I just love this light Bernstein rooted!!!! It’s next on my wish list. Funny you mention the bangs….I actually like the bangs that fall a little over the forehead. Love girl mono, can’t wait to try her!!!
I bought my first Girl Mono at Wigstudio1 on clearance for $111 in Espesso Rooted. I loved it so much, I also bought one in Chocolate Rooted (and is the only more expensive brand wig I've bought at full price). I'm Irish/Korean, so my bio-hair is kinda strange dark brown/reddish curly-ish. I think the Chocolate Rooted is the closest wig shade to my natural hair color. So discovering this color really excited me.

You are so right about the variation in curl pattern. I had 2 light bernstein rooted that I ordered at the same time and one was very curly, the second had no curl, it was just wavy. Girl Mono is still my favorite though ❤️

I hope you love her! I just got a new one in one of their new colors and I plan to do a video showing what I do with a girl mono out of the box... so stay tuned for that. Sometimes people feel overwhelmed by the curls when they are used to shorter or straighter wigs... don't give up on it!! I also find that Girl Mono can have bad box hair out of the box... which is why I want to do this video.
I bought Turn from a wig sister to wear in the winter months because of the scarves and coats. I love it. I need to get this one because I prefer shoulder length to long. That wig style looks perfect on you.

Great review. Love every single one of them on you. I am such a sucker for curly wigs. Imo, they are flattering and take years off for me. I get the most compliments on my curly pieces.
I have 5 GM's in four different colors. She's just fun and a real workhorse. No two of them are similar in curl pattern. Loved her so much I ended up with Turn in multiple colors as well and then upped my game to include Movie Star.....I have to admit at first GM was almost overwhelming but I kept going back to her and finally got comfortable enough with her to where she's become an easy grab, throw on & go.

Whew!!! EXCELLENT video Denise! You're so thorough and provide just the right information that is needed. You keep it interesting and maintain your audience. After watching some of your first videos in my first few months of wig wearing, I ordered Girl Mono in hopes that it would be similar to my bio hair in years past. I ordered a color close to my bio color, Dark Chocolate Rooted, with high expectations and great excitement. I was sorely disappointed. She arrived with flat bangs and large, loose curls that did not start near the root. I felt like I had plopped a birds nest on my head. I sold her. Watching this video gives me the urge to try her again but I feel quite anxious about what could come out of the box. I have stuck to completely straight styles ever since that experience.

It seems like almost all manufacturers, esp Belletress, have been super backordered and I was so hoping to get my Wigpro Olivia in the color 9 Tones.. it looks gorgeous. I have also been holding out for a Nitro…but that one is super elusive.
I can only venture as far as brown sugar sweet cream into the brunettes, but I LOVE the colors & if I had a consult with someone who could help me figure out which darker browns I can wear I’d def wear them. The dimension is so beautiful in so many of the brunette colors.
may want to go ahead and buy another Carrie handtied. I always like to have at least 2 of my favs-1 for backup. But she’s relatively new so i may hold off. I wonder how much they’re going up though🤔.

YAY! They just came out with THREE new colors and I am so excited! It is really my favorite curly style EVER!
I truly fell in love with Girl Mono too! I had heard the stories of the variances and so mine have all been purchased on the secondary market, brand new, but at a big savings and they looked amazing! I did the same with Turn, which I figured I would probably love due to the similarities and I was right! I only use the same products you do and could count on my fingers the number of times I've used products. Tazs did a video on the sea salt spray, which I had avoided and WOW! She's a minimum too, so when she showed how little was needed of that, or the wig wax and that you can reactivate it with a spritz of water, that made it ok, for me personally. Curls a fun, youthful, and just enjoyable! My youngest was born and her entire life had curls, like you showed in Diva by Rene of Paris review. Actually here's were even tighter and for years she tried to straighten them, crying from kids teasing her etc. Finally in, Jr High she decided to embrace them
and then it was constant compliments, people wishing they had her curls! Funny thing is, I was a head full of long finger curls all my life and I kept trying g to get smooth straight hair, including when I wound up needing wigs. I bought so so many long straight wigs, swore I would only buy those, and didnt like ANY of them on me. I finally decided to try an Editors Pick, then Girl Mono, Julianne, Sweet Talk......I love curls and wavy. Im always on the look out for some curly styles! Thanks for an amazing and comprehensive video,! I watched it when you first put it out and loved it SO much I just watched it again. I love watching your videos, no matter what the topic! Isn't it amazing how we always want what we don't have? Happens so often! One of the reasons I LOVE wigs so much is the variety. I can have any style and color of hair I want on any given day! First. Merry Christmas to you and your family. You can pull any of these wigs off. So beautiful. I’m so in need of your knowledge. I cannot pull a lot of curls. And of course the size. I love Finn. But because I just had my bio hair cut and color done, my hairdresser said, you need help now. I’ve known it. He thinks a topper is all I need. But, so many to choose from. Being sick, a lot this year, I’m going to need help. Your help. Big hugs. Great video. Appreciate you so much.
Good luck to you with your journey. I’m sorry you’ve had a rough time with your health. I really hope you get to feeling better soon because I understand how exhausting that can be on one’s whole life AND others around them if they have anyone helping. But don’t worry about the others too much because they’re strong enough and wouldn’t have it any other way than to help you and you’d do the same I’m sure. Sounds like you have a wise and caring hairdresser. Colors are difficult to navigate but you WILL GET THERE with persistence. It’s a trial and error process for EVERYONE and only the few and the extra-lucky strike gold quickly. DON’T GIVE UP. And, if you don’t have the strength to do it for yourself, don’t forget that enlisting someone else to try choosing and ordering some of it FOR YOU. Then, you can at least get the ball rolling. My big tip is to WRITE DOWN (and take photo if possible and attach name and color of wig to photo) of EVERY hairpiece you try - keepers AND non-keepers so you have a reference to help you not waste a lot of time , stress, money, and brainpower rehashing already explored things. Over time it will start to speed up and relax your searches. STAY WITH and review old Denise vids. I’ve been watching a handful of some of the top TH-cam wig reviewers for several years now and Denise usually more thoroughly and clearly covers all aspects of wig wearing better than ANY of the others.. hands down. Even though there ARE some real good other ones out there- that’s just the truth about Denise. I’ll pray God’s grace over you. “ Merry Christmas “

