He will have 100k soon as now Scrabble is finally getting the attention is deserves. Especially if he can appeal to the youtube algorithm with more high quality analysis of storylines.
This is really helpful! I love the graphs you use, and that you actually put numbers and data to the words with each letter in them. The dictionary is SO big, it can be so intimidating to even start thinking about how many words are available to us, but you are so good at presenting this information in a digestible way.
Really appreciate the kind words, XT! That feeling of intimidation is normal - we've all felt it. (It's also my reaction to the thought of learning to play all of Banjo-Kazooie in just a couple of hours :) With time and practice, the patterns start to emerge.
When I first started playing I found ed, er/re, and ing, and I moved light-years ahead. I was already pretty decent at bingo finding for a beginner since I read a lot and worked with books, but just learning those sent me to the moon. My favorite bingo is from the Q with no U; MBAQANGAS, which I have played twice; once challenged, earning me a extra turn.
Great video! It's fun to compare your instinctive percentages to the actual percentages. I was surprised at first to see M ever so slightly above C for words ending in a letter. But then it makes sense with -ISM, -IUM, -UM, -FORM, -NYM, -IM, -DOM (and -ROOM and -WORM). M is a fun ending letter!
I've actually learned a ton of stuff like that myself from crunching the numbers - I don't know how much it'll affect my in-game decision making, but I feel like it's helped me and I want to share!
I hope your day is going well . We haven't formally met. The reason I'm reaching out to you is because I'm just curious, would you be interested in a side project, if it didn't interfere with what you're already doing?.??
Only just found your channel today, but it's for sure peeking an interest revisiting old board games in their new digital format (chess, scrabble). With not being a native English speaker and writer, some of your proposed finds didn't even register as being existing words, so being very familiar and good friends with the English dictionary will of course help in addition to these wonderful tips :) Greetings from the Netherlands! #subscribed
S hook, -ESs, -ED, -iER, -ING, -lY, -esT, -iON, -E yup, it's not just -ED but also DE- that's quite common. If I can learn to check both at once, that will be useful
I'm glad I saw this video because getting a BINGO has not been one of my strong suits but now with your tips I think I am going to score many more BINGO's than I ever thought I could or would! Thanks Will
I hope your day is going well . We haven't formally met. The reason I'm reaching out to you is because I'm just curious, would you be interested in a side project, if it didn't interfere with what you're already doing??
Amazing video but no shot, Right after i watched this, i decided to play again and got my first ever bingo in the first move. The word was: "Bipolar." I drew an A, I, L, O, P, R and a blank. I went on to to win the entire round with a pretty huge margin.
You don't mention the blank tiles. I'm of the opinion you shouldn't use a blank tile unless it's to lay down a bingo, or at least make a play that nets you at least 50 points. To be frank, I think the blank tiles make it too easy to get bingos. Get rid of the blank files and replace them with S tiles. (I suppose the reason there are only four S tiles in Scrabble is because they are too easy to use, but then the blank files are even easier to use. So add two more S tiles while eliminating the blank tiles, and I think you have a better game.)
Agreed on the proper usage of blanks. I’ve also heard that perhaps the game would be improved if both players had one blank to use as they see fit, perhaps to swap in when they deem appropriate - of course that would dramatically change strategy, making opening dangerous areas of the board too risky until opponent uses up their blank, etc. Thanks for your thoughts!
It would be nice if you could provide links to documents or visuals containing the data you display about various letters and suffixes so that the viewer could download them. Also I was surprised that you didn't say anything at all in your last example of the rack that contained great letters but no bingos about looking for an eighth letter on the board, such as A, that you could play through to make an 8-letter bingo.
That's a good point - that's an omission on my part for sure, though it is an extra step above the very basic skill emphasized in the video of seeing a word on your rack. I can start to include the link to my statistics spreadsheet as well, though it might be confusing to follow until I improve the notation.
As a former scrabble enthusiast, I never really gone for bingos. I hated opening up the board so I would rather go for those square/rectangle plays that locks down the board.
The C is a letter many players dislike, but as you learn to find more bingos, it really distances itself from the V, another letter with no 2-letter words.
How do you tell if something is a word in many cases? For instance, the example in the video “wiriest” is a word, but it seems slightly awkward(forgive me for not being able to describe things well). Often I’ve found words which seem potentially plausible but am not sure if they are. Any tips on being more confident in the choice or do I just need to work on my vocabulary.
This is not an easy question to answer - in general, most adjectives (like "wiry") have a good chance to inflect to comparative ("wirier") and superlative ("wiriest") forms, but there's always exceptions to that rule. One way to start could be to play some games on a platform that automatically validates your words, to allow you to do some experimentation. If your ultimate goal is to be able to transition to over-the-board play or to game modes that don't automatically validate words, it's still going to be a nice starting point.
And unless you’re playing on a digital copy that checks all words before you can play them, you can always bluff and hope the opponent doesn’t call it. :P
Dear sir, thank you todaraba efcharisto for thy beautiful explanation, revelation the secrets in scrabbles that I had been longings, proverbs 4:20 Philippians 2:16 my favorite verses in the newtestament, in 1980,s me played with my second elder brother and sister in law, from Malaya to Singapore, I carried my scrabbles set and played alone for the love of words, and back to Malaya being single but married with scrabbles for the love of words especially biblical words as propitiation and Jesus Christ taught me to form all the biblical words as salvation, Redeemer, Holiness,Jesus, repent, amen, praying, Commonwealth, believing, and Jesus Christ taught me 3 sets of biblical words, vertical and horizontal in scrabbles, and I am fallen in love with those beautiful precious biblical words in scrabbles, thanks brother, never thought of tournaments and yesterday or last night I enjoyed watching skirmish scrabbles. Surprisingly ragu and raku is accepted, nice.
I have one word: underrated. I don't get why you aren't at like 100k subs, THIS is a really really good tutorial, liked and subbed
Really appreciate the kind words!

