Good call on drilling more holes for the oil to flow Jason! 😁👍 Excited to see what other upgrades come along in the build 🔧 🔩 Happy new years my friend 🥳
The diagnosing video when the engine was still in the car, you found the intake valve not opening. What caused the low or no compression? What did you find when you tore the engine apart?
I'm building a poly myself. This might be kind of a stupid question but it is my first rebuild. How did you plug that oil bypass valve? I'm also looking to run a spin on adapter
Hope you don’t mind me asking Jason, but I’ve never had to deal with a machine shop directly before and I’m curious what’s the ball-park rate to pay a machinist to bore and hone out a small block V-8 in today’s economy? Great modification drilling more holes for oil passage at the filter housing. An upgrade like that makes total sense. Happy New Year!!!
Whew! It seems like it varies a lot depending on the shops quality of work and reputation. For this, I went to a premium shop, and paid a premium price. $5,300 and change. The majority is in the heads. The porting is very labor intensive. By comparison, the local machine shop I used for the Allis build charged $300. Granted, that was only a 4 cylinder with no boring, as it had sleeves which I replaced myself. But that is still a huge jump in price.
@@sparksfireandbalingwire8467 oh ya I bought the AFR heads instead of using the stock ones..that was around 2k out the door. All told that bumped me up to 6k probably 🤣...now if u could just get it started now I'd be happy

Happy New Year Zane! I'll never pass up a free upgrade.

The original engine is still in the car. I don't yet know what caused the compression loss . I will be making a video of it when the time comes!
@@sparksfireandbalingwire8467 Ok, looking forward to seeing it. Thanks

Mine was already a spin on filter, but I believe you just remove the spring and ball and put a threaded plug in the hole.
Great series already Jason! Been watching in between TH-cam banning my comments lol. Happy new years to you and the family!
Happy New Year James! I was wondering where you've been. How's the Lighting project coming? I've been missing the videos.
Happy New Years! 🥳

It was around $1200 on my 351w...parts included and assembly of a short block with forged internals was around $3800-$4k cody.
