These 1960 to 1979 videos are so excellent, illuminating as well as very interesting. I actually watch them more than once, twice or even more to take in all the pertinent info you have packed into each one of them! Great work!🎶👌

i’m loving your 60s-70s series! the only thing i’d like to add is the band’s last concert that occurred on thanksgiving in 1976 called, the last waltz. directed by martin scorsese and guests featuring bob dylan, neil young, van morrison, joni mitchell, and so many more, it is packed with a beautiful farewell to my personal favorite band. ❤

Jimmy Carter was never really appreciated while he was President but he served as an inspiring example of not only how to be a great former president but also how to be just an all-around great person. He & his wife Rosalyn volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for decades- building homes for disadvantaged Americans. He retired from this work only a few years ago & recently celebrated his 100th birthday.

LoL, I grew up during this period, most people hated the job he was doing as a president but nobody ever said he was a bad man. He was just in the wrong role as president but he was a great man, I think that was pretty much everybody's opinion of him. LoL, remember his brother Billy?😂

Another great year and you are doing such a good job of talking about the highlights of each year. One of the bands I thought of that you haven't mentioned is the soft rock group "Bread" - their romantic songs were often the last slow song played at high school discos, songs like "Baby I'm a want you", "Everything I own" and "Make it with you" were designed for teenage girls in love!
You were right about Farrah Fawcett's iconic hairstyle - every girl was trying to get their hair to do that flicky thing!

I'm a huge fan of retro/ vintage adidas, i have quite a few pairs of trainers/sneakers. t'shirts and franz beckenbauer retro tracksuit tops.🔥 . Never mind the bollocks such a great sounding album a snarling visceral thunderbolt of working class rage and angst🔥 . Great films once again🌟🌼

I really like your Farrah hair - nice homage to an icon of the era.
With parts I’d bought at Radio Shack, scavenged from the college engineering lab, and cobbled together myself, I built my first crude PC sometime in 1976. I was learning more about PC design from ad-hoc local groups of fellow nerds than what college offered, but I wanted the degree for future employment opportunities. My creation was slow and had almost no memory, but I could write simple programs and have it do things. I was enthralled with the possibilities. It showed me a future. Looking back, it was limited, yet a start, and I felt like I was on the ground floor of boundless potential.

The Eagles released “Hotel California” that year. I got Hotel as soon as I could lay my hands on it. My girlfriend Carolyn and I listened to it repeatedly. It had musical qualities to which we could both relate as nonnative transplants to the West Coast-the hopes and disappointments of California living. That became one of our three go-to albums: Springsteen’s “Born to Run” and Billy Joel’s “The Stranger” released the next year. We had both lived around New York in the 60s, and their music and attitude connected with us.

Carolyn involved me with her theatrical friends. It was a highly eclectic group of people from all walks of life and attitudes. Fashion was a big interest in her crowd. I learned to put aside my blue jeans at night and dress like it was no longer 1968 and discussed highbrow art and culture. But by day I kept to my geeky attire as I straddled two distinct cultural worlds.

I was 16 with long blond hair in 1976, about 10 years later my kids saw photos of me and teased me, laughing about my "wings". my hairstyle. Talk about putting me in my place.

1976. I was 16 years young , struggling with my sexuality. It was hard in the 1970s being gay. I never heard anything positive about gay men. I felt very alone and depressed. Anyway things are much better for young gays in 2024. I wore my hair long. Flared trousers were popular and platform shoes. Songs i liked then were Fox with their song S - S - S Single Bed , David Dundas with his song Jeans On , and Scottish group The Bay City Rollers with their song Saturday Night which topped the American Billboard charts.

Curious where you are from. I've never heard anyone pronounce "politics" like you do. I'm guessing you are not native to the US.

Perhaps due to the Republican administration’s orientation to business and localism, the official bicentennial effort largely consisted of licensing a logo to small town parades and patriotic themed commercial products. On another subject, when did the perception of polyester as “tacky” and tasteless set in ?
