Can confirm, I was driving my car the other day and saw an uncommon thing in an common scenario. DanDan living in my head so much, I hope they don't prescribe me Thorazine.
Mine too I watch his videos all the time and my wife asks me why I like watching people crash and I tell her it’s because I dont want to make the same mistakes 😂
1. Slow down and allow other drivers to have a chance to see you. 2. Don’t drive in other peoples blind spots. 3. Always drive like everyone else is trying to kill you. Expect drivers to turn left in front of you, or to pull out in front of you from the side of the road or a parking lot. There is no such thing as a safe intersection. 4. Ask yourself why is everyone slowing or stopping in front of you or to the lanes to your left or right…could it be something is wrong in front of them that you cant’ see yet? Remember these 4 things and you will live longer.
I agree with all except the last one. People aren't trying to kill you. That's a negative thought, and that thought can affect your mentality when riding. Instead of thinking that everyone's out to get you, just assume that you are invisible
My wife, who doesn't ride, watches your videos with me every time. She comments how much it helps her driving, and increased her awareness of uncommon situations in common scenarios. Maybe I'll get her to ride someday!
Dan, I truly hope you see this message. I'm a new rider and have been watching your videos for a while now. You and motojitsu are my primary moto guys. You 2 have taught me a ton and today it paid off. I had my closest actual legit incident today. Car came into my lane at about 55mph when I was at his driver side door. I had to go to full emergency breaking but due to my practice and you and motojitsu running through my head "look for the out' "don't over squeeze" "keep eyes up" I was able to maintain and dodge the potential accident. It would have been a bad one. I even had oncoming traffic parked at a light honking and waving at me because they saw how close it was. The guy waved and we had a 'bro' moment and ended up leaving the situation giving each other waves and a peace sign. Super. Fucking. Proud. Of. Myself. Thank you for all you do for the community. You were there with me today when the shit hit the fan and I wish I could shake your hand. Recognizing the traffic pattern allowed me to anticipate what the guy did and I'm fairly confident that was what gave me the edge in that moment. Thank you, Dan.
6:20 -- I was the passenger in a pickup going home after a day in the woods (I was on a logging team) and the guy driving started to skid around a corner on a gravel road. The instant he reacted, I know that we were going to crash because his reactions were about 1/2 second too late. We fishtailed about 4 or 5 times until we went off the road completely sideways and slammed into a tree right on my door. I remember watching the tree coming right at me and at the last second, I just laid down in the seat (it was a bench seat in that old truck). Luckily, the pickup was old, which means it was made of steal, so we were able to drive back into town. It was a pretty crazy trip.
Another example of using target fixation to your advantage is for us skiers who ski in the trees. You look between the trees, not at them, or you'll hit them.
I got caught in the(just started) rain last week and we all know that's when the streets are the slickest, probably the first time in decades that I've driven on wet streets on a motorcycle 😬 I was taking it very slow! Forecast had no rain🙄
In Chattanooga a Camaro famously wrapped around a light pole killing both people. The poll was cut down as they could not get the car off it. The car and pole was then placed on top of the wrecker companies building were everyone could see it for something like 40 years before finally being buried. I worked one that hit a tree roof first an wrapped around it. Passenger compartment was 6 inches thick. Didn't recognize the guy we pulled out of it. Later found out it was some I had known for years.
Some dumbass kilt hisself hitting a pole while running from the cops. Now his family hangs flowers and stickers on it to memorialize the pole he wrapped himself around.
Had a very similar run-off/run-wide incident to the second video about a month ago, but at a bit higher speed. Bent the hell out of my front forks on a log and took out some poor woman's mailbox but fortunately wasn't seriously injured. That week I watched Twist of the Wrist II: The Cornering Bible (which is free on YT btw) and majorly improved my understanding of turning mechanics. I was able to practice what I watched on track a couple weeks later and have since felt much more confident cornering, and correcting poor turn entries. The reality is most (less-experienced) riders seriously underestimate the amount of lean they can use in a turn, misunderstand proper cornering technique, and avoid using their front breaks to trail break due to what they've been taught in the msf. Save yourself a fork (or a leg) and watch twist of the wrist!
I get out of work at night and the best thing I ever did was add two small lights more pointed at the ground actually for potholes and road debris. It allows me to see 30% more and still have high beam power or clarity when necessary. Little 30w pod lights will fit where you have those little DOT reflectors as they tend to have a little u-bracket with bolts.
Just got my first motorcycle and license and am constantly thinking of your tips the last few weeks of riding. Thanks for giving so many examples for new riders to think of so they hopefully don't need to learn some of these lessons on the road. The only close call I had was I got attacked by 2 sandhill cranes trying to end me which I'm not sure what I can do anything about lol.
@10:30 Yeah - The Toyota is uncomfortably close but they aren't 3 feet past the stop line. Or where you just not going to mention your own short comings? lol
16:50 Squirrel Killed my vibe. Came up all under my tire. Suicide by biker. Now i gotta go to counseling and find my safe place. Naa, I just kept ridin. OK I admit, one beer over the limit before posting.
Your ability to change the animations, transitions, and all the right button presses in real time on stream is very impressive i gotta say. Like the orange stage, red stage, rescue thing lol
At 13:17... my Bike's HEADLIGHT's condition is same 😅.. Nowadays i had installed aftermarket auxiliary led lights. ( It helped me A LOT...Their Bright LED LIGHTS have bigger diameter of illumination. ) My advice to all riders if having this types of poor headlights conditions. Today's wise words by DANDAN... Was it malfunction of the Bike or malfunction of the skills sets..??? 😄😄😄 Such wish words comes out from his inner soul involuntarily. 😅
I love the assessments of the videos. The most repetitive problem I see, is (1). Most are going way too fast. (2). They all think or seem to think that they are the only one on the road. Therefore no need to pay attention.
Hahahaha yep 😂 thanks Dan Da Man, you've taught me so much and prob saved my life a time or two. It's like a free online course here people. Now smash that like button!

