We used to fill up a bucket with cold tea and mud and leave the tunic in there to soak for a few days. That and a hand held palm sander would give them a great aged look.

Wehrmachtes sell Gavin tunics, I bought am M43 from there after not being able to get one in the UK.

Are these wool tunics too warm for a place that can reach 30 ºc? Or they're just intimidating?

no. they can get warm in south east texas for instance, but generally if it gets too warm, we just lose the tunic and turn out in shirts and smocks like we see in the period photos.

Additionally if you wet the tunic in hot weather it can be quite comfortable.
