Semi related: I think Triple Inkstrike is an underrated special on this mode. One strike will remove a Bubbler on tower, and then you have two more to force enemies to move. It also functions pretty well as a counter to other specials (Inc Vac can't stop it, Crab Tank has to move or die, 1 strike pops Wave Breaker, 1 strike breaks Booyah armour, etc.)
We just need Tristrike to be on a better weapon (or to have slosher be more comparable to machine) and it'll certainly rise quickly in usage amongst top teams. I'm a big fan of the special being high risk/high reward and I'm excited to see how the meta carries it throughout the games lifespan
@@joshk147 I know the Brella isn't everyone's favourite weapon, but as a mid riding the tower the Triple Inkstrike is good for displacing the anchor pestering you. Helps you punch through the checkpoints.
"The only time there's ever a point in having two players on the tower is when you push through a checkpoint" There's also a point if someone is just going to be on the tower for a second. Typically this is to pop a special, but it could also be to place a sub in some cases. For example, maybe the Hydra is building up a charge on the tower, but then the roller goes up, sticks their Big Bubbler on the tower, and leaves again. Or a Splattershot might need a little extra height to make their Trizooka shots and the tower is the most convenient option. Also, in situations where it's down to the last couple seconds of the game or OT and you're about to get lead, the same logic about sticking on it in a dangerous situation can sometimes apply, particularly in solo. If an enemy with a better weapon at close range jumps onto the tower, sometimes the rider will retreat, which in OT costs the game. If you have two people on, and one flees from an enemy, you don't lose the game instantly, the tower pauses until one player is gone/splatted.
I think one of the main thing people need to know is when to do a tactical retreat and that sometimes giving the opponents the tower might be the best option.
Yess! New video! EDIT: One minor criticism, I think the music could be a little quieter, or less "energetic". It's a bit distracting from your voice. I didn't mind the Alterna music you used in the latter half.
It's nice to have a straightforward strategy guide for this mode... I've always found it a bit frustrating, but knowing how the Tower works was already a huge step in the right direction, let alone the rest of the info! Many thanks as always, Gem!
If your team is blessed with a Jr. and other Big Bubbler weapons for this mode, you can quite easily chain shields your way to at the very least past the first checkpoint. It's so incredibly dumb, but I love it. -I still get to use a Blaster as well-
@@m4rcyonstation93 I started using regular blaster and got a team of Jr. , Splat Roller and Clash Blaster. In anarchy series as well. It was incredibly fun. Definitely made up for the "Nintendo online" moments the previous two series ended up in.
Since reaching A+ rank (I'm S now) I've been avoiding tower control and clam blitz, they're way harder to instinctively understand how to play them properly. Even though this video helps explain a lot of stuff I'm still worried my teammates will not know any of this even at these ranks.
Clam Blitz is either the most fun and intense mode in the game or the absolute WORST mode in the game, depending on how well your team meshes together. Last night, I got lucky and was paired with a BOMB team and we all understood what each other was doing, and nobody was looking for selfish kills. Needless to say, that was a flawless series win! But then there are other times where the team acts like absolute idiots and they just operate as every squid for themselves and they just go for kills, which leads to a loss almost every single time. That's the only flaw with Clam Blitz: it requires team work, but too many people don't realize that Splatoon is a TEAM shooter, so the mode suffers for it!
Lowering the big clam quota from 10 to 8 makes clam blitz much more enjoyable. It’s such a small change fundamentally but it makes everything much faster. Also love the organ jingles that play when you break a basket.
I'm thankful TH-cam algorithm recommended me videos from your channel because your content is so informative, especially for the fairly new player I am (I've been playing since Splatoon 3's launch, but didn't get to play the two previous games). I especially like this series of vids because being new to the game, the veterans SCARE me to no end and I get stuck playing Turf War because I'm too afraid to try Anarchy Battles (especially since there's no proper tutorial in game for the different modes and the game is just like "WELP, play and figure it out yourself !" while you're getting splatted over and over by people with much more experience than you). Of course, nothing beats practice, but it's giving me a bit more confidence to know what exactly is going on in those modes (that seem much more fun that Turf War, let's be real) and I might start playing more Anarchy Battles in the future. So I want to thank you for the work you put in these vids, can't wait for the next part of this series !
Wonderful video! I've been looking forward to it and I'm happy to be learning from it now that it's out. I really feel like I am better able to analyze the game state thanks to your lessons. However, for someone like me, who has auditory processing issues, the choice of music and pacing for the first several segments of the video made it harder to comprehend. I had to pause and replay the part about overtime several times to be able to process information spoken to me. I assume it's because of the extra lyrics or the guitar solo in the song. The chaotic Salmon Run music also created a sense of urgency in the video that made it harder to absorb information at that particular part. But this isn't something that occurs often in your videos at all, you are still my favorite content creator for Splatoon education, because you pace and explain information in a way that is almost unusually understandable to me on account of my issues. In fact, later in the video when you had faster Deep Cut songs on the background, I had a sense of vigor and inspiration instead or urgency and discombobulation. I'm not skilled enough to explain how that was different from earlier, but maybe because you took more pauses in your reading to let my mind collect itself? Regardless of all that, thank you so much for making videos. No other content creator that I know of manages to talk about the game in a way even a beginner could understand like you do, while at the same time not being "cringe" or a person of dubious morality. It's a breath of fresh air for me, coming from Fortnite community where the majority of content is clickbait, disrespect of lower skill players or other types of discrimination. You are a great help to the community, please continue bringing goodness and acceptance to the world and I hope that your career path is stable and successful. 🍀
Really informative video. Well done!. You are really pro and unbeatable in something: teaching. You are a great teacher. You showed the small details and everything was completely understandable and the information was precise and to the point. And pertinent where it needed to be. This video will be really useful for so many players, new and veterans alike. But if the viewers are considered students in your squidschool, I will be a bad one lol. Now if you excuse me, I will go grab the tower control at the start of a match, me as a sploosh main just for the lols, to then throw a curling bomb on top of it when I bail it out as a valid tactic to catch other shortrange weapon players retaking the tower lol XD.
This video is awesome. I saw it a few weeks ago when I started playing Splatoon 3 with the objective of becoming a better player. Now that I'm stuck in A+ I rewatched it and understood many things that I need to consider and that I was doing wrong. I'm a fan of Squid School!
zonetower blitzmaker, there is a clam basket on the tower that you must have open, while holding the rainmaker and have the tower covered in your ink all to push the tower forward.
Can’t wait for Splat Zones, got to a higher rank by mostly playing Tower and Rainmaker (on accident, I just always happened to be playing during those rotations), and now I have no idea what I’m doing in Splat Zones against good opponents!

