I don’t clear the cache to make it faster, I do it to get back some storage space (as little as it may be).

With all due respect Doc, I'm pretty sure you've made a video in the past suggesting we clear the cache regularly for a smoother experience.
Problem is, I've been a subscriber for a long time and tried to find the video but got tired looking. I
I don't' subscribe to any other youtubers on firestick issues so I cant blame anyone else lol. This is not a moan but thought it worth mentioning and you can perhaps clarify.

Yes same here, he has said clear the cache to help speed it up.
He does great work though and I guess things and ideas move with the times. My hat goes off to youtubers for taking time to make content. I considered starting a channel for my bus to camper conversion and then thought.....all that extra work to film me doing the work, then edit and research only to ve hit with trolls so I decided against it.

I believe this is the first video in a long time that your title /context is 100% correct (no disrespect). On firesticks in particular, clearing the cache does not speed up the stick. Yes, you will free ram, (as you'll see in the background app) but it will be used right back up when launching that app again or any other. It is better to let them "timeout" in the background, like other OS, s , this little stick is optimized well for what it does and the allocation of its resources, with the exception of a few tools by a few devs that do a great job with animation speeds and debloating, however it really only applies on the older OS's, not the newer. I created some debugging software and a lightweight apk like what maybe MSI afterburner would do as a basic example, and this is very accurate. Facts. I like this alot doc, keep with this format. Great work!

Background Apps and Processes is a must have for all firestick/TV users. Force stop is a function that really helps on any apps you may have problems with. Background Apps and Processes helps to zero in on those apps still running in the background so you don't have to go into every app on you device to force stop.

I have always just force stopped and cleared cache from app I've just used. Two seconds and never ever have i had an issue with any app and i have a lot. Runs smoothly and quickly

The reason behind clear cache is to lesson Buffering from the links you click. It only takes a few seconds to do. I never experienced it in the way of slowing apps or anything for that matter.

I use the background app but lately it has changed and I don’t know what’s going on? After closes all apps it will come up and say there are 150 apps open and they are apps I don’t use , some I do recognize what most I do not recognize? Anyone know what’s going on!!??? 😮

Thanks Doc, i will try this tomorrow, i'm still running a 2nd gen fire tv box and and every now and again it throws me out of kodi and youtube but once i've cleared the cache it sorts it out, i was restarting before that but then for a few minutes it wouldn't recognise the micro SD.

speed tool after downloading it it says Parsing error why??
Doc tried to install Tduk speed and then it told me to enable adb debugging which I did and it still didn’t work,
After I clicked download on your page, clicked install and it said file downloaded successfully. Then it said there was a problem parsing the page. I clicked done and then I could not go back to delete.
It did not end up installing.

What does clearing cache do on Fire TV?
If you're experiencing issues with a Fire TV app such as crashing, not working, content not loading, lag, or slow speeds, clear the cache. When you download an app, it temporarily stores data on your device- cache. Issues occur when a cache becomes too big; clearing it improves performance.
This is what I stated
I never clear the cache and I've never had a problem with an app. Either it runs or it doesn't. Under no circumstances does an app run faster if you clear the cache.
This video does not appear to agree with Tech Dr UK whose application clears all cache. Am I correct ? I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

I don't know what you're talkin about but I do know I've had about six different firestick I'm currently Now using the new 4k. And anytime I'm not getting links or is taking too long to load links everytime I go and clear my cache on a few apps. It definitely speeds up the process and multiple people I know have had the same problem and I told them to clear their cache and boom it starts working again

Maybe you can help with this. When im using filmplus it has a habit of doin two things. One it doesn't play when i click a link i have to press play with to get something to play. The other is while im watching a show the show will just self pause. No indication of buffering itll just pause. Would you have any recommendations to fix those things?
Hi I would suggest uninstall reinstall app, sounds like app itself is a bit buggy, lookout for updated version too. Hope this helps 👍

It’s like those people who put hot, as opposed to cold, water in a kettle in the mistaken belief that it boils it quicker - spoiler alert: it doesn’t - also, cold water has things in it that usually makes it suitable for drinking - hot water from the tap doesn’t - you could clog it up with limescale!
The problem is that I'm Constantly clearing cache for apps that I don't even use and that I'm unable to uninstall. do you have a solution for stopping unused apps from building cache??

How do I delete this app if I don’t like it after I test it?
I clear it like on youtube and twitch otherwise it will show the same information as when I closed it. its annoying opening the youtube app and it plays the last video you watched automatically without me selecting it.
I've been using Amazon Fire sticks for the last five or six years now to run some apps that allow me to watch TV shows and movies. You have to clear out the cash and you have to go into the apps and clear out the cash and you have to go into the Amazon Fire stick to clear out the cache. There's such a limited amount of memory and Amazon forces so much bloatware onto their Fire sticks that if you don't clear out the cache all the memory is eaten up and then you can't run the apps that you've downloaded through the developer options. Maybe if you're using the fire stick only to view what they put on there you don't have to delete the cash but if you're going through a developer option type of situation where you put an app on there that is not an Amazon sanctioned app then yes you need to delete the cash and you need to constantly turn off all of the running Amazon bloatware crap with some kind of bloat tool.
i rarely clear cache, only if a app malfunctions, u clear cache for space can be an issue, as when an app reopens it needs space to redownload that cache
I clear the cache everytime i use kodi. It definetly works smoother.

When watching TV shows or movies I have to clear the cache before watching the next episode,the player will not even pull up a streaming sigth

I have to disagree doc… I clear all cache weekly & my firestick max runs flawlessly… I may take an extra 2 seconds to load an app but I gain about .75 to a gig of space doing so. I clear the cache regularly as I force stop them as well…been doing this for 2 years….try for a week & let me know…. Be honest & you’ll agree… it’s extra work cause your pushing storage limits but should work for you as it does for me
