  • What do you know about curriculum standards? Or do you really think you know all you are supposed to know?
We often take the standards for granted when it is time for us to plan for our school year or even our daily lesson plans. The standards are the baseline and norm of what we are supposed to be doing in the classroom. We honestly need to spend more time understanding the power of the standard and how vital it is.
Just by looking at the standard, you can modify the curriculum, build on the rigor in your class, create high powered assessments and do so much more. They can also cut your planning time down by half and make sure that you are doing best practices first!
So gear up and get ready to have some fun, take some notes and learn some new things. We are about to set the standard straight about standards!!

This 41 minute class has completely explained what was baffling me for the last couple years. You were able to articulate the parts using language I keep hearing, but did not understand and make it visible and comprehensive. It’s going to drastically change the way I approach my lesson plans and strategic teaching. Thank you very much!

Thank you very much. You have simplified this very well. I am attending Hartwell University, and this was part of an assignment to watch. Very educational.

18:57. I am having some challenges to understand why the graphic in the vertical alignment is from top to bottom. Being a visual learner, wouldn't it be more appropriate to have 3rd grade at the bottom and move up?

Hello!! This is Teacher Jesi from a different account, I havent checked this in a long time. I actually agree with you 100%, I should have done it from 3rd grade and move up. I actually started my career in middle years so I tend to look at where a student must END up first and then work backwards. Thank you for telling me as this is great advice.

Thank you very much Jessie. This is very helpful. We ran a platform to provide PD opportunities for English teachers in China. We would love to have you on one of our Zoom presentations at some point. Do you have an email that I can contact you? Thank you!
