I have done 21 hours and it took a bad toll on my health that I suffered for a coutof years. The money I earned in that job was later spent for upkeep of my health. As if my youth got sucked out of me in those hours. P.S. I am in service industry since last 14 years.

Without the notice of media, PG resident doctors in govt medical colleges across India have been working more than 100 hr a week. You ask how its possible? There is room for taking sick leave even, unless one is completely bed ridden. Above this, one has to study and give exam, make presentations every month, write thesis. Not a hell ?!? There is client , consultant, contractor , where as L & T and Infosys were belong to contractors ,In EPC contracts all 3 where do homework else they will not finish contract since rules are internationally accepted you can not deviate from baseline schedule (initial terms and conditions) , where as in measurable contract only contractors work more, client and consultant go on changing terms and condition there is no baseline schedule as per law, only big contractors make money because they could able to finish jobs in measurable contract mode with in time and budget making labours to work more even 18 hours a day paying only 8 hours . India should adopt EPC mode of contracts there every body need work hard so contractor alone no need to spend more time in work. only contract mode to be changed.

90-100 hour a week is not a sustainable work model for any individual. Max 5 years. Maybe not even that. So if you are going to push the limits of this resource, you will have to compensate for the 20 year of workforce in these 5 years. The pay has to account also for the early burn out along with higher salary for 90 hour work week. There is a reason overtime is paid at a higher rate. Pay the model and surely young people would adhere to a 90 hour work week too.
There are so many misconceptions for Government employees that they don't work, have you ever been at that position? Have ever someone asked why you get so late? Qctually our mindset has been made so.
The right thing for corporations to do is to start using technology like AI to make people's jobs more value-driven and for them to enjoy their work more. A happy employee will automatically spend more time to get things done effectively. The onus should be on outcome and impact more than just putting in the hours. If work is defined as 'an activity you dont like but have to do to survive' then you must work hard (in order to survive). L&T says it’s for nation building. If that was their objective, they would operate their company 24 hours with 3 shifts employing 3 times the employees they currently do. Instead their goal is to extract everything from the current employee including his will to live and then replace them with new crop by keeping their employee cost the same. They’ll just replace the burnt out employees from their industrious chain. They are not developing the country, they are churning profit. Otherwise it’s the people who make the country.

This is all started because one of the leader in India said he works 18 hours per day (We don't know what all includes in "work"), So the corporate taken it granted. This has to stop at any cost. Anyone else making such statement in future should be filed a case going forward

Spend on improving employee productivity and start investing in r&d and innovation. You can't promise world that India will supply cheap labour eternally in the era of AI and country is growing. India can't improve like this. Learn from Bharath where it was no 1 economy over millennium. They have monopoly over metallurgy like brass etc and they produced finest quality materials which can not be challenged by others. Thats how you will grow not by creating cheap labour.

Without the notice of media, PG resident doctors in govt medical colleges across India have been working more than 100 hr a week. You ask how its possible? They are literally staying in the hospital.
8am to 9pm is a daily routine. Besides this, there are 2/3 night duties, and 24 hr emergencies too. There is no sundat, or holiday. There is room for taking sick leave even, unless one is completely bed ridden. Above this, one has to study and give exam, make presentations every month, write thesis.

There is client , consultant, contractor , where as L & T and Infosys were belong to contractors ,In EPC contracts all 3 where do homework else they will not finish contract since rules are internationally accepted you can not deviate from baseline schedule (initial terms and conditions) , where as in measurable contract only contractors work more, client and consultant go on changing terms and condition there is no baseline schedule as per law, only big contractors make money because they could able to finish jobs in measurable contract mode with in time and budget making labours to work more even 18 hours a day paying only 8 hours . India should adopt EPC mode of contracts there every body need work hard so contractor alone no need to spend more time in work. only contract mode to be changed.

Clearly Subrahmanyan did not invent the idea of a 90-hour workweek in a vacuum, he got it from China. So we should be having a conversation about what we as a nation should do in relation to China. For instance, are we in competition with China, economically, militarily, etc.? What is the health of their average citizen vs. ours? What are their birth-rates in comparison to ours? Nation-building is not just about constructing roads and dams, it is also about producing the next generation of Indians and ensuring they are healthy and well-educated. Long working hours and over-exertion will cut into romance, marriage and parenting.

Pay the employees per hour. I guarantee almost every one will work 90 hours per week. But they want to pay employees only for 8 hours and make them work for 15 hours per day .
90-100 hour a week is not a sustainable work model for any individual. Max 5 years. Maybe not even that. So if you are going to push the limits of this resource, you will have to compensate for the 20 year of workforce in these 5 years. The pay has to account also for the early burn out along with higher salary for 90 hour work week. There is a reason overtime is paid at a higher rate. Pay the model and surely young people would adhere to a 90 hour work week too.

The right thing for corporations to do is to start using technology like AI to make people's jobs more value-driven and for them to enjoy their work more. A happy employee will automatically spend more time to get things done effectively. The onus should be on outcome and impact more than just putting in the hours. If you focus only on the hours, people will become just a clock in and clouk out person and forget the big picture.
If work is defined as 'an activity you dont like but have to do to survive' then you must work hard (in order to survive).
If work is defined as 'an activity which you like so much that no one has to tell you to work hard' then you will spend more hours anyway.
So working hard (whether you like or not) is a hobson's choice.
We're not complaining about hardworking or working more, neither we want to work less. We're Indians were still underpaid even after working for more 50+ hrs/week. These same bigot CEOs & founders were talking against moonlighting last year. They just want employees to work for less salary for their organizations only. Even if we compare the avg. salary hike of middle level employees with top management & company profit, employees salary stagnant. Even PM's Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran said that "Private sector profit at 15-year high but salaries stagnant." A country not develops just based on how much these big corporations make profit, it's largely on economic activity, which is depends on public expenditure & consumption, which directly depends on income per capita.
