I was contemplating gifting you one of my Z9 bodies until you voiced your animosity toward Nikon,as such I am now uncontemplating my generosity, hows that Sony Boy.!!!!!!!!!
I picked Nikon because everyone around me was shooting Canon, and I wanted to be different in a sense. I also love Nikon menu system and ergonomics, as well as naming lens choice. Now my goal is to upgrade to D850 for photos and one of the Z cameras for video. Nikon is getting it right in terms of AF with the Z lineup, so future is looking bright for us that use Nikon.
@@astanisystems as I remember it (but it was a long time ago) Nikons back in those days had rotary dials to select things, whereas the Canons had buttons and you had to look at the LCD screen on top to see what they were doing. At the time I think I had a Praktica so Nikon felt a bit more familiar.
@@PJ-om2wq Yeah, but Nikon is still superior in terms of design and ergonomics compared to other brands. Nikon cameras have a distinctive look, unlike Canon with a blank black theme. Not that anything's wrong with them, it's just that Canon cameras look simple and dull compared to Nikon's. Also, older generation always praises Nikon, so whenever I was doing a shoot that included elderly people, they would always praise my for using Nikon and were generally saying good things about my system choice. This goes to say that Nikon is the OG in camera world, where Canon is mid, and Sony is the new kid on the block. Leica, Hasselblad, Fuji, Lumix, and Pentax, I don't know about those, they might all be grouped together with Canon.
I don’t care about sharpness, but extra DR on my Canon would be nice as would a S35 mode. Honestly ARRI just need to make a simple photo/video came that’s cheap with basic AF and i’d just buy that lol
I know it sounds basic, but I import my Sony footage into Apple's photo app and use the auto-correct. It actually does a pretty good job. Simple, but works! Takes away the pale complexion and makes me look a bit tan like I'm a living person outside of the Adams Family.
Minolta built some seriously good film cameras back in the day. They were my intro to photography. Smooth crisp lenses, beautifully built bodies, great photos as farvas film could. Mum had a Canon around the same time and it was horrible in comparison, much MUCH worse, lens was junk, cripple hammer at it even way back then on some models at least. RIP Minolta.
The main reason Sony footage is unflattering is that I believe they sharpen the mid tones on the A7SIII and FX3- try using the midtone detail slider in Resolve to soften them. It could help without making the image look like mush. My clients want Sony, so this is the main reason I bought the FX6 alongside the VND and I/O- it doesn’t have that issue despite using the same sensor. I wonder if external recordings from the A7SIII with a Ninja V would solve this problem.
Could you test the Phantom Luts for Sony? I would realy like your opinion. - Btw. I prefer HLG (I think it's picture profile 10) for my rosacea tortured face.
Expose to the right on C-log or one stop brighter for less noise. Because metering mode is wide, you can't rely on Histogram 100% as you would rely on zebras. I just checked on my EOS R and it doesn't have zebras on either photo or video mode which is disappointing. It force you to use an external monitor to expose perfectly. You're welcome. Thanks for sharing!
Had Canon in the 90's Always wanted Nikon because it was perceived as quality, Canon for Sport, Nikon for art, well that was my take anyway :) Only just got into digital..funny taking thousands of pictures with no worries, it's a different thing now. The Nikon Z range is pretty cool. Sony I'll leave for the gamers.... for now :) They all give us great technology.
That's just total BS, Kasey! 1.) You know that "lived in cowboy look" offered by Sony, suits you better. 2.) The lens to make you look younger has not been designed yet. 3.) Sony auto focus nails those zits instantaneously. Canon is still playing catch up hours later. Doesn't know which zit to pick. 4.) Your vocab improves when you talk Sony. I'm off to Polin's channel. At least he has nice hair.
You are making wise choices.... now you need a Canon vlogging lens, and if you're going outside you'll need a Telephoto lens as well... and bin for the Sony
@@cameraconspiracies For someone who has just discovered the magic of Canon colour, you sure know a lot about the 24 L II! I"ll be sure to sell it and get the Mark I.
Canon has been around forever. They have had a leg up on the field forever. Like Nokia's demise, I forsee Canon being usurped by Sony in the next 15 years. Canon, like Nokia, is way too cocky. I have a Sony a 7s 3. But my first choice, at the time was, the R5. Canon blew it. The overheating, the codecs, the file sizes - it was a mess. A lot of my friends got Sony cameras at that time too. Now, we see how good the auto focus is, the broad lens selection, the articulating screen and other amenities. Color science is not even an issue for the most part. There is a lut for everything. Besides that, for me at least, I don't even use s log. I tweak film color straight out of the camera in the basic profile. So "for me" the fact that there is so much already built into Sony camera's right out of the box - and they work. No recalls or waiting on firmware updates to be able to use my $4,500 dream camera that over heats and loses me gigs. (The cripple hammer is reaaaaaal). Canon is still riding high "now" but new consumers are having Sony as their first camera now and Sony will become their chosen ecosystem going forward. Not even giving Canon a shot at their business.
