    Love these kinds of film where we see you root through a convenience store. Enjoy seeing what else is on the shelves as well as what you choose. Those morning pancakes looked good. So fluffy! Heartily approve of the crisps in the lunch time sandwich. Good job Paul. Though it didn't look like you particularly enjoyed any of the drinks you chose 🙂

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! You need to time it too ---it's OK to finish the rice and have a bit of roux left, but if you eat all the roux and are left with just rice it kinda sucks ;)

    The background music always makes me think of a James Bond film... A suggestion for the future content - if you are into camping, camping in a national park for a weekend and show us what types of Japanese camping food would be eaten. You get the food and some natural scenery footage along with walking some of your calories off.

      Japanese camping food is just curry or if they have a bbq then they'll break out the yakisoba. I took some students on a weekend camp trip years ago and they were blown away by roasting wieners over a fire on sticks... ;)

      Yeah, it's just a different mindset. One of the first videos on my channel was an excursion to the lake where I cooked over a fire ---but that was in my old car with a seat that would lay flat. The one I have now would be really hard to sleep in...

    Something interesting, which I'm happy about, is that locally a couple of convenience stores are offering a bigger food selection here in the US. It's still nothing like Japan, but I'm hopeful. The one right by my house even has a kitchen that makes various foods to order, and you can order it on your phone. But I often grab snacks there, and I love to see what you can find in the Japanese ones. Some of the things I'd love to try.

    Good stuff!
    Somehow a lot better on the calorie intake this time around despite getting both crisps and a dessert (only in Japan?).
    Also, that's a calorie amount you could reasonably manage if you did this every day (which really seems doable without wanting to jump off a cliff).
    Just a suggestion, getting your patrons to vote on some less realistic limitations could probably result in very funny videos e.g. only items with green (easy mode) packaging or only food containing curry. Will require some more dietary sacrifice from you though.
