I was taking online classes from 9 - 5 so I was having to sit for long periods at a time. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxEhgucmXpcAGYh8fatGFEnOK2V97VIwhG After the first day in a regular table chair, I thought about an exercise ball and ordered one that night. It came the next day! My hips, legs, back and butt couldn't have been happier! I'm almost 5'11" and I ordered the largest size and it was perfect for me. I also have RLS (restless legs) and this helped so much.Pumping it up was a little challenging and definitely gives you a good arm workout, (I'm a 62 yo woman) but it's very doable. Getting the tape centered with the hole to inflate it and then getting the pin back in was also a little tricky. But I love my new "chair" and I love the torquiose color. Hopefully it will also get used for exercise. 😁
Beautiful just beautiful. I could make it in different sizes as planters or orbs. Where do I get the ring used on the top? Thank you for the great idea!
very interesting and useful thank you. you left out how you went about smoothing it down and rounding it out. i its kinda obvious but still interested to see your tools and approach in refinement and maintaining spherical accuracy. i have been working with circles for years and have only just taken on circles more seriously this year. ennjoying the journey. thanks again. looks great :)
I wanted to see a plant in it. (My big plastic plant container has started to break and needs to be put into another plant vase. hmm.. your concrete ball would be excellent for my plant, but I would need a bigger opening) You gave me a great idea. Thank you. (This also just reminded me of the balloon pinata I made about 12 years ago:)
Farouk ,nice. Questions.....what should I look for in material if I want it to be strong? Can i use concrete at all? Is there a way to brace it so it wont move on floor or when touched? Where can I get acid?.I want it to look gray or do I use plain concrete and somehow Polish it? Thanks man
I love it! What is the 'green' and 'red' substances you are using during the acid staining phase? And you said a person can neutralize the acid by mixing water and baking soda, so did you rinse only or did you apply some baking soda?
Very nice, may I suggest using a sponge to apply the color? Also ammonia works well to neutralize the acid color. What brand colorants were those? Thank you for posting!
Outstanding tutorial! I want a large diameter spherical-interior planter and was thinking about going hypertufa. You may have presented another option. I see that the fiberglass mesh was left in. With a 30"-40" diameter and 3 applications of concrete, how much would you estimate in weight? Also, I was not clear on curing time between courses of concrete.
+William Lighter I would estimate something around that size to be at least 60 lbs. We did have some cracking with our ball at 2 layers so i do recommend at least three layers. It is best to wait at least 12 hours between each layer ( this can depend on humidity and weather. ) In terms of strength, if you can find a product that has fiberglass in it such as Quickwall by Quickrete. This would be great for the third layer!!- Tala
That is a beautiful planter and great tutorial! Couple questions- do you leave the fiberglass after you remove the ball or do you pull it out and how heavy/durable is the planter? Would this stand below freezing temps & snow?
+Cecilia A Thank you! You do leave the fiberglass in the ball, it helps a lot with reinforcement. The planter we made was a little thin and started to crack. We only did two coats of the thin set. At least three would be ideal. For materials there is also quickcrete quickwall that has strong binding fiberts in it. We used that product a few weeks ago and it is strong! I would be curious to see how that would work with this project.
You mentioned that you tried Quickwall on a sphere a few weeks later, did you eliminate the fiber mesh tape when using that product or did you still cover the ball with it?
Hey Dawn, Sorry for the late reply. I used quick wall for a wall however I still have not tried it with the ball. I did talk to someone who tried it and said it worked great. Do keep the fiber mesh on the ball still if you use quick wall. It will be easier to release from the yoga ball and a good skeleton for the ball. Thanks for watching!- Tala
@UCV9TH557JAvnsQRL3bcodPg I used thin set and on the second coat, it cracked. I had put it out in the sun to dry faster, but thought maybe it got too hot. So, I put a third layer of thin set on and let it dry in my garage, and that also cracked. Any suggestions?
TheBushdoctor68 Valid concern..! I was surprised we did not need a base. Because the planter was so large, the potting soil that filled about a third of the planter weighed it down on its own. Again, make sure you make the outside thick enough.. at the very least three layers so it doesn't crack. Hope this is helpful!
Was not as ugly ,till he start stained ,plus I did not understand to what that sphere would attached ? By it self is too light ...Would be nice to see end result of the project .
Sharon Campbell Hi Sharon- Good question. Some of that footage was so choppy I think it got cut out. The whit stuff is Laticrete Mega Bond. This is a thin set. It is best to do about three layers of it and let it dry between each coat. - Tala
You don't have to use the same paint. you can do it how every you want or just seal it if you want it too be plain. I think a mirror finish would be cool
I think the color variation could have been done a little more evenly. The bottom is unattractive. I like the idea but the colors could have been done more pleasing to the eye.
That looks so good, it looks like trees in an Autumn Woodland scene. Well done Sir!
I love this. How do you make the bottom flat if you want to use it as an indoor planter?

