  • I decided to try my luck back in the high desert, searching for signs of a possible prehistoric camp or anything that would indicate human presence.
    Remote and at an elevation of 6000ft, I began exploring an area that was forested in pine and juniper. I came upon a sloping rise and started to find an abundance of lithic debris and soon pot sherds. As I continued to make my way closer to the top of the rise, i would encounter more and more lithic material as well as pottery. And once on top, I was certain I was on top of a prehistoric village.
    There was an astounding amount of pot sherds at the top and the pottery literally consisted of every type of pottery made during the reign of the Ancestral Puebloan culture. Plain grey ware, Black on White, Corrugated, and Red Ware. Fascinating!
    Please join me as I head out into the desert to discover what once was...

    You definitely discovered a good sized area that was once a thriving pueblo. I am amazed at the proclivity of potshards, lithic materials, remnants of knapped tools, and two distinct arrowheads. The location was possibly a major trading center. You definitely discovered a major native site. Thank you and Phoenix for another outstanding adventure!

      I agree! And the mystery with drill marks is always wether the hole was used to turn the sherd into jewelry or wether they were trying to repair a crack, by drilling a matching hole on the opposite side of the crack and binding it together with twine but since he found the matching piece, with no matching hole on the opposite side, then it points to this being jewelry or a pendant. But who knows. Love this channel

    My hypothesis is that is was a seasonal camp, they were most likely there to collect the Pinon pine nuts ( there were lots of pinion trees in your video) the pinion nuts were a very important food source and also the pinion trees attract a lot of wildlife .

    Really enjoy your videos brother! I live in southwest New Mexico, on my property was a Pueblo settlement. Quite a few pit houses,ive got 5 gallon buckets of pottery. Plain grey,corrugated, black and white, red and white etc. I've picked up over 100 points,scrapers,knives, pigment stones. Paint pots, drills etc. Its all so fascinating

    We also found a pottery sherd with a hole drilled into it exactly the same way. I believe it is to repair the pot if it broke. If the rim of the pot chipped off a piece, they would drill holes through two pieces, and then then mend it with a string.
    This was a really cool exploration! You definitely find some pretty awesome places.

    Amazing natives that created rock drawings look like the were blind folded as in comparison to pottery having straight lines and perfection

    I wonder if that wasn’t a meeting place for trade or something. Thanks for the video.

    Maybe, it was a midden pit. All the organics have decayed away and that's left is the pottery pieces and arrow making debitage.

    Hey, at 4:49 there appear to be a whole bunch of prints in the soil that look like they might have been made by hoofed animals. What do you think?

    Very nice site. Have you ever found a complete, unbroken pot?

    • @EnigmaClandestino
      @EnigmaClandestino  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, never. I'm limited to what I come across since it is strictly on the surface, so the chances of stumbling onto a intact pot is very rare. Coming across a few pieces that fit together happens occasionally as evidenced in this video. Appreciate you watching!
