Ahhh, one of my fave genres...yep, I had to wait a wee while for Taito 1 and Namco but finally I have them. I always end up paying more for these!! I have William's on the way FINALLY, which will be my ultimate because of the genius of Defender. Man I paid too much for it, but got so tired of waiting for this rarity. I hope you found some more great arcade titles since this vid. Great clips you have provided with your collections, really interesting. Thanks heaps.
That brings back memories with Sonic. I used to play for hours on my Sega genesis. I haven't played video games in like almost 6 years. I used to play for hours nonstop and I'd be really addicted to that. No sure if I'll ever get back to video games.
Mega Man Anniversary collection is my all time favorite retro video game compilation. The Mega Man X collection is pretty nice too. Nice collection you have here, I like the one with the 3d glasses, never heard of that one.
I love retro compilations. A collection of like 20 arcade-perfect games on one disc. All the young teenagers these days don't understand how big of a deal it is. Back then, you couldn't get arcade-perfect games on SNES or Genesis or even N64. And the games were like $50 each. You can get 20 games on a disc now for like 19.99. Even cheaper on eBay. Just ordered the Capcom Classics. I have Atari Anthology, Midway 1& 2, Taito Legends, Metal Slug Anthology, Namco Museum, and SegaGenesis collection
And the best part about retro compilation game titles? You can save your game and continue where you left off whenever you get a game over or decide to quit out of a certain game. Look at Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES, Sonic Mega Collection on the GameCube along with Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sega Genesis Collection on the PS2, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on the PS3, Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Mega Man X Collection, Metal Slug Anthology, etc. That's what I love about retro compilation game titles. You get to save the game and continue where you left off whenever you get a game over or decide to quit out of a certain game.
Very nice set of classics. I have the Sonic Mega Collection Plus on my PS2 as well. I also have the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which features the 8 games, Mega Man 1-6 (NES), Mega Man 7 (SNES), and Mega Man 8 (PS1). It also has a couple of arcade titles to unlock. So if you wanna relive the adventures of the blue bomber, go for it.
@Zaranyzerak I have no idea. I knew wireless PS2 controllers existed, but that's the extent of my knowledge of them. "Why not a wireless PS2 controller?" was as much a genuine question as it was a suggestion. Now that I know they're not very responsive, your plan to re-buy games for the PS3 makes much more sense.
Taito Legends are my top favorite for compilations, even though the 2nd one is like 200$ now. The first one [blue cover] has a game called Plotting from Japan that is amazingly addictive.
Sonic Gems Collection, the other Sonic collection you were talking about, saw a European and Japanese release. I bought it for £5 a few years back brand new :D
i love the old collections too. the tiato collection 1 is essential for your collection. my favorite with out question. you also need the the first capcom collection.
@Zaranyzerak If you planning to get Gamecube - get component cable for it. Picture quality on this cable is GREAT. SW:Rogue Squadron 3 now look's almoust like an HD game. To get things better, Im connecting GC with thic cable to Harman Kardon amplifier. Harman takes GC signal, upconverts to 1080p and transmits it via HDMI to my tv.
Sonic CD, Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters and some GameGear Sonic's are on Sonic Gems Collection for PS2! Unlockables are Vectorman 1+2 ! On the Japanese Gems Collection (Technically Identical with the US-NTSC Disc) only Playable with Japanese PS2 / Emulator with Japanese PS2 Bios there are also Bonanza Bros.1+2 and Streets of Rage 1-3!
I'm commenting late here, but if you were ever a fan of old Capcom arcade games, (Street Fighter 2, Bionic Commando, Forgotten Worlds, etc.) they did put out two really good collections on PS2. Also, there's some fantastic Neo Geo collections as well, but they do focus more on the 2-D fighting genre, as that was their main staple. But there is a compilation that has a good mixture of a lot of the old classic Neo Geo titles. =-)
I have the Activision Anthology and the first Midway Arcade Treasures. I don't play them nearly as often, now that I've upgraded to PS3 (damn you Sony, and your misleading "It Only Does EVERYTHING" Campaign!). They bring back a LOT of memories! I also have Dragon's Lair; it was released by the same people who did the Time Traveler game.
Actually, i know Dr. RoboTNIT. I work with him everyday at Antari Corp. He's a really nice guy, a bit weird though, but pretty nice. He has also a very weird mustache. We told him COUNTLESS times to shave it, but he doesn't listen.
Wow that bible humper there is a complete Queef !! What the hell is he doing watching you're videos anyway? Anyhow , great PS2 collection Sean! All the classic games still rule!!
@debjohn2 its not your video skipping, thos are the jump cuts he did so you don't hear the messups/laughs/burps/farts lol so yea ...and there ya go (sean reference)
there's a rumor of a dreamcast emulator coming to the ps3 (take it with a grain of salt) but you know me i wouldn't tell you if i hadn't herd it more then once if i had to guess it would be dreamcast downloads not disk emulation but it would still be cool to get like the first soul caliber or virtua fighter
theres also a sega classics collection for ps2 that i saw you dont have. and theres a snk vol 1 neo geo for psp and ps 2. and that has some neo geo games on it. you didnt show those just thought id share.
Yeah, I know there's still a bunch I don't have. Probably going to get those in other collections by this point. I didn't bother with the Sega Classics because it was all "updated" versions of the old games. I just want the old games. I did a more recent version of this overview here: th-cam.com/video/qhVLSq_R6MI/w-d-xo.html
I have the Sonic Gems collection on the PS2, but it's not it's not as good as the collection you showed. I prefer the Genesis Sonic games over Sonic CD, Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters. Those retro collections are good value for money for old school players. If you play with a friend Gantlet and Rampage are a good laugh. Having the Mortal Kombat games is also cool.
Sonic 4 is being released in episodes some point this year its the first 2d versions in years but with a 3d twist there was leaked footage ages ago for it just google sonic 4
Well you should be able to pick up Gamecube consoles and games used on the cheap, but the Sonic Gems Collection, may fecth for a bit more. Well in Europe Sega did release Sonic Gems (which has Sonic CD, Sonic the Fighters, Sonic R and the more challenging Game Gear including Sonic 2, which means Sonic Mega Collection plus dosen't have the first six titles included in that) on the Playstation 2. It's ironic isen't it, SEGA were good to us, but Capcom wasen't.
Get a wii instead that way you can still play gamecube games. Although you need controlers & memory card from gc. Plus if you get a wii you can play Brawl :)
@QuantumNerdo Really? Do you see us hassling your soup kitchen? I can't say it better than Sean, but how about you leave well enough alone. Great vid Sean!
Why not just buy a wireless PS2 controller or two? One purchase gets wireless convenience for all your PS2 games rather than re-buying many games for much more.
Really nice retro compilation collection mate. I'm currently going through a phase of just buying retro compilations for my PS2.
Ahhh, one of my fave genres...yep, I had to wait a wee while for Taito 1 and Namco but finally I have them. I always end up paying more for these!! This version of Rush 2049 was ported from the Dreamcast, though there was an arcade version too. Excellent game.
Sonic Gems Collection, the other Sonic collection you were talking about, saw a European and Japanese release. I bought it for £5 a few years back brand new :D
great classics games collection! sonic heroes is one of the best games for ps2.
i love the old collections too. the tiato collection 1 is essential for your collection. my favorite with out question. you also need the the first capcom collection.

