2024 in a few days, and I still swing my battered G2+. I don't need no other machine on my Roman and Medieval sites, just this one, with a 7" or 5" dd on. I(f) if it's not too cluttered I use my 5x10" dd coil just for a little more coverage, if i can squeeze it..Anyone says a G2+ or an F19 isn't a top site machine is either dull, or a liar.
Age doesn't matter as long as it's 'up to it'. Awesome machine. 5x10 is the way to go. A Detech Ultimate 13" DD is the only other coil this MD needs ( for pasture/arable); awesome combo i m h o; bit more foot-print, great separation, some added punch.
know what you are talking about before you post..the fisher f19 and the g2+ are the same units,by the same parent company on different rods..the f19 is as good, if not better on gold than its predecessor the gold bug pro,so dear sir, the g2 does not 'blow' the f19 out of the water..i know, i got both..have you used either? by the sound of it, i think not!

g2 plus in heavy iron will leave all other detectors behind.
Until, in 2018' came the Nox 800.
check out the xp deus or orx with HF coil.

Would usay this one is better in the iron for relic hunting than the nox...
Some of the coins in my country have a little bit of iron in them So I would have to listen to the iron tone on that g2 & dig all iron up.

Only little bit upgrade Teknetic G2 (old good metal detector Fisher Gold Bug). But, it is very good machine.
what do suggest to buy,g2+ or makro racer?
Edi van helden G2 by itself already has better depth than the Racer...

Brian de Cruz Brian I seen the new Racer 2 and its deep works well among iron on Roman sites.
Try ground balancing on a target ... your ground balance numbers will drop much lower to allow better tone discrimination ....

The f19 does not find gold. big diferrence. the gold bug from fisher is close. G2 blows the f19 out of the water.