At my basic first aid course the instructor said this is actually common, right after an accident you are all amped up and probably confused (possible head trauma), some people cry, others scream, others go into shock and some might try to fight you. You can se the doesn’t really make a lot of sense even the bikers don’t get what he’s talking about.
@@charliecharlie9042 Honestly this is a good reminder. I've seen a lot of the trauma responses you mentioned and forgot just how unhinged the anger response can be. The worst one I remember now was a guy who had a TBI to the point that part of his skull was chipped away exposing his brain matter, and he was so out of it that he stood up and in an almost ragdoll-like state threw hands with everyone he could see. Nobody wanted to touch him because he was leaking out all over the place, so police had to tase him and restrain him.
Dan! Can you please be my life coach. You are giving 40% into these videos… probably 15% because you enjoy them so much so that’s a tax break, but like… I need an extra 40% to target fixate on my life right now and it seems like you are the best person to help with that percentage. Nah Just joshin ya. I enjoy your videos, I am not a motorcyclist but I am a new e-bike driver and these videos have been helping me look at other TH-camrs who e-bike and they completely do it wrong. Like bringing a gun to a sword fight. The smartest way to win any kind of road fight is to walk out alive and I’m surprised you are doing this for free and giving this much education where dmvs lack. Thank you for supporting the bucket heads. We appreciate you.

Getting my MSF training in two weeks, still nervous about riding. However, I dont mean to jump the gun but a lot of the tips from you, Yamminoob, Squidtips, have taught me to be much safer and much more aware of the signs of danger even when I'm in my car.
At intersections whenever I see a car's front tire start to move, I'll slowly change Lane positions so I can see the driver and to make myself bigger then flash my high beams day or night. Started doing that last year and I noticed now more people coming to an abrupt stop then cutting me off.
Life tax..lol..I get it..I have 3 cats and no drama, and my 1600 for wind therapy. I accept before I live the driveway that people are out there and it's my job to watch out for them..

13:45 has nothing to do with the headlight. He just doesnt have any riding skill. The sound on his upshifts and his reaction when he was about to crash (he pulled the clutch in, lol) tells you everything. Also, seems like an led headlight, and I dont know any bike where you can adjust it.
Omg finally someone else said it!! I had to scroll so far down to find someone else who picked up on the riders incorrect/jank sounding shifts🥴 What the hell was he doing to cause that weird sounding upshift? Yeah, looks like just an aftermarket LED bulb was tossed in.
This head must enter pretty quick into a helmet. Also no one will learn here with not driving too fast. 99,9% of those bikers are mrons driving too fast or illegaly. You know that, I know that, they know that, police know that, maybe parents don't know that but I am not that old.

There was some gold commentary here. Life Tax, "going on an adventure", Target fixation. Great stuff!

That first dude got literally the best outcome in a collision between a bike and a guard rail
The dude never touched the rail
That 636 turned into an dual sport for a bit
The driver of the car was fixated on his rear view mirror watching the biker behind him that he went wide and caught the guard rail

Yeah, looks like just an aftermarket LED bulb was tossed in.
@@inkmav4687 Thanks. Agreed!
@@grtbgf fa sho. I'm guessing he's pulling the clutch in while still giving it throttle?

I love you man but you spent a bit too much time on the life tax metaphor lol
This head must enter pretty quick into a helmet. Also no one will learn here with not driving too fast. 99,9% of those bikers are mrons driving too fast or illegaly. You know that, I know that, they know that, police know that, maybe parents don't know that but I am not that old.
