Skrillex should've been higher up on the list. Say what you want about your opinion of him, you can't deny his ginormous impact on the EDM scene. He basically brought most EDM into the mainstream. His mixing and mastering (now) are perfect and his sound design is top notch. He won Grammy awards and is one of the youngest people to start their own record label (OWSLA).
***** I agree, I truly don't know why everyone hates on him. His music isn't nearly as bad as everyone says it is. In my opinion his music is amazing. His music is even still great objectively. It's very well made and pleasing. The hate might just come from jealousy, bandwagons, or stubbornness.
***** ***** I don't mind opinions. I like Skrillex and you dislike him, nothing wrong here. Music is supposed to be subjective right? But saying that his music has no "actual" melody, doesn't sound thought out, and that its just a bunch of random sounds "pasted" together is totally false. If you've ever tried to remake any Skrillex song of any kind, you would find it to be just the opposite. Just listen to With You Friends (Long Drive), Fire Away, The Reason, Leaving, All I Ask of You, and Coast is Clear. Seriously though, listen to at least a couple of these songs. All of them are very well thought out and have great melodies. Some better than others *cough* With You Friends *cough* And his tracks aren't just random sounds pasted together. Each sound is intricately designed in advanced VST's such as Massive (you've probably already heard of it but if not you should look it up. It's what Skrillex uses to personally make each of his sounds). Skrillex's music isn't only a bunch of well made sounds, its filled with music theory, great mixing and mastering, and unique arrangements. Don't get me wrong, in no way am I fanboying him. I just find it a little sad that some people think producers nowadays don't work for their popularity. It makes me sad to think that they spend hours making what they love and people say it's objectively garbage. BTW keep this argument civilized, I don't like to have arguments on the internet that make us look like 12 year olds.

My list:^ 10. Skrillex 9. Martin Garrix 8. Alan Walker 7. Deadmau5 6. Armin van buuren 5. Tiesto 4. Swedish House Mafia 3. Hardwell 2. Avicii 1. Daft Punk
Ralf Hütter is almost 70, and Kraftwerk still headlines festivals! I mean, props just for that, gee. Half the time I want to go to sleep by 10:30, and this man old enough to be my father is out there pumping the sounds. Computer Welt. That's the album to listen to by Kraftwerk as an intro to them; that and the single of "Tour de France".
My list would be 10. Flux pavilion 9. Deorro 8. R3hab 7. Skrillex 6. Hardwell 5. DVBBS 4. Deadmau5 3. Armin van buuren 2. Dimitri vegas & Like mike 1. Daft punk Honorable mentions Borgeous Mike candys Thomas newson Steve aoki Zedd Case&point Will sparks Joel fletcher
Even though i am not a huge fan, i can honestly agree that Daft Punk stands at number #1, they are the Michael Jordan's and Mohamed Ali's of EDM, And the older i get the more i go back to listen to their art.
My top 1. Getter 2. Skrillex 3. Doctor P 4. Pegboard Nerds 5. Bone N Skin 6. Barely Alive 7. Bear Grillz 8. Eptic 9. Grabbitz 10. Panda Eyes That guys are super cool :)
K-391, Tobu, Alan Walker, TheFatRat, Pegboard Nerds, Xtrullor, Alex Skrindo, Blackmill, EnV, Vexento, F-777, Jim Yosef, Shurk, Itro, JJD, Axero, Electro-Light, Different Heaven, Ahrix, Lensko, Skrux, Jordan Kelvin James, Kadenza, OMFG, Elektronomia, Distrion, Janji, DEAF KEV, Chris Poirier, Ahxello, Stahl... I could go on for ages. The point I'm making is that "small" DJs are the best.
My top 12: 01. Daft Punk 02. Deadmau5 03. Diplo 04. Skrillex 05. Calvin Harris 06. Kaskade 07. Zedd 08. Flux Pavilion 09. Dillon Francis 10. DJ Snake 11. Zeds Dead 12. Avicii (whata fricken cowboy, am i right?)

