  • This is round 7 of the 2003 Chevy Trucks 250cc AMA Motocross Championship from Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, NY.
Returning stars such as 250cc rookie Chad Reed, 2000 125cc champ Travis Pastrana, Stephane Roncada, Mike LaRocco, Ernesto Fonseca, Nathan Ramsey, Ezra Lusk, 250cc Motocross Sophomore Sean Hamblin, 2002 MX runner-up Tim Ferry, Nick Wey, Sebastien Tortelli, Larry Ward, David Vuillemin, Kevin Windham, Kyle Lewis, John Dowd, and 3-time defending champ Ricky Carmichael battle it out for the 2003 Chevy Trucks 250cc Motocross Championship. This series features a season long battle between Honda riders Ricky Carmichael and (the rejuvenated) Kevin Windham. This is the rookie 250cc Motocross series for Chad Reed and Ernesto Fonseca, and also features the return of Kevin Windham after injuring his femur at the 2002 Atlanta Supercross. Ricky Carmichael goes for 23 consecutive overall wins after sweeping the 2002 Motocross Championship. Kevin Windham wins his first race of the 2003 season with a 1-1 sweep -- his first since the 2001 Steel City finale -- and stops Ricky Carmichael's overall win streak at 22, marking Ricky's first loss in Motocross since Washougal 2001.
    Enjoy.

I was not an RC fan while he was at Honda. He just seemed so serious and moody, but when he went to Suzuki, he seemed to lighten up quite a bit. A lot more smiling, more fan interaction, and looked like he was having a lot more fun. 2005 is when I became a fan. No doubt he is The GOAT

I still admired Carmichael during his Kawasaki days, but the fact that Kawasaki -- and Honda for that matter -- treated him like dirt at the end of the 2001 and 2004 seasons was just really stupid, and they paid for it big time!
The fact that Kawasaki didn't even make Carmichael an offer for 2002 was just idiotic, even if James Stewart was ascending into a pro career. It looked like a bad move at first when Stewart threw away the 2002 125 West SX title, but Stewart grew up and did well for the Kawi dudes.
Honda has paid for it year after year since 2005! The fact that they completely ignored Ricky saying he was willing to take a pay cut with James Stewart moving up out of the 125cc class was one of the most egotistical things I'd ever heard of. The proof is right now! Honda has not won a Supercross title since 2003, and a 450cc Motocross title since 2004; it's hard to believe that Chad Reed was their best chance at a title until he crashed at Millville '11 and was never the same. And who can forget Chase Sexton last year when he made a run for the title from Eli Tomac???
In the long run, you're right! Ricky's the GOAT, but I thought he started opening up to fans a lot more when he went to Honda in '02.
