    Listen to my single, void prelude / 2MASSW-J120733463932539 here: album.link/i/1707449584
    Also, as some people have pointed out, when I referred to PRIDE in the Kendrick portion, I meant FEAR.

    "I choose me. I'm sorry." is the type of line that makes me tear up every time I hear it. I think a lot of people who went through deep depression and trauma can relate to how difficult it is to say this. I may not have the same issues as Kendrick, but I understand what he feels.
    Amazing video as always, Kai! Always a joy tackling such difficult subjects with as much objectivity as those subjects allow.

      The situation with Kanye is a mess. While he must take responsibility for his actions, I also don't think he's surrounded by the right people to call him out and get him the help he needs. I worry that he's simply surrounded himself with yesmen who won't do anything to step on his toes, even if it's in his long term interest, and may even be encouraging him.

      He wasn’t wrong that ____ own most of media and there’s a large percent making profit off of black people making music about shooting each other and won’t even sign you unless you talk about genocide of your own kind… he’s very correct about that and many j’s themselves have said it before him, he just goes about it wrong. No one cares about black people though unless it’s a fake activist movement so of course no one mentions Kanye’s true point. Everyone who claims to fight for black people still listen to gangbanging music or degrading sexual music that the media promotes, but yeah Kanye is the villain. If people made that same amount of outrage about Kanye toward the people who profit off of black trauma (and really all races trauma) then we would be in a much better place in society. Kanye went wrong when he specifically attacked the “ones we can’t mention” , because it’s a bigger problem than that.

    I don't listen to much of the SoundCloud era stuff because I'm a recovering addict and I find it destructive to sit around all day listening to music about drugs, but I'm also an artist and a musician so I walk this really thin tightrope. But I listened to Train Food by XXXTENTACION and holy shit, that's one of the most devastating songs I've heard in a long time. I want more stuff like that, I can't do the drugs shit, I've done it 11 million times lol, there is literally nothing good that can ever come of me from that, not even artistically. Things started to become different once i hit 30, i spent my 20s doing every drug you could think of and i paid for it with long term homelessness, hep c from needles, a bad liver, some of my friends are dead, just all bad shit. We had the same tragic figures, Kurt Cobain, Elliot Smith, Tupac Shakur, Amy Winehouse was the closest one to me in age. These "tragic figures" give us all someone to relate to. Just remember that life DOES go on, you will make it out of your teenage years, you aren't going to die when you're 27, but you will probably have friends that will. Life gets better, enjoy the ride and be grateful ✌️ Sorry for the rant, great video. This is a great question that everyone who is passionate about art to ask themselves (just my opinion)

    X was a terrible person, that's just what it is. But what makes his music so good is the who you're listening to during his music. X was not by default a bad person, instead he was just the result of everything that could go wrong during a person's upbringing. Throughout his early life he just in a constant world filled with stress, violence, and not enough attention from anybody. So by the time he started making music, the innocent kid that was once inside of him was gone. All this because of a seemingly endless cycle of worsening violence and stress that encompassed his life with having no break to work on himself. This is why he was the way he was, he was just person who was in an endless loop of suffering until he died and the awful person he became shows just how much life can be mentally fuck up someone, especially when that someone never had the chance to catch a break.

    • @sleepyflowerlover
      @sleepyflowerlover ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@ddc7744 I agree and that is true, but he died before we ever saw a big change in direction of who he wanted to be. What I was saying is that X (in my opinion) was deep down a good and loving person (which we would see come out on multiple occasions), but that person was just the victim of untreated mental health problems and trauma. Further on that, when I listen to X I hear him telling me not to be like him, to be my own self and not make the same mistakes he did. That just might be my interpretation of his music but one that has led me to try and do good over the years.

    X - "If I ever get shot and killed for what the fuck I'm doing, then shit I deserve it. Everyone gets a death that is deserving, everyone gets a life that is deserving, you will get what the fuck you deserve. Karma."
    I grew up listening to X, discovering him at 12 and growing up I went through so many different perspectives of him as a person. As a kid I naively defended him even knowing what he had done, as I loved his music at the time but after maturing and being 19 now I know what he has done and although it is horrible I can't say he is a "bad" or "horrible" person. Geneva cheated on him while he was in jail, now this doesn't validate abuse in any sort of way but it is a motive for why he did what he did. She lied about being pregnant also which is a very big factor in the case but anyway Geneva deserved better but she also had flaws and isn't a perfect human being just because she was a victim.
    X had also been diagnosed with being Bi-Polar as a kid but his mother never medicated him. Not only is this another reason for his behaviour but just another facet of his humanity and why people look at him as an object that did bad things. People look at him as a monster without knowing his life experiences, his childhood, the love he had as a child, was it enough? or not. X was a very, very troubled kid that died way too young and wasn't able to complete his transformation. He was evolving mentally and spiritually, he apologised to Geneva in 2018, the year he died. Geneva has spoke about this and although is still hurt by the things X has done, she forgives him and misses him.
    20. That was the age Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy died. A human. A talented human who inspired, saved and helped millions of kids and adults in their life's journey. He died before he even got to the legal age limit to drink. He was very young, man. It's not as black and white as people perceive.
    I enjoyed hearing your perspective. I foolishly went into this video expecting one of those negativity ridden hate rants towards X as a person but instead it was articulated very well and an interesting perspective that I'll never forget. At the end of the day it's all perspective. X saw his uncle hanging from the balcony in his house, home alone as a kid, his mother getting beat by men she had around multiple times, his father figure gone from his life. His perspective was bleak in his youth, the angst and rage he felt I can't imagine and unfortunately at the age of 20 things were turning around for him not only mentally but for the people around him as well.
    I just wish he had more time. Rest in Peace X.

That's not a fair judgement of him especially with him being dead , he can't defend himself. Why did he put Kendrick in the thumbnail ? How is he bad? Even people talk about Kanye but he is human but these people have lives on the fore front on the screen of everybody so that's why these people get judged so much. I've found this topic to be quite interesting for some time now. the idea that ppl we collectively grew to love or even idealize within the cultural zeitgeist use their platform to explore the idea that despite the fact that they're undeniably good at what they do (i.e as an artist your job is literally to do what you want) they kind of suck as a person. the self-awareness that im not always fair to ppl & i might be a piece of shit fr, & im constantly battling my nature. BUT in the same token, when being who you are makes you successful as shit its kinda hard to have somebody tell you its in your best interest to change.

    I have no interest in listening to an album by a person who isn’t flawed because that’s where great music comes from imo. At this point I don't think he even agrees with what he says, he just likes making people mad because that's the only lasting emotion he can leave on people at this point of his career as a celebrity

    the line "humanity over religion" used to seem so much bigger before but i'm now realizing it's not as massive as what it seems. As a christian, i am not anti-gay ppl nor should anyone even christians hate gay ppl. We as humans are called to love one another and to hate another person for their race, sexuality, political views, etc is a sin. To hate is a sin. The sin is above all else to fail to love. So we're not to choose to humanity over religion, but to learn to love each person despite how we see them since we are sinners as well and God ends up loving us despite that. Love this video btw