The first Big Room track made by Sandro Silva & Quintino & Martin Vorwerk, Martin Garrix just make it popular Even Martin Garrix still using Co-producer or ghost producer for his music, he's don't deserve at this Top!!
+DEM0N1X P4R4D0X I mean the list is "superstar EDM producers and DJs". Don't get me wrong. Aphex Twin is absolutely one of the most influential musicians ever, but he is no where near the "superstar status" as the people on this list are.
+Maximillian Parkinson but he could've at least made an honorable mention. Like he completely changed the IDM and EDM industry and he's the reason why Skrillex, Nine Inch Nails, Björk, and even Squarepusher's music is in existence.
+Maximillian Parkinson yeah sorry, I should've rephrased that lol he introduced them to a new style of music and most of their work that was inspired by AFX were absolute masterpieces.
Plus dubstep has kind a died out in the last two years...even Skrillex, considered the most commercially successful producer of it has turned to trap, Amsterdam twerk, and glitch hop.
John Wiggins jut cuz you don't see skrillex does not mean dubstep died. you've been listening to to much wrecking ball and you haven't seen all the amazing dubstep artist
Well I'll correct you there I wouldn't willingly listen to Miley Cyrus's shit if I was tied up at gunpoint. But honestly it has gone downhill from most of the hype in 2009-2012. If you typed in the name of a song on SoundCloud and put "remix" after it in those years, chances are most amateur producers had made a dubstep remix of it. Now if you do the same thing, you'll probably find a dickload of trap and festival trap remixes. I'm not saying dubstep has died entirely, cause labels like Monstercat and OWSLA are doing great this year.
I can't understand this this list. How could Daft Punk beat Kraftwerk? Daft Punk is really good with songs like Around The World and One More Time, but i think nobody could beat Kraftwerk. All electronic music was began with Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk didn't always top the list in the UK and USA charts, but it was because they was avant-garde. (also before his time) And People did not understand Kraftwerk's music at the moment when they came. Autobahn came in 1974, a song that was build up with synth and electronic drums for 41 years ago! And When the song The Robots came in 1978, a song with synths and a robot voice that continued say "We Are The Robots" it totally changes the electronic music for all time! (sorry if not 100% correct grammar)
Yeah I can really see your point even though I like daft punks music better... they are all good producers Ps. I'm from the country that kraftwerk are from :o
Aviciis wake me up is the most played song on spotify with 300,000,000 plays and is still in the top 40 songs in sweden 1 and a half year after it´s release in june 2013 thats pretty hughe dude:)

You seem to be missing a few, Zomboy, SKisM, Eptic, Excision, Dion Timmer, Astronaut, Dubloadz, Trampa, Knife Party, Wolfgang Gartner, BAR9, Tisoki and Pegboard Nerds. The artists deserving to be on this list are deadmau5, Skrillex & Daft Punk.
Also 501, Far Too Loud, Trumpdisco, Xilent, Krimer, Habstrakt, Megalodon and Barron (RIP). You guys just go for the most popular. And that does NOT mean they are the best. Sure, Skrillex, deadmau5 and Daft Punk might be the most talented on this list, but at least one of the many I have mentioned deserve to be on here. Do this again and this time do your research. I speak of behalf of all EDM fans. Thank You.
knife party is legit, and should have been on this list. the rest should have gotten mentioned. The thing is you can't fit too much in such a short video.
How many good songs have Daft Punk made? maybe 15-20 How many good songs have Kraftwerk made? Almost all of Kraftwerks' songs is good. Who is the electronic music father? Of course...Kraftwerk! (Sorry if not 100% correct grammar)

Are you ed wat skrillex did Calvin Harris did in one song im not saying i like Calvin Harris im saying that Calvin Harris did it better
Agreed. Skrillex is responsible for bringing more people into the genre than any other artist, save for Daft Punk
Russel Johnson but people hate the dubstep gen because of him.hes music is good but it's the reason why twelvies and shit happened.
RIP Avicii. You really inspired hundreds of people.
More than hundreds
Millions *
It still shocks me because of when he died. He was a regular feature at Ultra in Miami for several years.
Leftfield, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim just to name a few who need to be on one of these lists
I cannot explain how happy I was when Daft Punk got the number 1 spot.
feels m8.... i almost scream
HHHHNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG
Same here
me too :)
HEY
SPOILERS!!!
YOU FORGOT DARUDE!
Darude only made one memorable song, and the only reason it's memorable is because of people spamming it you TH-cam in the comments.
Polar Wolf you're wrong. look into the history you 10 year old.
Polar Wolf wrong. It had commercial success in the early 2000's. He deserves at least an honorable mention.
He definitely helped EDM become mainstream
Polar Wolf dumbass, he made many smash hits in the early 2000s, including Song like Sandstorm and Feel the Beat
I'd put Deadmau5 higher on the list. If you ever watched his stream, he can make better songs in 15 minutes most would in their lifetime.
At least top 3
1. deadmau5
2. Calvin Harris
3. Dj Tiesto
4. Hardwell
5. Diplo

really??!!
Deadmau5 will always be my favorite edm producer!
avicii was an innovator. He had a very different style
I like how daft punk's albums are released so far apart that they can be considered hiatuses
It's because they put SO much work into them
hambone h With the exception of Human After All, of course.
Lazz_R true, but that six weeks of work wasn't that bad

