Oh sweet. That leather is buttery and supple. The crease on the bottom can be worked out with heat treatments if it bothers you, I would totally get the hangtag for it as well. It looks a lot like your little Emery. It would be interesting to see a comparison in your emeries vs vintage to see what differences in craftmanship Coach has made through the years.

Love your beautiful Legacy Coach happy bag. I agree with you that it looks best as a short shoulder 👍. I am not much for the new Coach bags . I prefer my vintage ones that I actually bought new in the 80’s and 90’s….all in pristine condition.

I am new here, I found you last night while searching for coach unboxing. Today I had a thredup coach box coming. I get my box and inside is the same vintage one you talked about in this video. Very similar to yours but without an outside pocket and brass zipper on the inside. I was over the moon excited. The brass hardware had some green on it, but I could clean in up. The leather was buttery smooth. In AMAZING shape all around. I spend 4 hours down a rabbit hole on the web because everything isn't adding up. Turns out it is the best fake I have ever came across. Those you talked about, most likely fakes as well. Ugh. So sad. However, if I had not watched your video I wouldn't have looked so closely at comps, the different zipper etc. Just wanted to say thanks, you saved me from committing a felony and selling it! Always a bright side! I have an email into thredup, hoping they right this wrong!
It was also Josh James's video that convinced me to go down the coach vintage route and I'm glad I did. The 9966 you got looks beautiful.

Also! Next time you're at an outlet mall that has a Coach outlet, stop by and ask if they have any vintage hangtags you could buy -- especially if you bring the bag in question. Chances are they will not only have vintage tags in the back somewhere but they may even give it to you for free or a very low price. I went to a Coach outlet on a rainy weekday a couple years back when there was no traffic in the store, chatted up the manager about rehabbing vintage bags, and asked if she had any spare vintage hangtags I might be able to purchase. She went into the storage area and came back with a tupperware full of them and let me choose whatever ones I wanted for free. It was SUPER generous and I can't say other managers or staff will be able to be equally generous with them, but damn that was a fun time.

OMG🤩🤩🤩 this is my all time favorite vintage Coach bag!!! Love the 9966💖 The leather is phenomenal and it holds a lot without being bulky. Mine is black with nickel hardware. I got it immediately after watching Just Jennifer compare hers to her Hermes Evelyn. I was sold 😂 THAT started me down the vintage Coach road and I haven’t looked back🤩 TFS!
I just had a quick look at her bags on Etsy, she has some beautiful bags. I have the Mini Belt bag, I got in a bundle with the Casino bag and another pouch for $80.00 for all three. Great feeling when you scored.
You sure scored with the Legacy. It’s so much like the Emery, just a little wider at the bottom. I’ve had the Emery for awhile and just used it for the first time the other day.
If you still have the picture I sent you of the vintage bags you’ll see the belt bag and beside it is the Casino bag. I cleaned and conditioned these. These came all the way from Nova Scotia.

The bags on the etsy shop look lovely, only problem she doesn't ship to Australia. Though I may have to look into that. I have seen Josh's videos before but haven't been game enough to wash my bags in the tub, I may also need to think about that too. Why don't you have a go at restoring a bag for yourself?

This was my 1st Coach bag ever and I still have mine. When I saw the belt I knew it was it.
I just knew that was from the legacy collection in the early 2000s. I love the vintage and legacy bags. If I remember correctly, bags made before 2000 do not have rivets.

So if u call Coach or go into a store and tell them you need a hangtag for a vintage legacy bag they will give you a solid brass tag to put on the bag!!!

My 9966 is from 98 and has a brass inner zipper
Bought one from Coach in 2004

How does this Etsy seller get the brass to look so nice? I use Brasso that I order on Amazon, but I don't get results like this.

I am the Etsy seller! I use jewelry pads and Wizard metal polish.
Sometimes Coach put a protective coating that needs to be removed once it starts to peel to obtain an even polished look. A Dremel tool is helpful to get that layer off. Good luck!
Many of the houses made better bags in the early 2000's. The newer bags are not the same quality.
She probably conditioned it! Depending on the condition she received the bag in will determine what process she used. I only ever purchase vintage coach , dooney and Louis Vuitton. The bags are better quality.
