Definitely! Dan is trying to teach a mindset of spotting patterns that can represent dangerous situations. This was a perfect example of spotting the pattern, going into orange stage to be ready for a left turner, and not needing to go red to evade.

This was a perfect lesson. The fact that Dan, I, and everyone else watching did not bat an eye at the positioning and sightline analysis shows how plausible of a scenario the left-turner was in that video. We had no clue what was going to happen, which also means that the rider had no clue what was going to happen. Perfect lesson about vigilance. That scenario could have gone either way, and just because it was wholesome *this time* doesn't mean it won't be a phantom Dodge turning-left next time. Stay vigilant out there!

24:55 I started watching your videos months ago before getting my first motorcycle (at 60). I was on the major north/south highway through Kansas City, MO yesterday for the first time (I-35) and I literally heard DDFM say, "OK, we have an open lane pattern," and when I made it to my smaller, rural highways, it was, "OK, we have side of car." I find myself "adulting" motorcycle riding now, whereas when I rode as a kid, it was always full throttle, no lane positioning, no gear, etc. I am lucky I made it through my youth, and I am doing everything I can to continue that trend into my retirement years. Thanks for your videos.

I've ridden a BMW K1300S in the rain with nearly bald tires and low pressure before. I didn't crash it, because I rode it within the limits of my skill, the weather conditions, and the bike's mechanical condition. And it was my first time riding anything over 800cc.

Bikes turn like trash with too low of a PSI.
Too high PSI you’ll just lose traction.
TBH if the OP actually forgot to check his PSI, that could be why he crashed.

The same applies to what we call a zebra crossing (no lights, just the blocks painted across the road, like you see the Abbey Road Beetles album cover). So that car would not expect the motorcyclist to be there. Sucks for both as the insurance companies fight it out, my guess is they both paid their own costs.

His camera is on his face and he wants to bring it as close to the ground as he can, to make a "cool" video showing what a "cool" guy he is. Those are big, wide turns and he was only doing 70mph. That's slow - well within the capability of the bike. But his exaggerated repositioning of his body created additional force on the rear tyre while he was on the gas. I wish they would use that to at the very least catch people riding the left passing Lane at a slow speed which is just as dangerous as or more as the speeders and I'd argue more considering the chaos that ensues when someone is in the passing Lane going slower than everybody can we worry about actual crime though