I'm suprised Eric Prydz isnt on here
jλcob ik, he's underrated
he dont call his music edm garbage! its pure progressive house and none of these idiotic fan boys would understand his music anyways.
Ralf Hütter is almost 70, and Kraftwerk still headlines festivals! I mean, props just for that, gee. Half the time I want to go to sleep by 10:30, and this man old enough to be my father is out there pumping the sounds.

Even though i am not a huge fan, i can honestly agree that Daft Punk stands at number #1, they are the Michael Jordan's and Mohamed Ali's of EDM, And the older i get the more i go back to listen to their art.
Yes avicii and daft punk is in 5 above list !! They are so amazing no wonder
The pop stars Avicii and Calvin Harris are higher ranked than Hardwell?
And Afrojack and Steve Aoki as honorable mentions?
HAHAHA all the artists you said are mainstream garbage. So they all suck.
Pathetically.Awesome My hipster detector is going crazzzzzzyyyy
Pathetically.Awesome I could not think of a comment more pathetically hipster if I tried.
Robin MX I have the right to say what I want. Most electronic music played on the radio sucks. Deal with it.

I could go on for ages. The point I'm making is that "small" DJs are the best.

Calvin Harris is a bad musician, probably the blandest DJ ever. Zedd should be higher
Agree!!!!
Martin Garrix is the badest DJ.
NowPlay HD Badest or Worst?
ReaderGamerSinger In my opinion, he's the Worst.
aww dude you know those fucks i was supposed to give about your opinion on this i sold them and bought a calvin harris album and his sol republic headphones so i got that going for me witch is nice
No panda eyes, no different heaven, no knife party...
that guy with glasses knife party is pretty good and I think abandon ship is popular

#8: Daft Punk
#7: Skrillex
#6: DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit, House of Pain)