Eric Lenz created a Sony LUT called EOS Alpha. It will rock your world. Film in SLOG3, custom WB 300K below what Sony thinks is correct for gray card. Then in Davinci, pull back the LUT intensity to about 70% and add a touch of grain. Welcome to the cinema my friend. You’re welcome. 😊
How are you converting slog3? I feel like you're comparing apples to oranges. If you're comparing straight out of camera shouldn't you be on s.cinetone?
As an owner of 4 Canon EF L lenses (In love with all of them) I sometimes wonder if switching to mirrorless with an ef/RF adapter is a wise choice. My 7d M2 has a main dial problem and I hope Canon can get it fixed
Any modern day camera can get the job done. But I'm switching to Sony because I refuse to pay thousands more for canon lenses because canon will not allow any other company to make lenses for their RF cameras.
I'm wondering why you haven't used the ESO R for wildlife, that sensor for photos is fantastic, I used the RP for a year and it was amazing, so much detail, the R is better in that regard, plus the 4k crop it has could be advantageous for a longer better reach, get the RF 100-400mm and enjoy, the 24-240mm is also a great option, kind of miss it to be honest.
His a7 iii is just better for wildlife tbh, in pretty much every way. Plus the RF100-400 is good but definitely not up to par with his 200-600. A true upgrade to the a7 iii would be the R6ii
@@simonthibodeau7082 he doesn’t have the A7III anymore and it is not an upgrade in every way, the R has more Megapixels and you basically can’t compare the price, size and weight of the RF 100-400mm to the Sony 200-600mm it’s just not on the same category, he keeps mentioning how huge and heavy the 200-600mm is, I’m saying this because he has a solid photography camera for 1080p recording in his living room and hasn’t even bother considering the potential for wildlife with it, I’ve used it, it’s fantastic, I’ve used the A7SIII too, I had it for a year and I kept wanting more megapixels, that’s where I missed my 26MP Canon RP and the 30MP EOS R.
@@AndyLSB sorry I meant the a7s iii, not the a7 iii. I mean all he does is video, so the mp is irrelevant for him. I'm not debating which is better in general, just that for wildlife video there's no question that his current setup is just much much better, that's why he doesn't bother with the R
@@simonthibodeau7082 I get your point and I’m not disagreeing with you, but he has multiple systems regardless if they’re inferior to the Sony setup, just because, so why not put it to the test ? Why waist a good photography camera for 1080p video for TH-cam ? That’s my point, maybe he is surprised by the results, heck, I was when I had them, and he does have a photography account too, on IG, it’s pretty good.
@@AndyLSB Yeah, I guess for review purposes there'd be no harm. The RF100-400 is a fantastic lens, I love it with my R7 for both photo and video. I'm sure it pairs pretty well with the R! Guess he's just spoiled by 4k60 and HD120 and maybe HD60 is just not that worth it for him. I really wanna see him try the R6ii though, animal eye AF would be game changing for him I feel! Pretty much all of the current RF telephotos are great for wildlife video. What's is IG? I didn't know he had one!
After 2 Canon cameras and 3 lenses failing, I would consider Canon as#1in disappointment. I still have my original Olympus Digital and film cameras and 2 Panasonic point and shoots that have lasted past the point of obsolescence. I bought the Canon cameras because of the name and they let me down hard. The best camera I will ever own will be the Panasonic GH-10
I have a nightmare grading Clog3. Just when I think I've found the right settings, my next video looks like garbage with the same settings. It seems exposure, lighting, white balance seem to affect it in huge ways which mean spending hours fiddling with colour curves. The LUTs are total garbage. I'm actually considering just not using CLOG3 at all, and use HDR instead.
I recently bought a Canon R5 C. It's great; I'm really happy with the purchase. You'd probably like it if you had some time to play around with one. Need to use it with stabilized lenses, though. No IBIS, battery life is shit (meant to be rigged up), and I had to refinance my house to buy it. LOL
EOS R is an ancient camera. So last season! You need an R5 or R3 for a man of your celebrity good looks! Possibly a R6 Mk II if you must. They all have a few cripple hammers in these too but all new generation them.
