My husband has a briefcase in Black leather and silver hardware. It’s the same basic design as the photo but the closers in front are different. He uses it daily and it’s 26 years old! I bought it for him when he graduated from college. This series has been so fun ❤
This is such a fascinating deep dive! So informative and fun. As a publication designer, I especially enjoyed the little travel through time with the catalogs and how their design gradually grew and changed with the times. I also find myself wanting to look for some of those vintage bags online! 😊
I have discovered that the catalogs are VERY dangerous in that way. I'm always finding new things I must have. 🤣 I've designed a catalog before and 10 yearbooks so I also find the evolution of the layouts, photography, and information fascinating. They certainly tell a story.
I too, am fascinated with the stories behind the legacy bags . I’ve often wondered who they were and their importance to have a bag named after them . Bravo to the work you’ve put into this series ! Love it 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for this series on Coach! I stepped away from Coach for awhile, but these videos have brought back my love for Coach and I’m learning so much about its history. Thank you Autumn 😊
Another great video Autumn. I’m fortunate to have a couple of coach bags that I purchased in the 1990’s directly from Coach. I’m sorry that I sold a red city bag about 2 years ago. The quality from then was amazing. Since I started with luxury about 5 years ago, I haven’t used them used, but am now re-appreciating the craftsmanship. Thank you for always providing great and educational content.
Absolutely fabulous video! I am so grateful to you for all of the research you're doing to pull this history together and the talented way in which you tell the story. I'm a life-long Coach fan and I am learning so many facts from this series. You are much appreciated!
Great video Autumn. It is very through and i really learned a lot after watching your video. I had my first Coach Eddie handbag in 2015 when i first dip my toe into luxury. Back then, Coach is luxury to me. Now it is still given that it is not cheap either although the prices are not as high as LV and other top brands out there. Yes my Eddie shoulder tote has a very supple leather by now and i love it. The only thing i was underwhelm is the SLG (Zippy wallet) the color came off and i have to get the color back by going to the spa. Then i remembered getting the Coach outlet to spa it too at one point and the lady was rubbing the interior so hard at that time saying that those are dirty but actually causing the interior to peel. From there on, i never purchase any Coach item anymore. I do not know why they hired someone that do not know how to clean those items to do it. I think she is an SA and not specializing in cleaning. Ok, i know they may not hire one to just do cleaning at the store but perhaps at least train them how to do it then. I am very sure that is after the cleaning that the peeling starts to happen. I have two Coach handbags, the first one being the Coach Eddie shoulder handbag and the 2nd one is the camera bag. I have videos on all these in my TH-cam channel. So far these two are fine but the interior of the tab starts to peel off. I was told that is not leather by Tanner Leather TH-cam video where he once tears apart Coach handbag. Thanks for your lovely information. May give them one more chance if i see anything that i like.
This is an awesome series. I’m a Coach fan. I’m looking for more Legacy bags. I plan to also buy one metallic and swing bag. I lived in Atlanta during the Olympics so I may hunt something down from that line.
Thank you for sharing this! It was so fun to hear your insights and the bits of trivia you learned while researching. I think it's funny, but as Coach collectors we all seem to feel like the era we got started was the best. For me, that was Krakoff in the early 2000's, so I'm excited for you to drop that episode.
This was awesome! I would love to see more about the campaign that featured the descendants you mentioned. I don’t remember some of these collections, so finding some of these that were around briefly would be a real treasure.
You’re doing an amazing job! It’s interesting and inspiring me to find these older bags. I’d now know the name of some of them! Can’t wait for the next era and the gaudiness of it all. 😂
Fabulous information! Looking forward to the next instalment and I would enjoy a read through of the book you showed. Thank you for the video! Have a gala weekend!
Which bag are you talking about? The green mock croc, perhaps? If so, that's a Teddy Blake bella bag. I have a link for them and a coupon code in the description box if you're interested.
Very interesting! I’m about 10 years older than you so I remember some of this when it happened - like the naming of the bags after customers. Coach was quiet luxury before quiet luxury was a thing. I remembered that Coachies thought LV was tacky. I bought the majority of my bags in the late 80s and 90s, but when they got away from that minimalist esthetic, I couldn’t do it.
Utterly engrossing! I have only one Coach bag, but it's much more recent, so I'm looking forward to the next episodes. Yes please, to a look through that catalogue, and more on the Legacy stories?
So much good info. I am really enjoying your Coach deep dive videos. I have one of the Sonoma bags (brown nubuck bucket- purchased new) and still use it. It's still in great condition and literally all I do is brush it off every few years. It is a perfect winter bag.
YEEEEES! LOVE this! You did your homework, lady! GoodNESS. Thanks so much for sharing! This was THOROUGHLY entertaining. Kinda hate that Coach was "forced" to change through the years.😔 Looking forward to seeing "what came next!"😂
The Spectator collection is just glovetanned leather (I have a White and Tabac City bag from my birthyear); Coach first used magnetic closures on some bags from the original lightweights collection and can be seen in the Spring 1989 preview catalog...
The saddle bag is looking good still, I hope you found a Patricas legacy to get the long strap. I had an 80’s counterfeit bag, back in the day… I found it at a flea market in 1989. The hardware wasn’t solid, it was plated. But the leather was just as thick as a authentic bag.
Hi, lots of interesting information in this video. You know I have one very distinctive memory from the legacy collection, it was reading about a young lady who was a descendant of George Washington. I was so glad that the Washington Family continued to today. Plus am looking for a bag for the made in Italy Madison collection.
For the missing catalogues have you tried contacting any of the fashion universities? FIT may have some or can direct you to a resource that might have those missing years.
I have a spectator court and the leather is the same as the other courts. I love my bag from the Sheridan collection. And always yes to your questions do you want a video on XYZ topic!!!!
I know the answer! First, it wasn't just Rexy and Steggy, there were others like Uni and Sharky, too. They've been called Coach Mascots and Coach Beasts. Stuart Vevers (Coach's current designer) introduced them in 2016 (if I remember correctly) and as for why...it was just for fun! That was literally the reason. At some point I'll do a video going more in depth on these guys and on Rexy herself (a lot of people don't know she's a girl). :)
I can still remember when having a Coach bag was comparable to having an LV in today’s market. Fascinating video and research!❤

