High Speed Trains at Detling, HS1 - 20/03/19

  • Video: An evening spotting high speed trains pass by at Detling on High Speed 1. This was the first time I had been to this location after wanting to go somewhere different for a while. This is another area in 300kmh (186mph) portion of HS1, which meant there were some good moments of high speed action. However, for an unknown reason there was a hold up in the Ashford area so it meant some Eurostar trains were running at a reduced speed later in the video.
    This was filmed during the French customs strike, so some Eurostar arrivals (mainly the Paris ones) were running very late.
    TRAINS INCLUDED:
    Eurostar Class 373 TGV TMST e300s & Class 374 Velaro e320s and Southeastern Class 395 Javelins.

    • @AR86608
      @AR86608 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@meltered441 my idea is that it's getting old, you would want a nice new train running through the channel tunnel not one the is likely to break down any minute. However I love the 373s and the 374s, I felt the same way you do when thameslink got rid of it's 319s and replaced them with 700s. At first sight, I hated the 700s but when I first saw one, I quickly changed my mind and preferred the 700s. I would like to see a 373 before it goes out of service.

    • @CHOO-CHOOPlane
      @CHOO-CHOOPlane  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Business decision most likely. The 374s offer more in what they can do Europe-wise (like the Amsterdam service) and they carry more passengers (over 900 seats, compared to a 373 with 750 seats, or 758 for the refurbished ones). Don't get me wrong, I don't think they should have been scrapped in such a mass amount but that's how it is sadly.

    • @suou7938
      @suou7938 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@denelson83it’s not easy to design a train to be good on both high speed and conventional line. many features are one or the other.
      high max speed vs. high acceleration.
      stability on high speed vs. on acute curves.
      etc.
      395 also has limited space, and extra weight from being dual power.
      it maybe could have been made to go faster, but I don’t think it was worth the extra cost.
      in fact, I don’t think it’s worth it even now. 395 stops quite frequently so time in max speed isn’t so long. if Eurostar becomes more frequent and 395 starts to be in their way, then I think it’s worth it.