Canon bodies are also better than Sony bodies. Better ergonomics, better quality feel, and better weather sealing. I'm struggling on whether to buy the Sony A7RV or wait for the Canon R5 Mark II
Canon have always had remarkable entry level models. Most cameras are still entry level with kit lenses, and lenses per body is lower than 1.8. This is the only reason Sony is not a monopoly. Canon started slr video early, when sony and panasonic were still focusing on camcorders. Nikon could have been a contender, but they released multiple upgrades that offered nearly no improvements in the most important market segment, the 3000 and 5000 series. Nikon users switched because or inferior features compared to the competition. Fujifilm users will switch because or high cost compared to the competition. Panasonic will survive, but they are a niche really, in the general market it does not have a chance against full frame. Fujifilm, Nikon and Panasonic still have no serious proposition for a digital cinema camera, another niche that is not very important. Sony and Canon have a very complete professional video line.
"Remarkable" in what sense? Canon's entry level bodies were indeed OK or even sometimes pretty good, but their "consumer" lenses sucked big time. And they still do. And then there's a gap the size of the Grand Canyon between the "entry level" and the shiny happy world of the "real Canon" - all those R5s, R3s, 70-200/2.8 and 50 1.2.
@@alexandervapnyar1030 They are amazing value and very good quality. Consumers that drive the market do not need more. The kit lenses are OK for 1080p video and 1080p still delivery in phones, which is the typical delivery today, and most people do not buy extras lenses, just one or two kit zooms. Professionals that use a single camera probably go to Canon C70 and higher or Sony FX. The cost difference from cheaper models is not important compared to the cost of lenses. Those who need 4 or 5 cameras go for mid range models. In 2021 Canon M50 I and II, Sony A6400, Fujifilm X-A5 etc is what people actually bought in large numbers in Japan and other countries.
No, no no. Kasey, I need you to get a BM Pocket 4K, so you can convince me to buy it or not. The Canon is easy mode. I want to see you in the cinema with the Pocket 4K.
I have a question. You're filming on different cameras, and then comparing them to real life. How do you know it's not the monitor that you're viewing the footage on that is distorting the colours?
Canon just flatters you and your skin tones. Sony tells you the truth. LoL Sort of like Kodak film used to do in the bad old days what with their over-saturated reds to make people look "healthier".
I feel (not backed by any math based measurements) that Sony XAVC codec cheating a bit with slight sharpening at "medium spatial frequency" levels of detail, even if profile detail setings -7, so maybe it it worth to try external recorder to avoid any posseble "Sony compression secret souce".
I think the main issue why some people are having a hard time getting an accurate color from sony is that sony tend to hide the profile/color space that gives the most accurate color. The standard picture profile sony provides is good but not accurate enough and for some people who are new to sony, it might be their default settings. The most accurate picture profile/color space for sony comes from (picture profile off with neutral creative look) or from (Slog3 with Sgamut3.cine). I agree it should be more accessible straight out of the box and not be hidden like a secret setting but I think it might beat canon's color accuracy if you set it on those specifc sony color space/picture profile.

I like how the Cripple Hammer's entry always reminds me of the Skyfall soundtrack. A movie I love for many personal reasons other than being a cinephile.
That movie is sick.
clog 3 on the r5 is very easy to edit, shoot it in ipb too and you shouldnt have any editing speed issues either.
My gravy, do you ever know words! Bro, you're the most fun I have on TH-cam, most days. Thanks. Also; maybe that EOS R5 at the pawn shop wasn't a bad look... Who knew?
5:37 I literally LOL’d. Nice tonehature from the 24 1.4.
Tonéh shirt. Thats the massive improvement for every TH-camr
I was contemplating gifting you one of my Z9 bodies until you voiced your animosity toward Nikon,as such I am now uncontemplating my generosity, hows that Sony Boy.!!!!!!!!!
Your CLOG is probably orange because in Canon Log Settings your Color Matrix is probably set to Cinema EOS Original. Choose Neutral it’s better
I liked when you switched to 4k because eyes were finally sharp, and its much more pleasing to look at.
Your skin is fine!
I picked Nikon over Canon in 1986 and I'm not changing now. Back then Canons had weird menus. I had an FM2 and loved it.
12:56 expose to the right. In the meeter go over one notch or two C-Log works better when over exposed by one 1.5 stops
I don’t care about sharpness, but extra DR on my Canon would be nice as would a S35 mode. Honestly ARRI just need to make a simple photo/video came that’s cheap with basic AF and i’d just buy that lol
I`d take a cheap one even without AF :D
I know it sounds basic, but I import my Sony footage into Apple's photo app and use the auto-correct. It actually does a pretty good job. Simple, but works! Takes away the pale complexion and makes me look a bit tan like I'm a living person outside of the Adams Family.
Nice magenta/purple tint ! Canon colors.
I think I may have entered and alt-universe where I have sometimes over the course of this video realized I prefer the sony image on your face :D
I also Loved my EOS 650 and 620!
I just got the R6 mark 2
I'll let you know how it is
R6ii looks like it has absolute bonkers AF, especially for wildlife.
Thank you for going over all the reasons I do not shoot canon.