I had no idea I was interested in Coach history. Turns out, I am! Thanks for all the information, Autumn. LKMH
Ha! That's great to hear. Thank you. :)
Same! 😂
I love a good teacher who uses their gift to talk about HANDBAGS 🥰😭😭😭😭
I am truly loving this series. Thanks Autumn. I know how much work you have put in to bring this info to us
I am really enjoying these series. When did Coach outsourced their bag production to China?
This is an excellent series! Your voice is calming but not monotonous! It is a joy to listen to you!❤
I absolutely loved hearing this history of Coach. I bought several classic bags in the 80's.
Do you still have any of them?
@@AutumnBeckman No, unfortunately.

This is amazing. Also seeing how affordable the bags are makes me wish I could go back in time with my money and buy them up
I too, am fascinated with the stories behind the legacy bags . I’ve often wondered who they were and their importance to have a bag named after them . Bravo to the work you’ve put into this series ! Love it 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! I realized that catalog didn't mention Patricia's legacy. Need to figure out that one.
This is fascinating. You have done a very professional job with great research and preparation.
Yes, please do a bonus video on the book, The Factory. Thank you.
Thanks for all of your hard work….
The vintage Coach with raw leather reminds me of current day Portland Leather Goods
Same! I keep being reminded of them, too.
Thank you for this series on Coach! I stepped away from Coach for awhile, but these videos have brought back my love for Coach and I’m learning so much about its history. Thank you Autumn 😊
Yes please to the extra videos, especially the descendants collection advertising.

Hi Autumn! I'm really enjoying this series. Can't wait till next Thursday! So much research and information and hard work, thank you Autumn!!💕☺️🇨🇦
I own a Coach wallet purchased in 1989. Still looks great.
That's great to hear!
Very enjoyable, Autumn. This must have taken a ton of time research and put together and I, for one, appreciate it❤
Thank you. It did. I have 17 pages of notes for this video! 🤣
I just love your Coach videos! Love the mysterious "Unknown Designer"
It's baffling that I can't find any information on them! Clearly, someone was designing new Coach bags. They were very prolific.

Love. Love. Love!!! So riveting. Can’t wait for the next class. Can we take a test afterwards and get a Coach degree from Beckman University?
This series is so interesting! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. ;)
Loving this series. I will watch whatever you put out here! Thank you!
