    Once you have the basics down and know a lot of words, the following tip really raised my game.
    Look at your rack and try to remove letters that are bad for making 7 and 8 letter words. Conversely, keep letters that are good for long words (S; blank etc.). Look to reserve common prefixes and suffixes (ING; ATE; etc.). Arrange prefixes and suffixes on your rack where they are likely to appear in words that you play, this will help you spot longer words quickly.
    Often, this will mean that you have to sacrifice several points on a few turns, but I think you'll be surprised by how often you can score a bingo once you get a feel for this strategy.

    • @Firefly256
      @Firefly256 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      An even more advanced tip: ING is *not* a good leave when the board is not open enough for 8-letter bingos. 7s with ING are really difficult to play due to the pattern of vowel-consonant-consonant, which is hard to overlap, coupled with the fact that G can only make AG, GI, GO, GU#, UG#

      Especially QI, ZA, XI, XU, JO. Another thing to know is that if you know all of those two letter words, not only can you score a lot of points without really opening up anything for your opponent, but you can hook your bingos easier. And you could draw a challenge from a very weak player.

    I’m only on tip number one and already I’m like “gooooood tip” 😍 it’s good because if I get a word in my head (spelled out with my tiles) I now realise that it’s then difficult to see beyond that word, it acts like a block to coming up with words that will actually fit in the board 👍🏽 ha ~ I’m loving this, I haven’t played in years but my son has agreed to start having a scrabble night with me once a week and I’m definitely not competitive 😜 I’m just brushing up 😝 haha I bet if my son had time he’d be ‘brushing up’ 😉😉 as well.

    I am professional scrabble player and i found your video recently and yea it was good explained for the beginners but there was few mistakes i would like to explain more. For the first tip it might be better to play words like quick when you necessarily want to play high points letter with no value words which is by itself not the good option when you are looking for more points in long term. You are absolutely right with the tactic, i would personally choose something like Rack added to Beagle to make Beagler you know and save Q for double letter tactic with qi on double word button for example.

    Aargh!!! QUAI(L) for 24 points when 76 was available for QUACKI(E)R or 58 for (BEAGLE)R / QUARK
    (BEAGLER, QUARK and QUACKIER are all valid in both the North American lexicon and the international one)
    He even has QUACKI_R spelt out on the rack. I wonder if he was planning to show that and decided not to.

    There are definitely more tips than those three. You definitely want to learn the two letter words and the three letter words acceptable in Scrabble. you also want to know a lot of eight letter words. Using the S wisely is definitely important. Trying to put high scoring tiles on triple letter scores. If you get the opportunity, try to find a word that covers multiple bonus squares and the same turn. For example you can cover a triple letter score and a double word score on the same turn, especially if you can find a word that has Q and Z on those squares.

      @INTJerk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zacharygarza9720 First things first: you don't want to go into the game blind. You need to know beforehand what exactly you are aiming for. Try and get a "universally winning score". 400 points is probably the magic number, meaning if anyone reaches this in a two player game, they are very likely to win. Although that may not be the case among experts, keep in mind that the board can only yield so many points given the amount of special tiles and high scoring letters.
      I believe the average combined score in a game is 750 points, which illustrates this notion.
      So once you grant that 400 points is the goal, you need to know how to get there. Let's break every move down to its most basic part.
      On average, you will get right around 16 plays a game. Simple math would dictate that averaging 25 points per play would get you there (400/16).
      Even more fundamental though, given that each player would average 50 tiles a game (out of the 100 total), that would amount to right around 8 points per tile used (400/50).
      Now 8 points per letter is an average, but that can be skewed when you are using both the high scoring tiles and low scoring tiles. You cannot expect to consistently perform to such a level, so here is a more useful approach and general rule to play by:
      There are 187 total value points in the game. That is: the sum of the values of all 100 tiles. That means that each tile is worth 1.87 points on average. Since you want to average 8 points per tile played by the end of the game, the best way to ensure this is to score 4.27 (8/1.87) points per value of each tile played. For the sake of simplicity you can estimate this as x4 the value of the tile you are playing.
      For example, if you only played one tile worth 2 points, make sure that the word it creates nets 8+ points. An example would be using just the letter 'G' on a double letter score to create the word "Go" both horizontally and vertically. Or if you are say only playing the 'Z' or the 'X', the word created should be at least 40 points (and much higher if using multiple tiles to create a word).
      So basically, just try to maintain each goal:
      4x value of each tile played and try to use 50 tiles or more, which involves an average of at least 3 tiles used per turn (50 tiles divided by 16 expected turns).
