You have the bravery of a surgeon, seriously. I have been cleaning my nails in place, and while it's difficult, I am way to timid to pull nails. Bravo!

I have to remove everything including the nails to be able to replace the playfield. Pulling the nails is easy with the proper tools. Putting them back in and realigning them does take a bit of time.

@@MagicPachinko I'm sure you have a video of this process already, but I'd be interested in seeing how the nails are replaced. Are there diagrams or overlays? I'll look around your library :)

I have done a video on how to remove the nails. If you go to my website and leave your contact information, I’ll give you a call and I can explain how I do it.

Awsome is the best... I use it on lawnmowers and snowblowers when I lived in Buffalo... not many snow blowers down here in South Carolina

Hello, do you know what material the playfield is made out of? :D

Most of the original playfields were printed on heavy white paper and were glued onto the main board using wall paper paste. A clear plastic sheet was then installed on top. When I do a full restoration, I scrape the old playfield off. Sand the board smooth and apply a coat of polyurethane. The new playfields are printed on heavy white vinyl that has an adhesive back. I also install a clear piece of vinyl over the new playfield.

@@MagicPachinko thank you so much for your response! Im actually trying to make my own little pachinko machine but have no access to any here in the UK. I was wondering if you know how the tulip mechanism works, and exactly how far are the nails from the playing field? I’m supposing that the ends of the nails aren’t exactly very close to the window/glass 🤔 ?

@@gerickking1020 The tulips are designed to either be open or closed. If a ball enters an open tulip it will close. If it goes into a closed tulip, it will open. Tulips can be removed from the board pretty easily. Usually screws or small nails holding them in. Remove them, clean them and then test them by dropping balls into them. Then replace them on the board.
The nails are set to a specific height. I have a gauge to set them properly. If you pull the nails out and then put them back in, they will seat back to the original height.
      Hope this helps.

I just made some measurements. From the playfield to the top of a nail should be 18.5 mm.

Hello Dan, my name is William Shoop. I have been a huge fan of the pachinko since the 70's. I just recently have acquired 3 machines from the 70's also and I have had 1 from the 60's for about 5 years. The one from the 60's needs a lot of work and I have already taken mostly apart. the other 3 just needed cleaned for the most part, which I have done. The question I have is about the balls having some rust in the engravings, I just bought a tumbler with the grits. How do you or how would you clean the rust of off them?

Throw the rusty balls away. They will always rust again once they loose their original plating. Buy some new ones on eBay.

Thanks for the great video! If you're interested (and haven't already seen it) watch this video: th-cam.com/video/hZ0psgHs2B8/w-d-xo.html . The water damage was common with these old machines because the original parlours took the machines outside, hosed them off, and scrubbed them down (about 3:33 in the video). Best wishes from Canada!
