Hey Michael. Nice unboxing of the Sirui tripod. FWIW, I recently came across a unique and extremely high-quality travel tripod...the FLM "CP26 Travel Tripod". It has super-strong 10x Carbon Fiber legs (26 lb load capacity!) with well-made twist locks, and a ball head that has several unique features that I've not seen in my 35 years of photography using tripods...For example, the "Pan" function permits butter-smooth normal panning, but in addition, adds a 15-degree ratchet function that is fantastic for us landscape/panorama photographers! There is also a "Tilt" knob that locks the ball head so that only a single vertical/up/down plane is available. And finally, there is a "lock" function that locks the ball head from panning/turning, so that it can easily be unscrewed and/or mounted solidly. The kit comes with very well-made screw-on metal spikes, and folds up to a compact 15.5" for travel. Quite ingenious and precision design overall, and highly recommended for travel!! Bottom line: This FLM tripod simply exudes Quality. FLM-Canada supplies the US. Thank you!
Hmmm, initially tough to answer after checking out whats available. Benro and FLM make good and comparable stuff but they are more expensive. Most of the stuff I see are 5 section legs, which I don't like. Slik has the mini-ii. Benro has the slim but reviewers question the quality of those lines and the benro slim doesnt fold over itself, so not as compact. Zomei appears to have good reviews but Ive never used their stuff and alot of what I see are 5 section. I might look for a used one or take a look at the quality of the above. Sorry bud, Ill let you know if something else comes to mind.
@@michaelmerto Ok thanks man. What do you think of the predecessors to your favorite Sirui tripod? They seem to be just as good but more expensive. What about the other carbon fiber Sirui's that are like 150-160 range on amazon? Thanks for the reply!
@@noahigler1466 I like the predecessors, I dont like their price. I personally am not seeing anything that stands out in the 150-160 range by sirui. At this point I'd rearrange my priorities (like looking at slightly larger tripods or test out some 5 section ones to see if they are sturdy enough to my liking) I'd look for the thickest last leg possible. Or I'd change my price range. Sorry, this sucks to see there aren't many comparables at that price range.
@@michaelmerto Aight thanks man, Ill look into it. I have a question about buying used lenses also: Im meeting a dude tomorrow at Sammys camera and I am buying a used 24-70 2.8 mark 1. He seems cool but also a tiny tiny tiny bit sus (maybe thats just me assuming it will go wrong). Anyways, hes giving me a pretty good deal for 600-650 US D for the lens which he says was fully serviced by canon and has a 6 month warranty from canon. What do you think about all this? My thought is if the Sammy's people say it is good condition and super sharp then I want to buy it. Otherwise I gotta say no I guess...
@@noahigler1466 I've bought plenty of used lenses in my day and have had some good deals, Ive also given good deals cause I dont like things lying around. Price sounds good. Don't be afraid to negotiate, even still. As long as all the tests and inspections pass, I'd say it sounds promising. Take photos, zoom into corners, test AF, dust etc. Even better if he can show proof of service and answer what it was for (was it for cleaning or a drop?) and if warranty is transferrable.
I'm looking at the specs on bhphoto and they both list at 2lbs. The 024x is extremely light and I much prefer the strength from having the thicker lower leg. One thing to consider is the 024x is 2.5 inches longer folded.
HI! The 25x has 5 sections and the 24x has 4 sections. As such, the 25x has a folded length that is 2.5 inches shorter. The tradeoff is the last leg is thinner and thus in my opinion less stable/stronger than the 24x.
I have never hiked Mount Everest or even the Oregon Trail, but I have walked around NYC for hours, with a full-sized aluminum tripod, and I do not "get" why everyone is on this "travel" tripod kick? The travel tripod's that I have seen and the MeFoto that I had, are flimsy as hell. The MeFoto has plastic bushings (one of the legs came out into my hand when I was setting it up in my living room...……………..luckily for me, there was no camera mounted on it), and while these travel tripods have a small footprint, I find it takes longer to set them up because you have to unfold them. I'm not a "big" guy, but I've never been bothered by the weight of a tripod and I like the security and stability of using a good, full-sized tripod. I put a shoulder strap on it, and I'm OUT!
totally makes sense. i think in my case i find myself also lugging around a 2nd camera, gimbal, motorized slider and drone so im always on the look out to shave any weight.
Hi Michael, just curious about the Sirui tripod (now you have had a few months with it - how have you found it? I am planning to do a travel series around the world where a lot of trekking is involved and I am running solo. I am tossing up and researching tripods now. Please help...hahaha.
Hey man, that sounds like an awesome time and wish you luck on your trip. As far as the Sirui, I still love it. It's held up nicely and there haven't been any real negatives to report since posting the video. The ball head is surprisingly good as well. Hope that helps!
Hi Wayne. Though I have no experience with this particular tripod, for a much more versatile option for hiking/travel, I recommend checking out the Leofoto LN-254CT Carbon Fiber Tripod...It supports 22lbs, and includes a fantastic panoramic head! Also, an ingenious designed ball head where every knob/lever is a different shape/texture! This facilitates working in low light without potentially adjusting the wrong knob! Good luck on your choice!
sorry i disagree sirue monopod with twisty alway get loose if no tighten firmly . manny time in start lowering down also on cold days it get stuck at middle section. so i rather have the locking type but that can also get loose but i just tighten screw every so often.
hey! thanks for watching. I guess we have different experiences. all my bigger tripods are locking type (and with the exception of the Sachtler, the locks always need periodic re-tightening) but I love the twist locks on my smaller tripods and usually dont have a problem with them becoming loose. Different preferences but thanks for sharing you experience!
Hi, enjoyed your video. So are you using this one for video as well? Even though it doesn't have a fluid-head? Or is it just for fixed shots? I was looking at the Manfrotto, but have found many people not happy with it, including you on your other video. Thank you and keep the great work
thanks for watching! i do mostly use it for video, dont find myself doing much panning these days even with the sacthler back at home, usually get motion elsewhere especially when traveling. If I remember correctly velbon makes a lightweight fluid head that might be as light and portable as the befree live head.
Michael Merto thanks for the reply. Which Velbon head is that? Googling for Velbon lightweight fluid head I got results for the PH-368. But it lists a weight of 840g. However the Befree Live is at half of it with 400g. Where else do you do your tilting panning? Thanks again
Hi Mike i received texts from your phone last weekend cryptic with hash tags and more i did not understand i had just texted a general communication.. i looked up the hashtags and they were really off

