ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns with multi-Grammy-nominated Cuban-born singer-songwriter and actress Camila Cabello claiming her red chair alongside superstar returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returns as host for Season 22.
The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and Live Performance Shows. This season's Battle Advisors include Charlie Puth (Team Camila), Jazmine Sullivan (Team Legend), Jimmie Allen (Team Blake) and Sean Paul (Team Gwen). For the first time ever, the third phase of the competition will include three-way knockouts.
In the Live Performance Shows, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast, and the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

was vocal sparring on another level. Dia was more in character and really giving the lyrics that spunk. Valarie was singing her face off but not as involved, she is a vocal beast. I couldn't keep my eyes off Dia tho. - So You Wanna Be A Singer

Dia was my choice vocally and every other way. I hate Dia seemed to be trying to follow Valerie’s take of the song to make a better performance. Also to me Valerie seemed off in different places.

I used to agree, but looking back I disagree. Valarie’s tone is so much more explosive because she has, “such a mastery (Camilla),” over it, While Dia is a lot younger, making it to where he growls and tone are a lot less defined. I will say Dia’s sass made her very enjoyable to watch and her growl and vocal choices accommodated her well, when Dia sang, “I bust the windows out your car,” the second time, she lost a lot of her sassy tone making her a bit less consistent than Valarie. Dia’s lack of experience caused Valarie to surpass her in terms of consistency, making Valarie a better pick for the knockouts because she can pick a song that fully displays every aspect of her voice she wants you to hear. Giving Valarie the upper hand, and causing John to pick her.
she had no versatility or maturity in her voice. she was just screaming and improvising her runs as she did them, and valerie had intention with every run while dia was just repeating her same run, valerie objectively won

WOW, Valarie opened up and delivered some great runs but excellent control from Dia! Experience won here.

I loved Valerie from the minute she opened her mouth and let out that first note and John is right...the show is called The Voice not "Who dresses more Flashy" or "Who Shows more Attitude."

Yes I was so surprised. Valerie seemed off especially in the beginning. She changed up the song and Dia was trying to follow her new take on it. Not quite fair. Dia won for me and was the better vocalist. Not just me thinking that but every other judge except John 👎

@@kmartin494 I didn't mean the song. It's just the song doesn't fit their voice, also the Voice's Band arrangement of the song is too soft. The original has sassiness in it's instruments.
The best version for me of this song is probably Amber Riley's version from glee. She captured the sassiness and angst of the song.

They did an amazing job. Jazmine is such a hard singer to cover. This song requires a real sense of musicality to convey. The way the song ascends can either make you go completely off the rails or sound like magic when its nailed. Fabulous job ladies.

John have a “bad” reputation when it comes to picking contestants in the Battles, but I personally think he made the right decision on this one. Dia was definitely in character, she brought the sass and sang her heart out with great stage presence. Valarie wasn’t in character as Dia, but from a vocal stand point she was on A-WHOLE-NOTHER level in my opinion.
At the end of the day this is a vocal competition called “The Voice” and you guys can’t be mad at that.

Valerie is definitely the better vocalist, I’m glad John went with her. I felt like Dia got better vocally towards the end of the song and Valerie sang her butt off from start to finish.

They are good that doesn't mean they can sell records. The music industry is so tough today you need not only voice but good looks, creativity, uniqueness, daringness, youthfulness, good song writers, connections and lots of lots of luck. This may sound negative but it's the harsh reality.
