both will work, whatever you are more comfortable with. Boots will prob be better to keep the sand out especially if you have gaiters. But not necessary.
Awesome, Nick. Planning to climb Big Daddy next week when we are there. I'm getting on in years a bit, but been hiking all my life. Your recommendation on the route? "Your" route or the more standard route? (or does the title of your video answer the question? :-) ) Cheers
Hi Clyde, yes stick to the preferred route, like i said never again😂You shouldn't have any issues, whilst up there a guide told me a very old lady managed it when youngsters in their 20's couldn't. Its all in the mind he explained
Go climb Dune 7 at Walvishbay Namibia - it is the highest moving dune in the world and the 7th highest in the world. Big Daddy is a great climb, but Dune 7 is truly an awesome climb and a nice ride down on a sled.
I need to go and give it a go then. I've been there, but did not climb to the top. Will take a sled and GoPro as well, sounds like fun! I'll be back in Namibia end of the year.
@@NickfrNamibia Hmm ok. I do however see a lot of videos from pre-covid where the amount of tourists there is sparse. Is it normally packed like crazy?
It usually is quite busy, especially in season around May to Oct. Out of season is better. Also I think the persons that make the videos go very early in the mornings when most people haven't arrived yet. That is what I would suggest you do as well, also much cooler in the early mornings.
Bought back so many memories, fabulous! Please keep on with your 'stupit ideas' 🥰
Spectacular views Nick
Great stuff, will be climbing it in Dec 21. Will make sure its very early in the morning!
Have fun Deon! Definitely do that, gets hot quite early in December. My other favourite part is the last 5km driving through the sand to Sossusvlei
Positive attitude!!! Yesssiirreeee 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
always🤪
what is best to wear n your feet? hiking boots? running shoes ? than kyou for the video

we also did it - it was hard escpecially if you are the first one and there are no "steps" in front of you

Its a wetland, but that doesnt make sense if you look at the scenery😂
How long did you take to reach the top ?

That's a lot of sand in your shoes bro lol

Can you find yourself alone there often enough? Or is that just due to covid
that is covid, when tourism is back to normal in Namibia you'll never be able to be alone there. It is Namibia's #1 tourist attraction.

@@NickfrNamibia hmm ok. I was hoping to go in January or so. Hopefully it won't be too busy then. Having the place to yourself just seems so surreal
it is very surreal! January is definitely a good time to go, covid or no covid. Just remember it is the middle of Namibian summer and will be hot🔥

ja julle moet daar uitkom, Tankwa is vrek mooi!
So cool. We’d like to do this climb as well. How long does it take approximately?
It is extremely beautiful up there. Takes about an hour, 5-10 mins to come down again🙂
I know how it feels ;)
haha, its bad😂 when did you climb?
@@NickfrNamibia our japanese guide suggested to do it barefoot, I was happy with big shoes though ;)
