I've had mine for a week and i'm blown away with the sounds this machine can produce. It's very addictive. I'm no expert in synthesisers, i'm more used to Workstations like the Yamaha Motif and Roland Fantoms etc but they don't have the same power as a dedicated synth. The Roland System 8 is a truly awesome machine. Within a few hours i was able to make sounds i've never heard before.! And i was also able to create some of the sounds we are all familiar with. I love the Green led's.! Green is an understated colour..! Everything has Blue leds these days. It's nice to have a change. The Plug in's are an absolute bonus..4 synths in one..! If you're thinking of getting one you will have to be quick because folk are starting to realise what this machine is capable of and they are getting harder to find at a reasonable price.
Nice walkthrough! This is a great synth - had mine for about a year now and it’s probably my most used. Also, the plug outs/plug ins really save cpu compared with the Roland cloud AUs. I just have cloud to load up the Promars and SH-101 from time to time. I thought Roland had given up on the S1 and S-8 in favour of the zen core stuff, so it’s great to see the Juno 60 on it now. Now for them to update the 303 to a plug out since the S-8 is more than capable. Btw quick tip - if you want a non-stock plug out “free” until you ever have to reset to stock, get a cloud trial, pick your favourite non-S-8 plug out, load it up (probably in place of the 106), and it’ll be there until you have to reset (or until you try to connect it to the AU version over usb). Roland make nice wood sides btw - RSP-8W is the model number.
Finally I bought this beautiful sounding synth and I love it. It sounds amazing, it is super easy to get any kind of sounds, it's the most convenient thing I ever had to have the option to program your sounds on the computer or directly into the synth... absolutely amazing! Fun fact is that actually I kind of like the green lights. They're not so bad "in person" and they're incredibly helpful. I have a Jupiter X and it's hard to remember what knobs and sliders are available for every analog model, even when I love the aesthetic of the Jupiter X. Now I have a full Christmas tree lighting setup with both synths hahaha After so many people complaining about the plastic feel and the keybed and so many other things I was expecting to see some kind of cheap knock off but doesn't feel cheap at all. Of course the Jupiter X or my OB-6 feels like a tank with the all metal chassis, but the S8 is not that bad. It would be nice to have aftertouch but honestly I rarely use it and I prefer an expression pedal in some situations. Thanks for the video! It helped me to decide to buy the System 8 and it was love at first sight!
I've lusted after this synth for a while now and hope to get one later this year. Can you tell me if the System 8 ships with all 3 plug-outs loaded (Jupiter 8, Juno 106 & JX-3P) or is plug-out 3 always empty? I don't think I'll be able to download a plug-out from Roland's site.
I want this synth so bad...had a Roland Jupiter-X is just made me sick to my stomach I hate it. The playability is awful, the keys are better than the System 8 but man the System 8 is just perfect I wish the action was better but I will take it it’s just right!

The V2 of these Plug Outs sound even better! Who cares about the box, I love this synth.
Nailed the VooDoo Ray sound.
Starsky is obsessed with Voodoo Ray .
This synth sounds epic!
I LOVE the sound :)
Is this able to do the “what the” hoover sound patch originally found on the Juno-1 / Juno-2?
It's my favorite synth, only complaint is I wish it wasnt so light and plastic. A little more heft would be nice.
yeah.. a shame it was released as part of the Aira range. If it was badged as a Jupiter or Juno, with a nicer interface it woks be a lot more popular.

They should all load up, but I think if you download the firmware update they'll all be on there as 'stock'.
@@MIDERA yes, and don't forget you could get the Cloud free for a month, and upload the others for a bit of fun :)
This synth is epic! Got one
I'm loving it more and more
@@StarskyCarr Juno 60 plug out out now
@@tomc7299 I know... I've not got my S8 at the mo... it's on its way back to me after sending it to someone for a few weeks. Desperate for it now ;)
@@StarskyCarr well go and download it..it's free for a month
Can you tell me how you set this up in logic please.

Yeah, 2 different beasts. I’ve a Jupiter Xm episode coming soon.. and for me the System 8 is the one that suits me best.
How does this compare to the UDO Super 6?
The System 8 is a top song machine. The UDO Super 6 is an top atmosphere machine.
Awesome
