OMG. My guy made this last week (I didn’t get those scrumptious looking cheesy muffins with it tho 😢) He used his own smoked/canned salmon. Such a fantastic recipe. We ate it for days, and froze some for camping this weekend. I am now here to copy/print the recipe so we don’t lose it, it’s a keeper! Thank you 😊
Nice!! This recipe also works amazing with cooked flaked salmon or steelhead in place of smoked. You are blessed to have your own homemade smoked salmon for this! Yum!
Made this almost exact -- I increased the garlic a bit. For a little heat I added enough creole pepper spice to my bowl to raise the spiciness to medium level and it was terrific. My wife liked it as-is not spicy. This is a fantastic soup. Great with Red Lobster brand biscuits from mix. FIVE STARS.
I tried this recipe. And I wish I could review it honestly, except I don't follow directions. I went completely left about halfway through. But the chowder came out amazing. And I definitely give credit to this video for that. Luckily, I had my daughter write everything down as I went along. But this video gave me a baseline for my recipe. Thanks 😊
I make my buttery mash potatoes slightly lumpy. The leftovers I save for the chowder. No guessing...add as much as you like to help thicken. If I still have leftovers...potato pancakes.
Do not use this recipe. The woman knows nothing about nutrition otherwise she would not be recommending ingredients which are essentially human poisons...i.e. bullion cubes. It has du=yes and palm oils along with a raft of ingredients that fuel nutritional disasters. Why? There are lovely chicken broths on the market without such ingredients in them if you don't make your own. The other ingredients are fine. You can add a touch of celery and red pepper to the onion/garlic saute.
There's nothing in the video, or in real life, that says you can't substitute ingredients. Maybe use what's best for you and your family? That's what I did. And it still turned out great.
Of course, you are correct and your suggestions for other ingredients are good and worth noting. It occurs to me that you seemed angry when you wrote this. Perhaps you will be more sensitive to the feelings of others as you write commentary.

Yes, this recipe works great with cooked flaked salmon or steelhead in place of smoked salmon. We do it all the time. Enjoy!
Unfortunately, potatoes come in multitude of sizes so one needs to guess at quantity.

I gotta be honest, I think your comment was written a little on the dramatic side.

Ok, I have a can of mushroom soup and one of potato, butter and fish. Also have salt and garlic powder. Anything I can do?
