Great Memory to relive. So fortunate to have been in attendance at that game. My brother was there to root for Georgetown and when they beat Louisville he met a lady from Louisville who gave him her floor seats. He offered me his upper level seats and I and some friends drove down from college that night. Had no idea who Michael Jordan was or that I was watching him make a shot that would launch his career to become the greatest basketball player ever!

I was a Junior at UNC and was fortunate to be at the game because the guy that supposed to be there caught mono. So he gave me the whole package . What they don't show is Thompson not screaming and hollering at Brown but as a Dad he hugged him and whisper something in his ear . What Brown said he told him we will get them before Ewing leaves. I recall that turnover getting the Bill Buckner treatment with constant replays for a few years until the the actual Bill Buckner play and then Chris Webber. Also it seems like as Jordan became more of an icon, this game went from the the Fred Brown gaffe game to the Jordan shot game. I had actually forgotten about Jordan making that shot until I saw one of those ESPN sportscentury documentaries in the late nineties where they spent 10 minutes talking about Jordan's shot and totally cut out everything that happened after that. As you can see in this video, the shot was with more than 15 seconds left. I don't recall any other famous game-winner with close to that much time left. This one is only a big deal because Jordan made it.

1985 championship game. Georgetown and Ewing return and are upset by Villanova 66 - 64. Villanova made 22 of 28 shots for the game and 9 of 10 shots in the 2nd half.
3 Big East teams in the 1985 Final Four, Villanova, Georgetown, and St. John's (led by Chris Mullin)
What a great stretch of college basketball.

Of all the classic shots of MJ's career, that shot with :17 left is his most iconic. Posters of that shot is still sold here in NC.

What I found pretty cool was even if Jordan missed that shot, when they stole
The ball back, if you look inside by the rim, Jordan was already down there waving his hand for the ball to score lol… his IQ and need for the ball when the game was on the line is absolutely insane 💪🏽💪🏽
