Nice shots there Anthony, really showing the gradients at several locations, plus how fairly unobtrusive a high speed line can be with cuttings, tunnels, and plenty of greenery surrounding it.
Many thanks, steep gradients are no longer the big issue they once were for modern trains. The radius of the curves on the route are more of a limiting factor due to the high speeds.
@@LinesideSouthEast nah it is just other oil companies and stuff that want to be able to still make a crap ton of money. I also assume that it is harder to make a whole dedicated high speed rail rather than just making a plane and flying it from airport to airport.
High speed lines are unfortunately very expensive to build. Here in the UK there has been many political arguments regarding the vast cost building of the proposed new High Speed 2 (HS2) line from London to the north of England.
@@LinesideSouthEast You're right about that. But I believe the benefits outweigh the cost. Every time I go to Europe, I'm able to visit more than one country because of how fast, convenient and cheap high speed trains are when you get the tickets in advance.

To be fair they were not really designed to be dedicated high-speed trains. They were primarily intended to work local commuter services in Kent on both HS1 and the third rail network. This was to give the good people of Kent the feeling they gained something out of the building of HS1.

Very true, I still don't understand why environmentalist object to the building of new high speed lines. Rail is part of the solution not the problem.
