I don't understand. How is Chris Colfer NOT starring in a hot Broadway revival right now with nine Tony's under his belt after this performance...like, my boy did THAT.
Asep Yudhistira he loves Broadway musicals lol he’s said it many times, I’m guessing it’s because he’s not classically trained and probably couldn’t keep up with 8 shows a week
My favorite part about this performance is that Chris colfer casually brought up this song to Ryan Murphy and he was like "yeah that could be funny" then he absolutely killed it in the best way possible.
At my school if I did this song like him I'd be painting a bigger target on my back than I already have. I am probably the most hated kid in my school for no reason whatsoever expect because I'm me. Would I love to do this song like him absolutely. Do I have the guts to do it nope
He already lost his mom, and was terrified of losing his dad due to not being the son he had hoped for. That on top of always being overshadowed by his friends especially Rachel. You see all of that in this performance.
He must have been channeling some real life anger as well. You don't give a performance like that on fake emotionality, or at least I don't know how you would be able to do it. It's inspiring honestly 🤩
This sound is so popular for TikTok sound, glee slays for this performance, Chris Colfer deserves everything for this heart lifting acting, singing and dancing. Also the emotions are so amazing for this
And This Is One Of The Reasons He Won The Golden Globe The Impact of This Scene On a Tweleve Year old me has taken me to me millenia this introduced me to “Rose’s Turn” and This epitomizes everything i want to leave onstage in any kind of performance He Gave Everything!!!!
I don’t understand how Chris doesn’t do other stuff bc I have always loved his voice and his comedic timing. I would watch an entire film starring him lol. But I know he also writes and he’s probably making bank on residuals from Glee lol. Glee is so hit or miss and has so many problematic things in it but it was a special show when I was a budding queer kid. Also, I’m glad to know Rachel being hated by everyone is now a canon IRL event 🙃
If the assignment mr. Schue gave out in this episode was to sing a song that expressed the real you and he was feeling like why didn't he do it in class. That is my only question. This is my absolute favorite solo he has ever done besides I have nothing

Its heartbreaking when you know the emotions he is feeling the anger, resentment, and some amount of defeat but the difference is that not all of us have what Kurt had he had the most amazing father and support system some of us dont so those feelings of resentment etc never really go away
The fact that TIkTok brought me here.. And I used to watch glee and didn't put his face to that voice.. I honestly thought from blind sound that it was a British lady lbvs
I love this song. My favorite part is how it builds up to the stage part. The way it begins and gets more aggressive before the stage seen which shows his frustration building up till he's on stage. And the part were he sings." I have a dreaaaaam" his facial expressions reveals it all. The way it progresses as well builds up your interest and emotions so your right there with him in a way. You don't feel what he's feeling but you feel something.
Damn this is actually really sad when you think about it. Wasnt the context that he did all this 'manly stuff' to get his dad to talk to him more but he still ended up favoring his girlfriends son more :( (no hate to burt he didn't know he was hurting hurt)
This is my favorite Kurt performance. I'm bisexual but lean lesbian. And I hid it for 5 years because both my mom and sister who I live with are homophobic. I totally love that they showed this whole part in Glee, of Kurt trying to be "manly" when those stereotypes really aren't for him, just to try to get approval from his dad. I've been there. My mom is totally straight, and when we watch TV together or talk crushes I only point out the boys I like and overemphasize it to make her approve. This whole performance is so relatable, except for me it would be mom not dad. And I love the way he sings it, so fed up of doing all he can to be noticed but having it still not work. Such a great performance. I love Kurt, he's my favorite character.
A really annoying instagram account over uses this song for their reels so I had to come check out the whole thing. Absolutely floored as I always thought it was a woman singing it.
After finishing the show, this was probably the peak of it. It happens so early but this was the only time where the story, character, song choice and performance all came together. There are better plot lines, songs, characters, and singers throughout the seasons but rarely do they all fit together so well as they do with this one

In the original, Rose mentions the lead of the musical and since Rachel was the main character, also he threw his note on Defying Gravity cause people were sending inappropriate messages to his dad about him being gay which gave Rachel the solo
super late, but also because he blew the "defying gravity" high note on purpose, and rachel won because of that. later in the series it's revealed that that was the starting block for her confidence, so if it wasn't for kurt (blowing the note), then she wouldn't have gotten all the solos
This episode was when Kurt's dad and Finn's mom started dating, per Kurt's set up, but he started to regret his decision when his dad and Finn started spending a lot of time together watching football and talking girls. Kurt started doing things to get attention from his dad, like dressing in what could be called "manly" clothes, and he got a girlfriend. But he was really gay as you probably know, and hates wearing those types of clothes, and felt uncomfortable with Britney, but kept going to please his dad. This song was when he gave up because his dad still was hardly paying him any attention and kept hanging with Finn.
Ok so they have the most androgynous voice I’ve ever heard, I’ve never watched the show so I have no clue what gender they are or anything but when I heard a clip no visuals I couldn’t tell you what their gender even could be.

He loves Broadway and says it all the time
This definitely makes my top three if not my favorite performance out of the entire series from him
I think it's his best performance.
Rachel Lamell definitely

That’s one of the things that I admire about this character. He’s been through so much, yet he’s still just so resilient.
This is one of my favorite songs of his. He gets so intense, especially at the beginning of it.
