Wow! Without question the single best compilation of videos showing the Downeaster running on the new extension. I thought the shot at Ashmont Street in particular was excellent for the classic New England homes and cozy neighborhood streets. It really helps unmistakably capture the Downeaster in its "natural environment". It also helps bring home to everyone the reality of the comeback of passenger rail to Maine.
I would hate that to happen. My family used to rent a cottage in ocean park. And one of my biggest memories is the horns on the npcus echoing through the forest. Dont the npcu horns sound weird.
Two foxes cross at 6:10 and 6:14-15 near Greely Road. Hey, I love this video- thank you for posting it and God bless.
3:10 where is this?
My favorite shot was at Royal Jct., you do not see many shots at Royal Jct. Can't forget the Mama and baby fox.

First Portland is a quiet zone and then Freeport? What's next? Old Orchard Beach?

Old Orchard is a no. The main reason being tourists. Too dangerous to go quiet in OOB.
I believe all the trains go to Freeport now?
Thank you!
I take this train Haverhill to Boston 29 MInuets
Excellent compilation. Any idea when they are finishing the final leg into Augusta?
Supposedly within the next two years. Site evaluation has been completed is my understanding.
Interesting how they put the 1st and last P42s on the same train
What are the chances of the Downeaster being electrified?
Highly unlikely
Most of the track is on marshlands and in the forests. Plus, they use P42s for power.
6 years later. they have made zero changes
I use to ride this train when so went to Maine in the summer time
Most Awesome Vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
