- John Butler Trio [Live at Wave Aid] - Treat Yo Mama
John Butler jumped at the chance to give something back at the Wave Aid benefit concert held in Sydney in January 2005 for victims of the Boxing Day tsunami.
The group joined a host of Australia's frontline acts including iconic political musicians Midnight Oil and Silverchair to raise money and awareness for the plight of hundreds of thousands of people caught up innocently in possibly the world's largest natural disaster.
The Wave Aid Tsunami Relief Concert, co-organised by John Butler's manager Phil Stevens, raised over two million dollars and this figure continues to grow through DVD sales. (From www.johnbutlertrio.com) - เพลง
Rush, Muse, Primus, John Butler Trio.
The 4 greatest trios in music history.
I never get tired of this song.
Thanks Patty i was one of those lucky Cameraman on the day. And let me tell ya the spirit on the day was Fuckkin Electric Great Gig PS We all donated our services,
this guy is savage he and his band are unbelievble musicians
This band rocks.....best rhythm section.......best version
How can you not see that this guy is EXTREMELY good at what he's doing? He's way better than lot's of guitarists out there who've got all the chops and shreds the shit out of their guitar but miss the clue about what music is really about. John Butler Trio knows what it's about.
perfect technique does not equal soul and nuance
he's just so passionate about his music he's a living legend!
Wow! A new favorite!♥️
One of the Best performance ever!
Goosebumps every single time I listen to this song..... No words to describe!!!!!
I love your concept John Butler. Protest songs are deemed too risky for the record lables. Being indie gives you the right and the guts to do something in song. Love your work.
who are those 13 dislikes.......must not get it. They don't get him, his incredible talent, and the message he is putting out there in every song he performs.
You hear me boy - Treat Yo Mama with respect!!!! Love the funky guitar riff at the beginning! For all his commercial success John Butler has never compromised his music or hard edged political beliefs - a rarity in this business!!!!!
na
These three are the best of all the JBT trios.
this drummer is simply amazing, you cant find many drummers that play bongos and a giiant chinese cymbal :)
Unless you are Danny Carey from Tool. His drum kit is massive. He has eight mandalas, two hi hats, 4 rotor toms, 3 floor toms, two bass drums, triple kick pedal and two hi hat pedals, a custom snare made from copper and a shit load of symbals, including a gong, which he uses on his drum solos.
Absolutely sublime performance!
What i love more than anything about this gigantic live version is that it sounds better than Butler's studio album!
JBT...the most interesting, original, musically talented group to come out since Dave Matthews. His sound is HUGE for just a 3-piece....and his guitar skills are RIDICULOUS.
i think this is one of his best live performance of the song Treat yo mama!
Hello, music finally feels as though it has some soul again !!!
U still alive
ive seen them while visiting florida before in pompano beach, they rocked the house!
theyre so amazing
I had the privilege of interviewing John when he was playing in Philly as I owned and operated a radio station. Met him at the venue and it was awesome!! One of the highlights in my life and he is so down to earth. I had a son and while we liked a lot of the same music I also had my favs independent of him. He died last year 35yo in my arms cardiac event. Worst day of my life and still is. But he callled me mama and always treated me with respect and love!
Man!! What a great band! Love the slide!
i love the intro. these guys have talent.
Man....This Bruddah is Awesome!
15% of the population lives south of the equator and we are blessed with the best music, air and stars........ better treat ya muma well or you lose................................
Absolutely great music!!! Lovin' the JBT!!!

I can't..... I just can't... 😍😍😍🤗 I will use it on my channel playlist!
Awesome performance, fucking incredible. Maybe even life changing if you've never heard it before.
I never knew you could rock that hard without a guitar!!! Wild!!

Just tripped my house amp jamming this song.

Always have to tell my wife good music is never too loud.

Truly spectacular! What an epic ride!
Man, this solo at the Citara(I think it is), is so good, and the changes fo tones in the music makes me chill!
Now that's good music.
How much talent...
This tune and this performance! Awesome.
It's 2024 and I still don't have any clue of what kind of instrument hes playing, but it sounds so fucking cool it's mindblowing
i saw them live last year, the band kicks ass!!
so, good luck for seeing them live, because after april, there will be no more John Butler Trio, then, it is only John Butler....:-(

Chris
Great song!
If every human was half as talented as JBT this would be a much better place.
Michael Barker is an absolute beast on those drums!!
Look at the birds in the tree. they are listening to him too.
Living legend !
thankz
his facial expressions are fantastic lol
It was at Sydney cricket ground, Sat 29/01/2005
Dios que recuerdos. Mirad que calidad de vídeo más patata, nos flipaba y ponia la piel de gallina. La primera que le vi en directo fue en las primeras batallas de gallos contra el Zatu y fue épico!
Seems effortless. And just a trio.
Get's me in a flow.
Great snare-drum btw!
Fantastic basist!
My inspiration
this is beautiful music
thats how music is done.
just great!!
listen too them they know what she needs jon keep up the fight brother
Джон Бътлър - българската следа в рока на Австралия!
so cool
yeah if you dont know how to play , you probably cant appreciate this man , he's got a dirty gritty thing there , and the best part , you can still catch him busking , true roots and respect. hes better than the rest
i get goose bumps every time i touch my self looking at you its amazing
Great !!!!
I got to say this is when he had his locks man I miss his locks that’s was his style
I ones wonder to go to watch a concert, if I could, so great... :-)
Brilliant
music is brilliant
crowd is brilliant
everything about this is just fuckn BRILLIANT
The magic moment, epic.
i wish i was there....so great
love it.. come to portugal
virtuosity came to mankind!
WOW
He's bowing- but he gets the rough, almost cello-like sound by playing very close to the bridge. he's also tilting the bow so fewer hairs are touching the strings and pressing down really hard.
incredible performance by all three musicians.
Happy Mothers' Day..y'all
what a performance
My dad reminded me that my grandma was THE WOMAN HE CAME FROM!
Fantastic Weissenborn playing *****
what-is-wrong with the crowd?!?!?
If i were there i would be totally screaming my lungs out. this is fucking epic!
love this...omg his shirt xD
damn, very nice
DAT BASS!!!
Sick
God I miss this line up . . .
and i love you
great stuff here.
5:00 - 5:40 reminds me of dream theater's home.
not as if it was something bad. totally different kind of bands making their stuff and all that
john plays a acoustic guitar with a p 90 (soap bar) and uses a "wah" pedal for most of that concert
Agree.
I stand up next to a mountain, and chop it dow--OOOPS.
And he reminds me of Ben Harper
Absolute insanity on that stage
