      House of History , That is a very good and relevant observation . Any combatants at this point and this place would have to be shell shocked beyond comprehension. . It amazes me that for the most part there were more non Germans than Germans making this hopeless stand . Many Waffen SS units that were Frenchmen , Norwegian, Danes etc knew that they probably would not make it . I cannot imagine that ANY ideology would be so strong , it boggles the mind these were people of modern Western Civilization yet they were willing to kill and die for one man . The fanatical SS swore a loyalty not to the Father land but Adolf Hitler. These are conversations that are no longer made , it is good we can have one here !

      @@oceanhome2023 The vast majority of the European Waffen-SS men were fighting to repel Bolshevism and communism, not fighting "for one man." The Waffen-SS was seen as the first truly pan-European elite fighting force that united all peoples of Europe, not as some wacky Hitler-obsessed group of goose-steppers. Sure, their oath was to Hitler and the German military under his command, but as Dr. Robert Citino would say, "there's an oath, and there's an oath."

At least most of the soldiers who fought and died against this murderous regime are probably not around to discover the grandchildren of this generation would make stupid comments about their gaming exploits. Probably the worse problem theyve experienced is low batteries and run out of jaffa cakes. Millions died but lets make jokes about it be idiots who thing cgi gaming would be their contribution in a real battle. No wonder history repeats itself.

      Why? Soviets had experienced and well motivated veterans, who had plenty of explosives, amunition, firethrowers and tanks.
      Germans were lacking amunition, malnourished and exhausted.
      It is very realistic that German losses were generally higher than Soviet in last stages of war

    • @Simonsvids
      @Simonsvids 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Disgrace is something invented by ancient rulers, so we would do their bidding. In the West religion was invented so we would do the rulers bidding, in the east people were disgraced. In the west they were told they would be sent to hell when they died if they did not comply. As for me, I do what I want in my own best interests, and not what others want me to do. Disgrace or the fear of hell means nothing to me. Stop feeling stupid primitive emotions like heroism or disgrace - your brain can rise above that. Just do what is pragmatic, at the time and just give the finger to everybody else, for everybody is out to use you for their own needs.