Bravo Ramadan! This is very nice idea!

Awesome, ‼️I want to do few different sizes for my front yard, thank you for the video, God Bless ‼️
Wow this turned out amazing thank you for sharing your talent with us

Nah bro he didn’t leave it out, alpha men don’t smooth or round… what you see is what you get 😆😆😆
I wanted to see a plant in it.

Great job. I'm going to have to try this. Great tutorial. Thank you!
+marsneedsbunnies Thanks!
Wonderful idea and love the stained look
Love your sphere I am looking to make a garden plant pot.
Thank you for diy. Instead of fabric mesh can i use micro fibers in cement composition ?

Awesome , what did this weigh after you weir done ?
That's really cool. Thanks for making this video.
+Al Smith Thanks for viewing!:)
I have one more question. Sorry to trouble you. Should I wrap a protective film / cling wrap on the ball before adding fiber mesh
How much white cement will I need for an 18 inch diameter ball ?
Tried this technique. Cement mixture would not stay on ball. Very frustrating. Must be a majic touch I donot have. Great work.

Enjoyed the video and your expertise. What brand of concrete acid stain did you use? I couldn't make out the brand with video or audio. Thank you.

Thank you for your information! That’s really helpful.
What product are you using to smear on and what mesh product?
Great job! Did you use only white cement and water, without any sand? Or do you use glue for tyling? Thanks for sharing!
I wonder if you do this with epoxy and leave it clear would t work?
Maybe next time put some rocks in the bottom of the bucket so it will stay put! Great video, I enjoyed watching and learning your technique! Thanks!
very good job thanks for shareit
can u tell the concrete name u use in this job?
Love it! Can’t wait to try.
So beautiful! Thanks so much!
What was that mix? Cement or resin?
This is great! Does this need to be sealed with something before using it in the garden, or is it safe to put this outside as is?
Yeah
Cómo puedo conseguir la esfera de fibra de vidrio..??
How long did you wait between the first and second coat of thin set, and how thick is the finished planter?
Beautiful, what brand of stain do you use?
+Ruger Luger We used Brickform acid stains in olive and coffee.
I cannot find the mega bond cement. What can I use as a substitute?

Excellent tutorial! Thank you
I will like the cement name
Is this strong enough to use as a planter?
Amazing. Thank you
What is product that these are acid treated with? They have colour in them already and I do not know where to find them
+Shelley Oldham The acid stain we used is Brickform. They offer a variety of colors. We used olive and coffe. Hope this is helfpul!:)
can I use plaster of paris Or not???? n what's that net????plz tell
+Sehrishahmar 27 You can use plaster of Paris. Just apply at least three coats with time to dry in between coats.
Nice job. Thank you Farouk .

Thanks for sharing, vey interesting.
Nice Project... but I liked it better before the staining ;)
What as the names of the acid you use?
HOW IS THE CONCRETE WHITE?
Fantastic, thank you!
So I guess you needed to make a base for that sphere as well, because otherwise it would just roll over... right?

Very helpful, thanks. I didn't expect it to be stable enough, so that's pretty cool.
Qual tamanho dessa esfera
Eye protection always recommended with "acid" anything.
can e use plaster of paris

Beautiful
A kids ball at Walmart is $2.98 works just as well and a tad smaller
Was not as ugly ,till he start stained ,plus I did not understand to what that sphere would attached ? By it self is too light ...Would be nice to see end result of the project .
beautiful
Nice!
I would have painted it with the pour technique.
thanks
I want to make a large garden sphere but I want it to look like concrete.
Ficou lindíssima

You don't have to use the same paint. you can do it how every you want or just seal it if you want it too be plain. I think a mirror finish would be cool
Smooth white, paint with masonry paint. Job done.
