Whats the lifespan of the battery?

It's the same with the Toyota hybrid system. The main difference is that Nissan electric motor drives the wheels directly unlike the Toyota it has a power split device. And the Nissan ICE kicks in at high speed to charge the battery. With Toyota it is both ICE and electric motor at high speed to drive the wheels.

Electric motor efficiency is 80%-90% to power wheels
Gas or Diesel engine efficiency 20%-30% to power wheels
so it much better for electric motor to power the wheel than Gas or Diesel engine