8:39 I IMMEDIATLEY saw the word Defiant. It didn't take long after to spot fainted, which would be the more common option I think.

thats good i literally put that in to a word unscrambler thinking you shuffled it

I have binge watched so many of your videos and I don't even play Scrabble, love your content and keep up the great work!

Just started scrabble a few days ago and hit gold with this video. A great confidence booster.
Great work Will. Sometimes bingos need to be approached backwards like an oe on a far away island.
I really liked that you ended on a combination that doesn't actually have a bingo!
Don't thank me for watching, accept my thanks for creating the best video I have seen today. Following!
This is the best scrabble video that anyone is ever going to see , the information in this video is totally brilliant , i liked and subscribed
LOL had this on in the background while playing online Scrabble and drew BEEGIST just while he was talking about the -EST words good tips in this vid
"Kamotiq" is a valid word, the only bingo ending with Q.
Just finished watching and went to play a game and immediately found dynamite for 76! Never felt so good about my first ever bingo
S hook, -ESs, -ED, -iER, -ING, -lY, -esT, -iON, -E
yup, it's not just -ED but also DE- that's quite common. If I can learn to check both at once, that will be useful
I have learnt a lot from this.
This was neat to learn. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Valuable tutorial! Your analysis using graphs and charts with percentages was effective. What’s next?
Thanks, Teresa! Next up will be the H episode of Better Know a Letter...but I'm open to suggestions for topics you'd like to see covered!
Will Anderson's Scrabble & Word Games Channel I just started playing scrabble last May, and I am hooked. I’ll look forward to your next tutorial.
I played my first bingo today and it was fainti(n)g over villain covering a double triple word scoring me a whopping 167, thanks will 🥰
I'm glad I saw this video because getting a BINGO has not been one of my strong suits but now with your tips I think I am going to score many more BINGO's than I ever thought I could or would! Thanks Will
So glad you found it helpful!
Great video! Really well done and informative.
Thanks, Lucas!
this video helped me score my first two bingos on scrabble go!
Awesome! First of many! :)
Very comphrensive suggestions, Thank You!! interesting research.
Super helpful. Thank you!
I am legendary for missing bingos. I wouldn't have it any other way! ;)
Haha I always see them at the exact point I push submit.😂

Nicely spotted!
Isn't the goal to generally find 8 letter words because you would need to be using a tile from the board?
You can play seven-letter bingo words by making parallel plays.
Amazing tips 👌
Thank you for Sharing.
my high ass was not ready for not being able to make a word with those last letters lol

Nice, How are you doing?
The first letter in the jumbled mess is important.
I have a scrabble competition coming up so I need to train
Thank you for making these videos.
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your advice
3:59 "Also, if you see your opponent moving a tile to the end of their rack, likely that tile is an S."
Which is why you should move a tile to the end of your rack every turn so the opponent does not know when you particularly have an S
This was really helpful. Good work and keep it up.
As a former scrabble enthusiast, I never really gone for bingos. I hated opening up the board so I would rather go for those square/rectangle plays that locks down the board.
Boo this man. BOOO!
Just got a bingo doing this! Snowily! It was 72 points in total (I hooked some words)
Nice one!
@@wanderer15 :)
Thank you for this
Just saying, while bingos ending in any of the
Will: I is a rare ending letter
Senarii: am I a joke to you
Denarii, radii, genii: *am I a joke to YOU?*
3:52 "s" cannot be tacked on to English verbs to pluralize them. Only to make them 3 person singular present.
fantastic video thanku.
My autocorrect has the same problem. A mistyped first letter locally confuses it.
Question: why are there only 7 tiles? My Scrabble can put 8 tiles 🤔
i didnt except to see the letter C as the 2nd highest starting letter for bingo words
The C is a letter many players dislike, but as you learn to find more bingos, it really distances itself from the V, another letter with no 2-letter words.
any additional value for double Chaetal or such words
awesome video!
Frequent words are easy as hell. The hard part is the less common words
I can't read the scrambled letters

What is a bingo?
It's a move that uses all 7 of your tiles on your rack. It earns you an extra 50 points added to what you're already scoring on the board.
Cool 😎
