From the opening drum sequence, I'm instantly transported back, 10 years old and dancing in my velvet maxi dress at the school Xmas disco - we made our teacher play this over and over again (sorry Mr H! 😊) - and nearly 50 years later, it's one of a handful of songs that triggers wonderful memories and yearning for better times - smiling through the tears that just won't stop ... The incredible enduring power of music can never be underestimated.
Gteat tune, I was 13 I think. This was one of two of my first records, I also bought ABBA money, money money. They were number 1 and 2 in the charts, so predictable
Wow..This song has just popped into my head from absolutely nowhere and I've haven't heard ths song for 40 years and I was born in 1971 i🏴ENGLAND🏴 and there songs used to be on the RADIO nearly everyday and brings back a lot of great memories when i was a kid and the world was in a better place and not of that social media BS and if anyone has a TIME MACHINE and have 1 spare space give me a call please?
I work with people with dementia, this is the karaoke favourite the residents love it (sadly I sing it 😂😂)they get up and dance none stop smiles Not bad for a 32 year old bloke providing entertainment 😂😂 Wouldn't change it for the world
Hi mam I agree hundred percent. I am 52 but I love, love this music the rhythm transport you back in time when music still speaks to YOUR heart and soul and makes you happy and sad at the same time. Not ANGRY and give you feeling of kicking the radio like this generations music.😢😊❤❤❤❤
I remember seeing them at a holiday resort about 17 years ago. A dog walked on stage and Dave started singing ‘Who let the dogs out?!’ Everyone there absolutely wet ourselves. It remains the funniest moment in human history and anyone not there missed out big time.
I saw Showaddywaddy several times they're brilliant even the last time I saw them. They even had the girls go up on-stage and dance with them. Loved them in the 70's and still now after all this time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great memories of these beautiful times of music. Best music years ever. I was born in 1962 and very happy that I was able to experience these years when it was noh beautiful music with content. 60s 70s and 80s best years.
One of my Fathers all time favourites, be loved Showaddywaddy, he died 19/09/23 we played this at the Church during his removal, everyone was standing clapping along to the song it was such a special moment that will always stay with me ❤️
Many years ago I had the pleasure of a long taxi ride with dave. What a charming and gracious man he was. The music is of its time but still stands up on its own.
I think every person in my generation know this song as soon as those bongo drums played . Brings back so many memories 😎 I was convinced this was a summer 1976 release but it was actually 6/11/1976.
Malcom Allured was my neighbour in Griffydam, NW Leics for many years. A great bloke he'd do anything for anybody. One Christmas morning we'd been to the New Inn, Peggs Green for a few beers. On the way home we had to stop for a wee and an old lady reported us to the police.
@@Ystadcop Am i Phils family? Not as far as i know!😄 No. I'm from Glasgow. I always loved malcolm when I was a wee girl, and he always seemed so funny. I liked your story.
This bands name was on my 50th birthday card (I’m from Australia) and not familiar with this band. I’m very impressed, nice one guys, keep on rocking 👍
They played this on the summer fair when I was you and Red Light spells danger. Great songs, great artist and beautiful backing singers, what more can I say.❤
Christmas Ball Keele University 1976. Came on stage and announced that this was their first number 1. Great night (as far as I remember)! Such great days. Feel so lucky to have grown up in those times.
Love this. Im 58 and danced to it and had my first kiss ever with Sandra at Spibeys friday disco. Wish I looked like Dave Bartram. Thinking about it, he reminds me a bit of Steven Tyler.
Brilliant--many tried to copy at the time but never came close--the first band i ever saw my father booked them for my 13 yr birthday in Bath. happy times.
