Very helpful video, I'm going for my first general checkup next week because I got the lightest skin type and skin cancer is something that is on my mind often, even though I avoid the sun, never safe enough.
Which is a shame because Bob didn't take good care of himself. More concerned about his career over his health. He died way too young at the age of 36.
@@christophercasey6775 No Bob Marley was incredible shape. A lesser man would had been dead. He needed to get his big toe amputated but refuse not because of career but because of religious reasons. Also Bob would not get check ups to see if the cancer had spread. However, some believed that the CIA killed him so who really knows. He is one of the greatest Rock N Roll artist of all times and he is The King of Reggae.
actually it's unidentified the reason why Bob Marley died some say it's because of melanoma on his toe but others say that someone he was assassinated and a bunch of other things
So cute omg thanks so much for making this!! I especially love how you and your patient look as well as how you handled your patient it was very appropriate for this exam and I also thought it was cute and she didn't feel uncomfortable with you looking at her so that's good I love every part of this video it's so relaxing!!
I just had my first ever skin exam. I'm 59, male, healthy and fit. I got a female dermatologist, and she worked with a partner, also female, who took notes. Underwear was kept on until it needed to come off for the exam of my private area, which I knew needed to be done because I had a skin lesion down there that I wanted removed. (A papule, as it turns out.) That was frozen off. Having the FULL exam, all parts including privates, was expected from the start and I am totally cool with it. My providers are professionals and I don't have a body part they haven't seen before lots of times. IT'S NO BIG DEAL TO YOUR DERMATOLOGIST, why would you make it a big deal? WHY would I be shy about getting medical care? And in truth I've certainly had less enjoyable experiences than having two pretty girls looking at my fully naked body. I was a gentleman and did not have any inappropriate responses. Not sure if I should be proud of that or disappointed. And their bedside manner was superb. They were so pleasant, and gave me such good and clear information about the process and treatment for my two spots that needed freezing, at no point was I even a little bit nervous. Get this done. Get the full body skin exam, ALL parts including your most private areas. The ONLY life you may save by doing this will be YOURS. And trust me, it's just not that big a deal.
My MD sent me to a dermatologist at Oschner for a full body cancer screening. Yeah he barely looked at me. I was disgusted because I still have suspect moles all over my body. Needless to say I won't go back to that dermatology clinic
Same happened to me but I don't have any moles, but my brother (same parents) gets 3-6 moles removed that are precancerous yearly. I had to tell her can you look at my back because I get acne and she said bye right before.
I had severe acne when I was a kid. My MD sent me to a dermatologist because he suspected there were some other underlying issues. The first two dermatologists just looked at my face and wrote me a prescription. In fact, I was on amoxicillin for over 2 years. I finally saw someone that was competent and she diagnosed me with rosacea. She helped me find the right face wash, topical cream, and diet that fixed everything. My confidence soared. She was seriously the best.
That's one thing that I never had none is a full body skin check. Now there is some of my family members did have cancer maybe I should get check too because I will soon be 59 years old and never had it done
Do it yourself. She did absolutely nothing. Your next door neighbor could give you this exam. Oh well that looks suspicious well do a biopsy. Who cant do that
If you are fair-skinned, have over 50 moles, get sun exposure (playing sports, working outside, sun bathing, etc) I would go. I think it's a good idea to get accustomed early.

I came to watch for ASMR purposes, but wound up being among the items Melissa is carrying in her lab coat pocket! lol A very attractive and charming woman!!
Bob Marley was actually poisoned! There was a copper wire with an unknown substance placed inside of his soccer shoe. When he went to put a shoe on, the wire pricked his toe and died shortly there after.
Why not get a model/patient who is comfortable showing skin. I mean wearing a bathing suit and a gown(?) and then covered with a sheet. Seriously. Should have worn a suit for astronauts while she was at it.
You don't remove underwear, at least all the full derm exams I've had. Sometimes they will ask for permission to kind of peak behind, but Ive NEVER had a doc male or female look in front- but I would think that an obgyn or urology for men would be trained in basic recognition of threatening skin lesions so that prob would be a good alternative if you wanted it professionally checked out. Most dermatologist checks I've had were very respectful, and you always have the right to say 'sorry I'm not comfortable with that'
Underwear is unnecessary to remove for skin cancer screening unless you go out in the sun naked. If their is a bump or a weird spot on the skin in the gential area that is for your gynecologist for women and urologist for men to look at. Also, remember it is up to you on what you want to remove, not the doctor they could care less about you as long as they get their money. Technically speaking, most screenings are a waste of money. You will notice a problem way quicker than a doctor will. For example, you notice a new mole or something on your body you have never seen before.
@FrozenSurf The most common kind of skin cancer is cause by sunburn. So unless you are out in the sun naked and getting your genitals all burned up, then it is very unnecessary. I am a welder, so I gotta be careful of that stuff on my arms.
@@bronsonleach3573yes sunburn and sun exposure is a cause, but skin cancer can develop anywhere on the body, not just the exposed parts. You can burn your arms every day and develop skin cancer on your ass as a result. I’m married to a doctor. She knows.
You can get skin cancer anywhere on the body, it doesn’t just occur from sun exposure. Viral infections for example can lead to skin cancer on the genitals, and a gyno/urologist may refer you to a dermatologist if something looks concerning. Also, dermatologists are doctors. A full screening isn’t a waste of money because these are medical doctors trained to recognize what cancers look like. Melanoma can kill you, and if you have a family history of it, do you really want to take that chance because you think you know better?
Purely for medical reasons/ education, there is no point to this video, if we can't observe what actually happens, because you have to cover the model up. What would have been better is either, hire a model who will pose nude or just have a different video where you dicuss the exam verbally with no demonstration. I doubt your accredited place of learning taught in this manner? So why teach like this?
Does someone have to go to school for this. Because I believe anyone can be a dermatologist. Well that doesn't look good. Lets do a biopsy. Lets see what other so called drs. Are giving out for such & such I'll give you that. What a joke

Do they only check moles with them or do they check cysts and such?
They check pretty much everything on your skin.

didn't know Bob Marley died of skin cancer. so sad especially cos its one of the easiest forms of cancer to treat.
Doctors initially recommended that he amputate his toe but he didn’t want to and it eventually spread to his brain and lungs.
In Rastafari, amputation, even for medical purposes, is considered a sin.
@@KangaPanda thats a messed up ideology
I have bcc. But I do not want a full body exam. Is this possible where I can just get certain parts.
Is it just me or should the PA be wearing gloves?
For a detailed exam, not necessary. Gloves can impair the clinician's ability to feel small lesions or temperature changes throughout the body.
Honest question, is it still skin cancer if it’s on the fingernail? When I hear it my brain thinks of skin and fingernails as 2 very different things.
Yup. Still considered skin cancer, as far as I know. Because it's usually under the nail and you can see it through the nail plate