Avicii #1❤️❤️
top edm DJ's in 2017:#10 Alan walker #9martin garrix #8the Chainsmokers #7 jauz #6yellow claw #5dimitri Vegas and like mike #4jay haraway #3 major lazor #2timmy trumpet #1 THE ONE AND ONLY MARSHMELLO LOL(my opinion deal with it)
yanothesimmer games and more what marshmello only had 2 good songs
yanorki yanorki marchmello is still a growing artist but he is not equal to artists like hard well
So Martin Garrix isn't a thing?
Krystosis he's shit
ben mcguire even if he is, he's commercially successful, popular and (in my opinion) did wonders to big room house
ben mcguire he's not that bad
When this video was released he wasnt known so much
The first Big Room track made by Sandro Silva & Quintino & Martin Vorwerk, Martin Garrix just make it popular
Even Martin Garrix still using Co-producer or ghost producer for his music, he's don't deserve at this Top!!
Made me happy that Skrillex and Daft Punk were on this list...but where in dafuq is APHEX TWIN!?
+DEM0N1X P4R4D0X I mean the list is "superstar EDM producers and DJs". Don't get me wrong. Aphex Twin is absolutely one of the most influential musicians ever, but he is no where near the "superstar status" as the people on this list are.
+Maximillian Parkinson but he could've at least made an honorable mention. Like he completely changed the IDM and EDM industry and he's the reason why Skrillex, Nine Inch Nails, Björk, and even Squarepusher's music is in existence.
+DEM0N1X P4R4D0X Okay you make some valid points but some of those artists you've listed were making music before AFX released anything.
+Maximillian Parkinson yeah sorry, I should've rephrased that lol he introduced them to a new style of music and most of their work that was inspired by AFX were absolute masterpieces.
+DEM0N1X P4R4D0X There's also concrete evidence that Skrillex was heavily influenced by AFX as well
@watchMojo.com you REALLY need to make an updated video on this topic!
do dubstep producers next
dubstep is a sub-genre of EDM so they already did. Twice.
Polar Wolf you said your self sub genre so why not
Plus dubstep has kind a died out in the last two years...even Skrillex, considered the most commercially successful producer of it has turned to trap, Amsterdam twerk, and glitch hop.
I'm not saying dubstep has died entirely, cause labels like Monstercat and OWSLA are doing great this year.
what's the name of that RL Grime song at the end of the video?
Please make another one of these lists!!
My list
10. Axwell
9. Zedd
8. Daft Punk
7. Alesso
6. Martin Garrix
5. OMFG
4. Alan Walker
3. Lensko
2. Arc North
1. Avicii
Lensko and OMFG arent popular. And they dont really DJ
I agree with you
Everyone you mentioned excluding daft punk shouldn't be on this list
Alan my man!
were is skrillex and deadmaus
Kraftwerk r fucking shit
Kraftwork was one of the most popular electronic groups back then, they have mad electro extremely popular in the 70's and 80's so yeah
Yeah I can really see your point even though I like daft punks music better... they are all good producers
Ps. I'm from the country that kraftwerk are from :o
10) Porter Robinson
9) Axwell/Ingrosso/Angello
8) Carl Cox
7) Sasha
5) Skrillex
4) Paul Oakenfold
3) Paul Van Dyk
2) Armin Van Buuren
1) Nobody!
I feel like Deadmau5 should be above avicii
Aviciis wake me up is the most played song on spotify with 300,000,000 plays and is still in the top 40 songs in sweden 1 and a half year after it´s release in june 2013 thats pretty hughe dude:)
Deadmau5 has been around for longer and has been more influential, no one gives a shit if Avicii made a few million teen girls wet
While I prefer deadmau5's music more, there's no denying Avicii is one of the most successful DJs of all time
didn´t i say that avicii should be higher i´m just saying that thats how the watchmojo crew thinks
Same
It's a bit depressing that Martin Garrix wasn't even in the honorable mentions
Agreed, I thought he would have made it on the list for sure. Not even an honourable mention? :-/
He's a scrape by artist who did jackshit to edm
+_2U_ well, that's a bit of an understatement, garrix's tracks have made edm much more popular.
Ben Casey Actually he joined big room and made it sound worse ;-;
martin garrix shoud be #1
my top 5: 5.human league, 4: omd , 3: yellow magic orchestra , 2: tangerine dream , 1: kraftwerk
My list would've went:
10. Calvin Harris
9. Swedish House Mafia
8. Steve Aoki
7. Datsik/Rusko
6. Diplo
5. RL Grime/Hardwell
4. Zedd
3. Skrillex
2. DeadMau5
1. Daft Punk
these are overrated as fuck, more like popular rather than good, but swedish house mafia is the only one that i would not mind up there
That's the whole EDM genre.
They said that the artists who made the list were: "measured by their popularity"... What more did you expect?
Diplo is NOT overrated he is underrated!
its voted by the community, not stupid critics
skrillex should be higher too, in my opinion.
YAAASSSSS! Daft Punk deserved that #1 spot!
hey at least Flux Pavilion is in the honorable mentions.
Flux Pavilion and Skrillex got me into dubstep, Eptic made me stay.
That's what she said >:)
I agree with number one.
Top 10
1. Bassnectar
2. GRiZ
3. Tipper
4. G Jones
5. The Floozies
6. Minnesota
7. Datsik
8. EOTO
9. Pretty Lights
10. Manic Focus
WHAT HAPPENED TO ALESSO?!?!?!?!
I agree alesso should be on the list
He's barely been around but he's on the rise as one of the best. Same with Martin Garrix
Avicii
Rip legend
+hambone h how did Barron die?
Sliv I pretty sure it was last year from drug overdose. Drugs takes so many lives :(
I don't complain. I mean Kraftwerk is on the list. you can't really surpass them.
How about jean michel jarre?
Deadmau5,Kraftwerk and daft punk only good acts :/
Wheres Giorgio Moroder?
Yeah! Godfather of edm
Next time just take the top 10 of DJ MAG, would turn out a lot better.
How many good songs have Daft Punk made? maybe 15-20
How many good songs have Kraftwerk made? Almost all of Kraftwerks' songs is good.
Who is the electronic music father? Of course...Kraftwerk!
(Sorry if not 100% correct grammar)
+Ivar Connheim Daft Punk is Daft Punk and nothing can top it
Novak true