Great video! A suggestion, could you hold or display same of the colors that are similar, side by side. Like the brns and reds, or the blondes. Maybe up to 3, on heads or hand held. This was very helpful. Do you have any suggestions for something that is similar, but that will accommodate a 22.25” head? Since you said this is smaller than a JR, I don’t think it would work for me, as the regular (not hand tied) are a touch too small. You really rock the reds!

Hi Denise. What a great video! The Saffron Red Rooted is my favorite of them all. Love that wig wax! It made a huge difference when you demonstrated it. As for that last wig, the Caramel Rooted one, the part seems a lot deeper than all the others. If you move that part about an inch toward the center, will that help the bang issue? Very detailed and informative video, I do like Girl Mono, I don't have a curly wig yet and this would be a nice first one but I need bangs and I need to be able to tuck her behind my ears, need, need, need, lol, I am a big tucker because I have a small head and small face and too much hair just drowns me out completely, love the hazel shade and a bit less curls and now I know we can deconstruct her but how does it look tucked behind the ears?...Maybe I will try her out, Ellen Willa is so much more expensive then any other brands and I have no idea why, well, thanks for another great video, going to think about it and see what I will do, I have all the info and lots of nice shades to chose from thanks to you, Merry Christmas, stay safe.
Oh darn, I should have shown her tucked! She tucks great and looks good tucked, but curly wigs can sometimes be a struggle with tucking because it will depend on the curl pattern. I don't find I have the need to tuck this one like I do some other styles.

Could be your skin and eye color but I think you really rock the reds. Im also partial to reds. Its all I wear but not everyone looks right as a red head.

I wish I was more experienced with Ellen Wille Blondes. The one I show here is the only one I've seen that Girl Mono comes in. There is one lighter, but I have never seen it, unfortunately. My biggest complaint about Ellen Wille is their lack of color choices in most styles. Happy New Year and God bless you and your family, too!

I wouldn't necessarily call it more red, but it is definitely not cooler. It has a darker red cast to it than the chocolate rooted, which is just lighter, but both are quite warm.

Thanks for this review of Girl Mono. I would like to know about fit. I've read most Ellen Wille fit small to average and I think I would be average to large. 22.25. I really love this style as it is most like my bio hair.
I find Girl Mono to typically run more average even though some Ellen Wille wigs have fit me smaller. I have heard mixed reviews from wig sisters... some say they think it runs small but I've heard from MANY who have circumferences between 22.5"-23" who say it fits just fine. Seems like some trial and error is needed. I recommend purchasing from wigs.com when you are unsure because they have a great return policy with no restocking fee so all you would be out on a return is the shipping.

