Lucy Worsley explores the different houses in which Jane Austen lived and stayed, to discover just how much they shaped Jane's life and novels.
On a journey that takes her across England, Lucy visits properties that still exist, from grand stately homes to seaside holiday apartments, and brings to life those that have disappeared. The result is a revealing insight into one of the world's best-loved authors.

The Jane actress looks like Jane and has a perfect face for the period.. She looks like a 17th century doll. Pretty.

why is Jane Austen unmarried and is this common at her time? But this gives her novels which is so much about marrying much more imagination space

Jane Austen sounds like almost each and every character in her books combined at the beginning of her life.
Life must've been really hard to be bothered by "a morning coat that is too light" or playing around with men's feelings.
She sounds actually very ignorant and boxed in a certain life, with etiquettes and social expectancies.
It makes me wonder, is she mocking the higher social culture, or just writing about what she desired?
But I guess, that made her books so entertaining... If it wasn't for that life, who knows what kind of books she would've written.

I will never understand why on Earth Jane's father chose to retire in Bath. It was such an expensive place to live and he was not a wealthy man.

I've enjoyed a couple of Perspective videos--just discovered the channel. But after this egregious placement of ads ever closer together as the viewer continues to try to watch, I will be telling the TH-cam selection algorithm not to recommend this channel again. Good bye.

Yes, I was really disappointed, too-plus this looks like it was a public television show in the first place-when I watched it before I don’t remember this level of intrusive ads. Might see where else this video is posted.
