the k552 is my first proper mechanical and i don't want to destroy it trying to change the switches, so...does the switches just come out when they are pulled? like they aren't soldered in or anything?
2:00 it doesn't work with those other switches. you have to desolder one by one the extra bit of housing they added which is under the faceplate. there are little tiny screws by the escape button for instance - 5 in total. unscrew them and you can access the bit you need to punch out. at 3:49 you can see the little metal rings where the legs go. that makes it far too tight for any major switch you named. but once removed, you can input anything. that's why this board is thought to be unhotswappable. it's FAR too much work for any person who doesn't love keebs haha but this is one of my favorite bodies. I've actually got some tealio V2 in there now which is major overkill. but your foam mod is a good call and with that and a USB-C breakout, it's one of my favorite boards! you can paint the body too which most paint goes on super smooth.
@Jermaine Axel Dizon This commenter misunderstood the context. The video wasn't saying the board is compatible with all those switches. when i bought my k552 it had i pinging noise on the switches stock what should i do @Consumer Tech Review
Hey Man! I have the Redragon Surara K582, which comes with a hot swappable board. Just wanted to know if Gateron Red Switches would be compatible with them? An idea? People are saying that Redragon keyboard can only be swapped with Outemu Switches
I have the Spanish version of this one with RGB and outemu red, the only problem i find is the space bar, the sound is very hollow.
Note you can techniclly use any switch, any switch without a outemu bottom housing will not fit in easily
Can you review the keychron c1 and compare it with the k2?
I do want the k2 but the c1 is cheaper and i can get those techware keycaps but i want to see how it sounds comparing the k2, i dont really mind the wireless
We had a cap puller but no switch puller. Our k552 was red. It also came with a busted spacebar right out of the box, so we shipped it back.
A leather punch would work way better than the hole puncher, and you get to use a hammer! :) Great video thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I finally modded mine today and it sounds damn nice
love these videos, i saw the k552 review vid, liked that too, can you do more reviews for keyboards in that price range?
does the wrist rest stick or something or you just put it close to the keyboard because i wanna buy it and idk if it sticks or if its gonna move when you play if it doesnt stick to they keyobard
Hey I tried the exact same mods, but I ran into some troubles with my keys with stabilizers on them. Those switches wouldn't bounce back up. What should I do to fix that.
I have this KB, Do you think I should mod it out like you did or get a new RK 61?
the k552 is my first proper mechanical and i don't want to destroy it trying to change the switches,
so...does the switches just come out when they are pulled? like they aren't soldered in or anything?
Yes
@@friskycuber so they aren't soldered
@@alphenhousplaysgames4565 Yup, I have a K552 as well. I believe they started making them hotswap in 2017
@@friskycuber even the red switch version?
@@tecaiii yes
Hey man, how are you? Does it have to be the CS version of the Akko switches? The non-CS does not work? Thanks
I've actually got some tealio V2 in there now which is major overkill. but your foam mod is a good call and with that and a USB-C breakout, it's one of my favorite boards! you can paint the body too which most paint goes on super smooth.
so is it ok for akko switches or no?
@Jermaine Axel Dizon This commenter misunderstood the context. The video wasn't saying the board is compatible with all those switches. The vid was saying that akko cs has options that are competitive with other brands.
Akko cs switches are compatible with outemu sized hotswaps like in the redragon keyboards.
Love the new haircut
Nice guide here you got I have a question, can the keycaps used in the video be used in the default switches that came in with?
Hey, I have the same question? were you able to use the same default switches that came in with the keyboard?
@@clockw1se226yes, Otemus got cherry stems.