Love the Light Bernstein Rooted in this video. Exactly the color I am looking for "transition from brunette to medium blonde/light brown." Is Girl Mono Like Editor's Pick in your opinion? Could I make the bangs more like Editor's Picks bangs? I like Editor's Pick but RW, can't find a good color.
You are not the first person to ask that question.... I honestly don't think she does. Girl Mono has much more defined curls, and has a bit of a rounder shape. I think you would struggle to do anything bang-like with her because of the curls... it really would depend on the one you get though, I've seen some where the bang area is a bit straighter with less lift. Of course, you can always take steam to it to relax them, but as I've been practicing steaming wigs I'm learning it take some real skill to do anything nuanced with it.
Denise, do u have experience with EW’s dark chocolate? Would u say it’s warm? Neutral? Do you know a color number equivalent? I hope you have a very Merry Christmas! I appreciate all of your great advice!!
I actually had Girl Mono in Dark Chocolate and it is the only Girl Mono I could NEVER get to work for me. It was so straight compared to all the others and I never liked it. I've said many times that I was so grateful that was not my first one because I never would have known how awesome this wig could be. It was my first experience with the variation struggle that is wig wearing. Here is a video I did where I show the color, keep in mind this was made within the first 6 months of my wig wearing and my videos were not as good back then (a low end camera and I didn't go outside to show color yet): th-cam.com/video/PUj0tRXWIaw/w-d-xo.html . I have the color codes listed in the description of that one. Unfortunately I don't currently have an Ellen Wille wig in this color but if I ever get one I will do a color spotlight on it.
@@heywigsister Thank you for such a detailed answer! I agree, the dark chocolate doesn’t look like the others. Sometimes I feel like the darker colors don’t take the curls as much as lighter colors, but maybe that’s just me.
Hi Denise. Just a suggestion. How about a white type sheet/shower curtain/drape behind you when you show wigs? Especially color. I think that would help us see the colors better. The door behind you right now has orange tones and it throws off the colors of the wigs. Fellow Minnesota girl here. I'm in WBL.
Thanks for the suggestion. Cameras are a funny thing... I find a super light or white background actually throws off the white balance on the camera and can cause even more color distortion. I wish it were simple! I have heard from a lot of wig sisters who have emailed me and told me that color is spot on in a lot of my videos (people who have a wig in the same color at home and they compare what they see in person to what I am showing on video) so I feel pretty good most of the time about how the color is rendering... but just when I say that I'll film a video and realize the camera did something funny and the color is off, lol. Even what I am wearing can make the camera do funny things. I'll keep trying to get it right and really do appreciate the feedback!
Great video. love that you showed so many colors. Timestamps would be great to add in videos, if possible. I know you take a lot of time to make these videos, I really appreciate it.
I do add timestamps to most of the videos, at least for the parts where I talk about color outside and inside and then any styling or out of the box. I didn't in this one because my point was to show how one style can differ greatly from wig to wig. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Hey, Denise. QUESTION. 10min in… I agree. My favorite wig, Tabu I have gotten 3X over last 6mo. The 1st one was so nice and curly. Got less curly each time. Last one was the worst in curl, longevity, etc.
My question is: Can we, or have you ever, requested a wig to vary in a certain direction? For example: When ordering can we request a wig be more on the curly side of the variations? Or visa versa; Request one not as curly? Or even request one that varies more on the side of warm tones, etc? Can we do that? Seems it would be helpful for Retailers too with less issues in variances. And us our here one a crap shoot. I saw a lady that wanted the wig to be less curly - I thought, “Well darn it. If I had only gotten hers and she mine. 😊
PS: The fibers on Tabu are nice for bit. But breakdown so fast while wearing it. I can see and feel it happening before my eye 👀. One lasted longer and one seemed like was breaking down before I opened the box 😔 But I LOVE the color and curl. The 3rd one was the worst. Like I said the fibers felt like I had worn it already. And every wear counts. I try very hard. Just finger comb, spray with water, scrunch. But I’m not kidding I can be at work, just sitting across from a client, and the fibers will be melting together. I finger comb it as much as possible. It’s nice for about 5 wears -at most. I think they would slowly self destruct even if you didn’t wear it. 💣 .

Unfortunately no... with wigs you get what you get. Most of the major name brands are drop shipped from the manufacturer... that means that the retailer never actually sees the wig, it comes straight to you. That's one reason why buying on the secondary market (Facebook wig sale groups, Ebay, Poshmark, and even from reviewers who sell some of the wigs they review like me) can be so helpful, because you get to see the exact piece before you buy it. Another option would be to buy from Frannie's Hair... I had a video call to learn more about her and her business recently and I am so impressed. She is a wig sister who decided to sell wigs, and she is doing wonderful things! She allows returns with no restocking fee (super rare for a small business), and she does open box sales on those returns, where she actually shows the piece and even sometimes does live videos showing her open box sales. I wish I had more long wigs to review.... I notice I do a lot of above the shoulder and shorter probably because that is what I wear. If I can get my hands on more long wigs without breaking the bank I will.

I LOVED my Girl Mono, but EW just does not make a color in it that really suits me. I had Champagne Rooted. EW could do better on their colors for blondes who don't want a dark root, but this wig, I did really like. The Sandy Blonde rooted was just too dark in the root for me as well. I did thin the bang area on my Champagne Rooted to get it to lay well.
I'm thinking about putting in a fringe (bangs) into my GM as finding it quite thick in the front. Amy. (just realised I'm signed in under the kids account)!
@@twinkiwibros115 Some of them do have quite a heavy bang area. I've had to thin one in that area quite a bit, but it helped it tremendously. After wearing so many Belle Tress wigs, I find my GM pieces are way too much hair for me, personally, but I love the style so much!

@@nancyadrian807 Could be, though some women have a flat occipital bone at the base of their skull which allows the wig to ride up in back. A wig grip may help if it doesn't feel too tight.

Really? I wonder why? it is such great stuff!!! I have been using this Kenra Dry Texture Spray at the suggestion of another wig sister and so far really like it!!