cool ps2 collection that i mostly have more than xbox, wii, xbox 360,gamecube games i owned.
Timeless! Thank you for share.
Gee, I wish I had an Antari. Haha. I actually want to start collecting the cabinets of the older games.

What vid did you show your Dragon's Lair DVD?
Are you talking about the Blu-ray? Right here: th-cam.com/video/6heN6TXxpZM/w-d-xo.htmlm22s
Zaranyzerak ok thank you. I'm thinking of getting Dragons Lair Trilogy on Wii.
All time greatest game of all time ;) :P Cool collection
I have the Activision Anthology and the first Midway Arcade Treasures. If you ever get a Gamecube (or a Wii) you definitely need to get Eternal Darkness. One of the best games on the system.
Actually, i know Dr. RoboTNIT. I work with him everyday at Antari Corp. He's a really nice guy, a bit weird though, but pretty nice. He has also a very weird mustache. We told him COUNTLESS times to shave it, but he doesn't listen.

I respect ur ps2 Retro game collecton. But i got a monster collection. Plus i use my dual xarcade to play em. Maybe ill post a video one day.
Or an Nintendo Wii, because that system is compatible with the Gamecube. All you need is Gamecube controllers and Memory Cards.
Great update, Retro rules.
I have sonic heroes for the X-box, do you own and X-box
i am currently playing through the original sonic games on master system and mega drive (genesis)
actually sonic gems collection was released on the ps2. but only in japan and europe.
CONGRATULATIONS! FINGER UP!!!
@Zaranyzerak well look at it this way you get two systems in one you could play good wii along with good gamecube games
there's a rumor of a dreamcast emulator coming to the ps3 (take it with a grain of salt) but you know me i wouldn't tell you if i hadn't herd it more then once if i had to guess it would be dreamcast downloads not disk emulation but it would still be cool to get like the first soul caliber or virtua fighter

i have all 4 vol.s of the namco collection for ps1.....
I have the Sonic Gems collection on the PS2, but it's not it's not as good as the collection you showed. I prefer the Genesis Sonic games over Sonic CD, Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters.

Zaranyzerak the screen is not that great because it keeps on moving.
