I've been following your work and found myself watching your company videos in the late hours last night. Great work dude. I'm just getting into sales with video and may be referencing some of your shots for upcoming work. Not to "steal like an artist" but more so inspiration. good shit dude. keep up the good work!
It really doesn't in my opinion. It doesn't have the fluidity of film and I think that has to do with the fact that the frame rate is too fast. It just looks like really sharp video tape to me. Think of film as water, and videotape as air. That's my analogy for it.
Nicely shot - The grade is a bit too cool so it comes off kind of clinical - Which I would argue is the opposite of why I love film so much. The warmth and comfort of it.
Thanks! My interpretation to the color is exactly that, cooler tones for the "clinical" look, as that was shot in the film laboratory in our office. ( Central Digital Lab is the name of our facility after all!) A warmer tone would be suited for a more rustic, archaic environment , just a matter of personal prefernce that is all. :)
Brilliant work. I liked it so much I watched it twice 😀 What a great tribute and way to show respect to the film medium and the people who are passionate about it. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Hi. Love your work. Could you explain how you shot this please? Shoot interview first, then WIDE of him doing everything, and then moved in for close-ups and asking him to stop and start? I hope you don't mind answering a newbie like me who knows nothing about how these type of films are shot and put together.
Charles Norm I shot from the hip, asked Rick to give me a general overview of the whole process of cleaning and scanning the film. I shot wide then went tighter every step of the way, and asked him to repeat certain actions from diff angles. The interview happened after. Thanks for watching.:)
This was beautifully shot. I just got my BMPCC 4K. Even in comparable lighting, I noticed the RAW image comes with a bit of noise. This looks so clean. Are you running a noise reduction on this?
@@sidmaderazo That's insane. How is that possible. Was that all the natural light from the room or were you utilizing any type of video light? And there's an image sharpening option? Where is that? I must be missing something in the menus.
@@sidmaderazo Sorry - I'm a noob with this camera. Liiterally got it on Thursday. I don't see it in the menu at all. Which menu, if you don't mind me asking?
AMAZING!!!! love it awesome job man i cant wait to get mine in those lenses have a amazing look also wonder how the rokinon cine lenses i have will look? im going to check into some of these tho!!
True Vision Films I got my pocket 4K two weeks ago and have been shooting on nothing but the Rokinons and the Lumix 12- 35. The Rokinons looks spectacular. And I say that as a person who owns five Zeiss CP2 lenses. The truth is, the Rokinons match up very well with the CP2s. There are minor differences in color and contrast which can be fixed in post, but the Rokinons are actually sharper - especially wide-open. The only problem is that they don’t quite focus properly at infinity, And their barrels are different, meaning that the gears for the aperture and follow focus won’t lineup from lens to lens.
True Vision Films No. My channel is about atheism, science, secularism, and religion. I don’t think my subscribers would appreciate my dynamic range tests. Hahahahaha!!! But everything I said about the lenses is based on me doing some very controlled tests on my own.
JetSmackedHD I’ve shot micro four thirds since 2012. I added Sony as my b cam video, A cam stills in 2016. So I’ve been using Sony. I’m just using it now as A cam. My GH5 is sold.
I shot using one camera so I was constantly moving around the subject- and he would repeat the master actions every time I change angles per sequence. Pretty tedious but I enjoyed the process.
@@playrecdigitalfilmes9396 Hey Sid, I really loved this short movie you have a lot of talent ! Thank you for this beautiful moment of emotion. Fun fact, I also had a shoot with the detail sharpness accidentally set to sharp .... I was so frustrated... but your movie is so good that it's not much of a problem actually.
Thanks Taka. I just find it too huge for my needs specifically for this shoot. For pro jobs I definitely use RAW. I can’t wait for the Blackmagic Raw to be made available for the BMPCC 4K.
I do not know if I'm the one who can see all that extra sharpness (looks like post sharpness), I've also noticed that in all the videos made with this camera there is too much depth of field even with 1.2 lenses , I still do not see any video with a good bokeh from this camera. Yes, it is obvious that you can get incredible colors (like this video) but, I do not know if it's the texture or the compression on TH-cam with this codec, in all the videos that I've seen the quality in general looks cheap (as what it's), in my country we describe that quality as ''light''. Look at the video on this link made with the old BMPCC and you will see more heavy texture with 0% of ridiculous extra sharpness th-cam.com/video/Y4naT5AzW4k/w-d-xo.html In conclusion the new BMPCC4k seems to me like recording with an iPhone but at 12 bit and a good dynamic range that justify the price.
Caribbean Films Why would they add extra sharpness on post when they’re shooting at 4K, all the things that you’re saying are ignorant assumptions and things of personal preference, if you think this is at all comparable to an iPhone then you’re blind af.
Color correct and color grade are two different things - the grade is the filmmaker's creative choice. It means there isn't a right or wrong answer. Just whatever suits the narrative.
gurudeclan I don’t think that’s a fair comment - we restore film, that is one of our services at our company. To call someone who is passionate about preserving film for future generations doesn’t make him stuck in the past or belligerent.
later in time isn't always "progress." Film has a rich history and is still superior to digital in many aspects. And he's not hurting anyone loving film! Let him be
In no way does he come across as belligerent! Film is used less today but its still hugely important and cannot be considered to be the past... Call Me By Your Name for example was shot on film... and its all the more beautiful for it.
