72 Hours Inside AFGHANISTAN

  • In this eye-opening travel vlog, I journey deep into Afghanistan, a country now under Taliban control once again. My adventure takes me through the bustling streets of downtown Kabul, where I meet the last remaining box photographer, preserving a fading art form amid the chaos.
I then travel to the ancient site of Banyan, where the towering Buddha statues once stood before being destroyed by the Taliban. Despite the destruction, I get a rare chance to explore the ruins and go inside the Buddha temple, a symbol of Afghanistan's rich heritage.
Along the way, local villagers prepare a unique and traditional meal, cooking it underground as part of an age-old custom. But the journey doesn't come without its risks: I find myself detained by the Taliban for questioning and unexpectedly cross paths with members of the Mujahideen, who ask me to convert to Islam.
This is an unfiltered look at life in Afghanistan under the Taliban's rule, showcasing both the beauty and the complexities of a country in turmoil. From historic landmarks to personal encounters with locals, this video provides an intimate and raw perspective of a nation navigating its turbulent past and uncertain future.

Having had two of my brothers statioed over there during the war they had there and to see it now is quite surreal as they are all so happy but under the surface it could kick off again but obviously they don't want that but fair play to you for showing it as it is now great video ❤

It is interesting to see the Afghanistan streets and markets with very few women. I give you credit for being able to see past all of the injustice in the country and just show how happy all the men are.

Cheers Mark but unfortunately you are incorrect. I went to a secret women and girls school and told them the majority of the western world stand in solidarity with them. Feel free to send me a message on X and I’ll provide the video ✌🏻

@@CallumAbroad I am very glad to hear it, Callum. I'm not on X anymore, but I have no reason to doubt your word. It is a shame you can't put the footage on TH-cam, but I can see where it would cause you safety issues and the girls and young women too.

Yes there are some women issues but you need to understand there isnt as much Taliban oppression as much as the west makes it out to be. you guys are seriously brainwashed in the west. Women are still on the streets and girls but they are not to be shown on camera and it’s not allowed because we value our women a lot we don’t people recording them and it’s better for them to stay at home ofc they deserve to travel and go out as well and not lock them away. Our culture is like this which has been like this for centuries you can’t just say everything is oppression everyone is different. By no means I support Taliban on some of their stupid laws on banning female education and banning them in public parks but you guys think women are just completely locked away and treated like sh*t. I hope you understand

I was there in 1974, passing through on the old hippie trail. There were loads of these photographers around because everyone needed photos for visas. It's good that there is no major fighting and there does seem to be a general outbreak of peace, the only major downside is the Taliban approach to half of the population, the women who are being denied virtually everything.

I’m an Afghan American, went to Afghanistan a few months ago after 39 years with my wife, 21 year old daughter, 22 year old son and my oldest son 25 year old. Everything that some people mentioned about restrictions on women were mostly false.
I’ve been actively involved in Afghanistan since 2005 through our nonprofit organization remotely from U.S. Currently we have 5 girls sewing schools in 5 different regions of Afghanistan. While public schools from 7-12 grades and public colleges are temporarily closed, many private schools from 1st to 12th grades are open and they’re called (Dar ul Uloom). They teach religious and non religious subjects. Girls private nursing schools are open as well as 1st to 6th grades public schools.
Women are working in the airports, in some government offices, they work in some restaurants, in police force, shopping malls and own businesses.

Decades of war and many people only seem to care about the lack of women on the streets. The women are beautiful and away from preying eyes. In safety, comfort & protected like treasure. The contrast with PK is because they haven’t been in war and many from the cities slack with their religion so morals/standards are compromised.
