a very well put together video clip. thanks for sharing such a wonderful piece of history. too bad they went and built a freeway right over the top of it!
About 1995 I went past it every day on my way to work. It seemed so out of place with it's surroundings. It looks like a lot of work has been done to it since I was there. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Wonderful video. I got a kick out of the dubbed in sound for the brook, knowing full well that it too big a sound for such a little brook, and in fact - is 'drowned' out by the traffic thundering thro overhead on Rt95...
It is a strangely weird and wonderful place almost hidden from public thought and view. The grounds are totally open to the public and on any given day you can wander around and never see another person. It is a place that feels as though it is folded in on itself, always was there and always will be there. The highway over head adds to the sense of strangeness because it creates a white noise effect below, from the constant flow of traffic. I must say, it is a one of a kind place.
Sadly, the last time they rebuilt the waterwheel, they made it much smaller than it originally was. Look at the top of the wheel in relation to the upper window of the mill.
Very beautiful place, love going here. From this video you would never know just 300 yards away is drug central (Thames River Apartments) with gunshots fired all the time
