259g gold specimen

  • I found this gold speci at about 15 to 18 inches deep, Very faint signal at first before going to get the video which was about a kilometre away at camp. No old holes anywhere and I suspect a nearby reef or gold source, someone will find it one day.
    A gold specimen is a rock specimen containing gold and in this case it held 29.5 grams.
    This was my first large deep specimen and my learning curve continued.

    So how exactly does one go about separating the gold from the rock in this case...Or is it worth more as it is? Do you have to do some sort of specific gravity test to figure out the weight of gold in there? I have no idea what I'm looking at.

    Standard of Gold weighs 31.1 grams per Troy ounce. An I right or am I right? So, you have to perform a complex weigh-in for specific weight using a balancing sling in water to find the amount of gold and the amount of other rock. A complex mathematical computation must then be calculated to find the specific weight of gold contained in the rock.

    • @TheNuggetMagnet
      @TheNuggetMagnet  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right, the maths are fairly easy once you have the wet and dry weights, l did upload a video on specific gravity tests in 2017 if you have time, cheers NM.

    • @wakeupidiotsnow2611

      sad to say I TOLDYA SO! bout your van.
      4me new work new girl and new house closing on it next week! but been studying ore genesis feverently! i know more about gold NOW than 99% of the people breathing! And sinse we first met....matter a fact i stumbled onto what ive been looking for since i started studying geology just in the last 72 hours! a competent geologist that knows my area! ive read a half a dozen technical geology reports written from 1929-1950 by A.L.Anderson who died in 1964....he just lined me out on exact locations and geology for 3 of the five districts near me! example: 1870 prospectors walked into a narrow gulch and found a slab of quartz 18inchhes thick and 150 feet long up against a bluff .showing free gold..the footwall had long eroded away into the vallley below and with pick and bucket they easily chipped the gold ore into buckets.....guess what it assayed? try 10 oz. gold and 1000oz. of silver per ton!!!! Bonanza Ore! started 1 coplete district......its 300k from here but theres 80 mines there in 3x 6mile area.....that have been sitting idle! i also read the report for the district 60k from here and got exact !!!! locations of the best area! all in the last 3days...........Talk soon .....your a key part of my evolution into this Sport! Cheers its 80f today....snow 45days away tho. and im moving 600feet higher next month to a town of only 300. jd

    I was riveted to your video. As a new starter wannabe prospector I am sucking in everything I can find on youtube. What detector do you have? 15 - 18 inches deep is pretty good for gold, right?

    • @TheNuggetMagnet
      @TheNuggetMagnet  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gidday Douglas, its a Minelab GPX 4500 with a 17 x 11 nuggetfinder mono coil, 15 to 18 inches is good and tells you your detector is tuned properly, cheers NM.

    What kind detector do you used. ?

  • @stevenwatts8915
    @stevenwatts8915 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you had a hard time locating it because the detection waves extend down from your coil in the shape of an inverted cone. When you tilt your coil like you were doing, the detection "cone" is pointed to the side.
    Keep the coil flat and get a pinpointer for holes like that.

    Hello everyone, this video is about a gold specimen not a gold nugget, a gold specimen is rock containing gold and this particular specimen (rock containing gold) held only 29.5 grams of gold, almost one ounce which is still a good find at todays gold prices, you can watch me crush and pan out the gold here th-cam.com/video/00qdDo_K0iQ/w-d-xo.html l apologise for any confusion and hope this comment clears it up, thankyou NM.

    How can someone tell it's gold? By the pitch of the metal detector sound?

    • @TheNuggetMagnet
      @TheNuggetMagnet  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gidday Christopher, with practice you will come to learn the signals the detector is putting out, for example most low high signals will be gold, this is based on a low high signal indicating the target is at depth as opposed to a shallow target which will give off a high low signal, its not a fool proof theory but tends to be correct 90% of the time, cheers NM.