You posted the same thing in his other video. At least TRY to be a bit more subtle when promoting a product.....
Peter Tran My apologies, sir. My enthusiasm for this tripod got the better of me.
What tripod today would you say I could buy for the same price of this sirui and it would be the same quality?

Nice video, but before I order one, how does it compare to the lil brother t025x in terms of weight? Will the 1 lbs make a huge difference?

Can you please suggest tripod for my Nikon P1000
so sorry for the late reply, did u find one??
@@michaelmerto yes i brought one
Hi, do you think i could use the manfrotto be free fluid head on the sirui T024x tripod instead of the ball head ?
yes you definitely could.
Michael,
I am mostly into photography, but I am really diggin the format of your videos. Subbed in!
Mike
Thank you so much Mike! I really appreciate your kind words and look forward to any suggestions/requests you might have in the future. Happy shooting!

Michael Merto good point Thanks !
The way you ended the video made me laugh. Bravo!
=) thanks for watching!
why dint u try the manfrotto befree carbon fiber if u want lighter?
they didnt have the fluid head with the carbon legs at the time

Forget it. This tripod is no longer available anywhere. It's been discontinued.
i just that it was, thats too bad. lots of good options out there still.
Nice unboxing! 😎🎁 The split screen was 👌🏾
gracias! notice the showing of the box, opening of the box and thus the unboxing of the... =))
Wait, there was a box in yours?? I must have been too distracted by all the bags. ;)
Nice video!
Manfrotto element small or sirui t-024?
thanks! id vote for the sirui t-024 because it has less leg sections should = more stability.
It is pronounced "SooRay"... seriously. Weird, but true.
in the next episode, the tripod legs upgrade, gitzo 0545, you should have gone with it first :) but you cant beat sirui c 10 ballhead
thanks for checking out the video! jeez that gitzo is nice! agreed, the c10 was a nice surpise
Unboxing... Ok now there real review?
China pronounces it "Sue-Ray"
ahhh, thanks! I took japanese for a few years and saw it as "see-roo-e." should have known better...
Recycle???
Frank!!! It's been so long, how you been?

sorry about that Frank!