😂 this ^^^ 100% truth.
At this point the only cannon camera casey has was gifted to him.
Slog3 to Canon colour look best .
Excellent colors!!
What monitor do you have for your PC? I think it's really affecting your view on Sony's and everyone else' color science.
Even without a calibrated monitor you can tell the Sony colors look bad
Could you test the Phantom Luts for Sony? I would realy like your opinion. - Btw. I prefer HLG (I think it's picture profile 10) for my rosacea tortured face.
Expose to the right on C-log or one stop brighter for less noise. Because metering mode is wide, you can't rely on Histogram 100% as you would rely on zebras. I just checked on my EOS R and it doesn't have zebras on either photo or video mode which is disappointing. It force you to use an external monitor to expose perfectly. You're welcome. Thanks for sharing!
Also you definitely need to up the level of your light. ISO 400 supposed to give you the cleaner image but not when underexpose.
😂 Casey saw the light! 😂 never seeing so many contradictions in 16 minutes
Canon remains no 1 because they were always no 1(top market share before Sony even arrived). Close to half of the Canon sale is still dslr's.
M series. M50 has been telling the highest numbers ....
@@The_Idea_of_Dream_Vision yeah, that's the segment that everyone misses.
Which lens is and camera are best for shooting wildlife on cannon?
OMG the mk ii is so much sharper and focuses much faster.
It lacks character.
You're welcome? You mean this LUT? th-cam.com/video/KTDtS3l-qZE/w-d-xo.html One of the worst LUTS I've ever tried lol. Completely ruined my footage.
@@cameraconspiracies 🤣Mine looks nothing like that. But at least u tried it.
How are you converting slog3? I feel like you're comparing apples to oranges. If you're comparing straight out of camera shouldn't you be on s.cinetone?
The final image of Canon vs Fuji, who would win?
In my Sony A6600 I just put it in Auto 🐠 and it will correct my white balance for indoor shots that have artifish light and natural.
Best t-shirt ever! Was it a Toneh 0.95?
7:52-8:30 genius at work. 🤣
Have you considered getting a spray tan to make your skin tones more favorable
As an owner of 4 Canon EF L lenses (In love with all of them) I sometimes wonder if switching to mirrorless with an ef/RF adapter is a wise choice. My 7d M2 has a main dial problem and I hope Canon can get it fixed
am still rocking my 7d mark1 til this day and that camera can still produce some nice output til this day
Hah thanks for mentioning the 650. I just picked one up 😂
Any modern day camera can get the job done. But I'm switching to Sony because I refuse to pay thousands more for canon lenses because canon will not allow any other company to make lenses for their RF cameras.
Is the Canon R1 going to be the perfect camera?
Where can I download the Cowboy Smoker LUT? 😆
Learning how to get what you want from your existing gear is far more skilful that buying your way to click and done.
that's the best shirt
After 2 Canon cameras and 3 lenses failing, I would consider Canon as#1in disappointment. I still have my original Olympus Digital and film cameras and 2 Panasonic point and shoots that have lasted past the point of obsolescence. I bought the Canon cameras because of the name and they let me down hard. The best camera I will ever own will be the Panasonic GH-10
I am waiting for the Toneh 1 on 1 interview. In an awkward isolated cavern.
I think I'm a reptilian and no one told me... In these side by sides, I liked sony colors more. Does anyone know how to get back to the mothership?
7:58 ughh I felt that.
LOL
I made a bunch of videos with it.
Have you heard of the sony a1?
Someone send him an m2 MacBook Pro with Final Cut.
You have all of these cameras, why don’t yup shoot a comedy movie. You’re crazy man😂😂😂
Canon have always had remarkable entry level models.
Please make a Canon Cripple Hammer compilation. I would click like.
Canon VIXIA rules, all else Drools!
The Canon makes it look like you've got sunburn in November! I'm sticking with Sony, thanks!
Maybe Sony is correct about people having jaundice.
I have to admit the Canon makes it easier to look at your face. 😀
Canon just flatters you and your skin tones. Sony tells you the truth. LoL Sort of like Kodak film used to do in the bad old days what with their over-saturated reds to make people look "healthier".
Don’t the higher end rf cameras outclass Sony in terms of specs?
I feel (not backed by any math based measurements) that Sony XAVC codec cheating a bit with slight sharpening at "medium spatial frequency" levels of detail, even if profile detail setings -7, so maybe it it worth to try external recorder to avoid any posseble "Sony compression secret souce".
Cannon been Clogging your PC?
Yes, yes and yes!!!
Go for black and white.
Bro, so true.
Sold me on the Sony 😂
Put some of your canon log in Google drive and let us have a crack at grading it ? Then you get to showcase and mock our efforts ?
OH UFC Conspiracies Channel!!! Heck yeah!
