    Enjoy this short house dance warmup featuring 21 basic house steps. I perform each step for a duration of four counts of 8. You can try to repeat the warmup in its entirety, or work on any of the fundamentals by yourself. We all move differently, so make sure you find the "fun" in each of these moves, and allow your body to adapt to them with practice.

    Regardless of whether you know House, plan to learn House or don't plan to at all, I believe all street dancers should know these moves as fundamentals for your footwork. Your dance will improve immensely if you do.

      I agree my friend! The more knowledge you have, the more you can explore and the more you can add to your dance.

    I had to share this on a rave reddit. These kids shuffle skills these days hurts my soul. So glad to see dancing but wrecking a circle with style is one of the greatest feelings to me. It took me way longer than I had hoped to come across a respectable example of real foot work. Coming across this made my evening. Great video and would love to have caught you in a circle.

      @@SeanBjerke can i ask you another question? House is desribed in jacking, footwork and lofting. What is lofting?

    • @SeanBjerke
      @SeanBjerke  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Loft was a place where people went to dance to many different genres of music. It predates house. People will use “lofting” as a term to describe the dancing & energy they saw at the Loft but many 1st generation dancers will say you can’t say lofting is a dance style if it has no specific foundation - everything they experienced was freestyle. So... it can be a complex discussion lol. Based on my learnings, I say the Loft was a place that inspired a variety of creative movement. I don’t think of lofting as a dance style, but if anyone uses it to describe dance, I at least know what they are inferring. Does that make sense?

      @@SeanBjerke Kinda 😅 i'm confused cause if i google it i get no answers, there is Just standing that typical or caracteristic for House is jacking, footwork and floating. I Heard of the place nur Theres is Nobody tellin what it is. A few Sites says it stands for floorwork and there are some Vids which Shows floorwork and Titel IT with lofting. But i dont know how serios this is. ?

    • @SeanBjerke
      @SeanBjerke  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Long story short - you have to meet the people who were there (or anywhere) to get an accurate representation of what they experienced. Google won’t do it. What I can recommend - watch the documentary “Check Your Body at the Door” - chronicles the lives of various NY club dancers. You can watch it for free on youtube.