my main for tower control is octobrush, not only because of good mobility and damage, but also because of suction bombs. I highly suggest any weapon that has a method of keeping opponents off of the tower for long periods of time, such as targeting specials to force opponents to move, such as tenta missiles, and specials that can get in the towers path to force opponents to move, such as triple inkstrike. however, my favorite is bombs, especially suction bombs. they're more accessible than specials, they have a large blast radius to cover at least most of the tower space, they have a long arm time to force opponents off of the tower for longer than other bombs, and they're great for throwing down when you think you're about to die. I've gotten many kills on this one sub on this one mode, so my greatest suggestion for objective pushers is to run any weapon with suction bombs on tower control
Thanks so much for these series! I ranked up to S for the first time at the end of Splatoon 2, and I've been sweeping more matches than usual all the way up to S+0! Now that I actually understand how to play the game, it makes it a lot easier (who knew?)
These videos are awesome! Looking forward to future ones. Despite not being able to communicate in solo anarchy battles it’s definitely helped me pick better weapons for my play style and subsequently get more wins.
Tower control feels like the only mode I have any skill on, everything else just makes me feel like some kind of idiot who gets shot in the back with teammates that are all allergic to squid jumping.
tower control is my favourite mode, one of the strengths of tri-stringer is that it is able to hit the tower rider from anywhere on the tower. love sniping people off the tower ❤❤
Ohhhh my gosh, I somehow didn't know checkpoints reset if you don't fully clear them. Thanks for that! Been playing for years and never noticed that detail.
Not sure how much this applies in competitive, but in solo queue, it feels like you don’t want to push tower when the enemy blaster player (if they have 1) is alive and near the tower, as depending on the blaster, it can be very hard to escape them when they begin blasting at whoever is on the tower. I played both blaster and range blaster to 4 star on TC mostly and it’s practically free kills on who’s blindly rushing pushing tower
I main Explosher- and i usually spam point sensor onto to the tower and it really helps rush down enemies who go onto to the tower but have fled due to being tracked. Just another tip for a sub with this mode.
Excellent video as usual! If i can make one suggestion, please either turn the background music down a little or maybe just use the Alterna hub area songs because the battle music is a little distracting 😅

@1:08, what do you mean by "the salt sprayer problem"? I'm new to the series with three so even if it's something obvious I don't quite get what you're referring to. If someone could clarify, I'd appreciate it! (sorry)
Saltspray Rig was a Splatoon 1 map with the wrong kind of map symmetry, giving one side right side peek advantage based on what side of the map they spawned on.
i once got a team with 2 E-Liters a Hydra splatling and me; a Splattershot JR. We lost, we got like 17 points and then immediately died to their splat dualies and double .52 gals.
Wanted to note a correction: skipper and saltspray are also symmetrical just a different kind of symmetry, reflective, while most maps have rotational symmetry
Reflective symmetry gives one team an advantage, though, since you can peek your weapon around the right side of a wall to shoot while exposing yourself less to enemy fire, whereas you need to move entirely out of cover on the left to shoot. The maps are physically symmetrical, but not symmetrical gameplay-wise.

Reflective symmetry gives one team an advantage, though, since you can peek your weapon around the right side of a wall to shoot while exposing yourself less to enemy fire, whereas you need to move entirely out of cover on the left to shoot.
