Tip to every portrait photographer.... its as much about you and your personality. If you are an introvert it will show in the portraits. I am learning, learning, learning but that dynamism and charisma and confidence of the photographer makes alot of difference. Thanks for the great content Peter.
Great video I was shooting headshots professionally 10-15 years ago and looking to get back in to photography. He mentioned everything I use to do. Gonna check out his other videos now
I love these tips and will try to apply them, but I would have loved if you differentiated between commercial and theatrical headshots when it pertains to smiling or not smiling
Peter! THAT'S GOLD Peter, GOLD!! Thanks for being the man! And yes Peter, B&H is the #1 place for Photographer’s. If your not shopping B&H as a photographer, you are missing out big time. They have been great to me in every way over the last 20 years.
I’m looking to start headshots photography. I have a Canon T6i. What settings should I use? I have some lighting and buying a couple different backgrounds. What’s your advice?
Reach out to one of our lighting exports! They would be able to give you the best advice on what equipment you would need for your set up. You can email sales@bhphoto.com or call 800-626-6969 with any questions regarding headshot photography.
All Great Tips. Thanks Peter & B&H. The tip most forgotten by me is C O N S I S T A N C Y !! Like Peter describes, it's so much fun to explore those odd angles, leaning, upside down-but I have to remind myself that clients have to be able to see something relatable.
I've been using the jawline tip ever since Peter started telling people about it. I call it " magic string" when I'm photographing kids. I tell them it's connected to their heads and I mime gently pulling it towards the camera.. I call the squinch " Bond Villain" It's a regular scenario the hear me say " Magic string.. now add some Bond villain.. no! not that much!" It helps that kids still watch James Bond movies !
Please explain to me how cutting off the top of head on every photo you take is flattering? Why crop off the head, it looks like a mistake! Anyone else here feel the same way as me? If I were a client, I would be annoyed!
The heads are not cut off in the actual picture he took, it's a different format then horizontal TH-cam video format ....a vertical picture gets cut off in horizontal format. Think outside the box please.
Which of these 5 tips will you be trying out?
All of them...its a package deal
buying a giant sub sandwich right now, why you asking?
All... Because I wanna shabang my photos.
squanch.
Sticking the head and face forward.

Are ring lights ok to use for an actors headshots business
@@xpy1 ring lights can be harsh and not very flattering. Depending on the mood you want I would use a softbox and try or reflective umbrella.
Great video, short, and right on time information. Thank you Mr. Hurley.

I didn't know that Ryan Reynolds from future gives photo tips
Distracting that his collar is tucked under on one side...
All the Guy pics didn't have them squint AND smile. They all looked serious and angry about somehting, not approachable or friendly.
Nope
Lol. 4 or 5 tips?
