*ANECDOTES* :
1) 👉 * "LaBlanche" ou " La Blanche " est le surnom de la ville d'Alger de part la couleur de ses bâtiments et de sa "Casbah", d'un blanc immaculé. Sa peinture se reflète de très loin à l'arrivée des bateaux à son port grâce au soleil méditerranéen. ⛵ ☀️ Aussi, il est souvent cité le "Haïk" vêtement féminin très blanc, souvent porté par les femmes Algéroises de manière traditionnelle, représentant pour beaucoup tout un symbole culturel de la capitale et de son histoire...
2) 👉 Cette cover est une reprise de la version originale "Alger,Alger" du grand "Lili Boniche". C'était un grand maître de "Hawzi". ( Un dérivé populaire de la musique classique Arabo-andalouse...)
3) 👉 Après la guerre de libération de l'Algérie et l'exode des Pieds-noirs, Lili Boniche s'installa à Paris en 1962, se reconvertit dans la restauration et la vente de matériel de bureau, tout en continuant à pratiquer la musique en privé... Mais Alger lui manque terriblement. Et cette chanson est l'une des plus belles déclarations d'amour qui puisse exister à cette ville... Il retrouve la scène et les studios au tournant des années 1980-1990. Sollicité par un journaliste, Francis Falceto, il fait une tournée dans toute l’Europe (au Barbican de Londres, à l’Olympia de Paris, en Allemagne, Belgique, Suède, Suisse, Italie, Espagne, et au Japon...) Il enregistre l’album "Alger, Alger" produit en 1996, et publié en 1999, sous la direction artistique de Bill Laswell, bassiste et producteur américain expert en "World Music"...
4) 👉 Sa disparition en Mars 2008 à l'âge de 85 ans a laissé un vide abyssal... ! On ne peut écouter « Alger, Alger » sans se laisser envahir par des vagues de frissons à faire déborder mers et océans... 😢

I sing gamar badawy along with my friends even we dont understand the meaning 🤣🤣 . The unique tunes and the languages so beautiful. Nowadays people is music blind if they don't know Putumayo.

But I am not surprised it is mostly a selection of songs that were executed by an average algerian voice singing in the capital's arabic dialect and imperial french encircled by an orchestera of southern european jews. There is even a couple songs of an algerian voice using the berber dialect specific to the mountain tribes clustered next to the capital. And another using castilliano I guess but not sure what dialect.
😳 I wont be surprised if very few arabs appreciate the true cosmopolitan vibe this selection achieved.

1) 👉 * "LaBlanche" ou " La Blanche " est le surnom de la ville d'Alger de part la couleur de ses bâtiments et de sa "Casbah", d'un blanc immaculé. Sa peinture se reflète de très loin à l'arrivée des bateaux à son port grâce au soleil méditerranéen. ⛵ ☀️ Aussi, il est souvent cité le "Haïk" vêtement féminin très blanc, souvent porté par les femmes Algéroises de manière traditionnelle, représentant pour beaucoup tout un symbole culturel de la capitale et de son histoire...
2) 👉 Cette cover est une reprise de la version originale "Alger,Alger" du grand "Lili Boniche". C'était un grand maître de "Hawzi". ( Un dérivé populaire de la musique classique Arabo-andalouse...)
3) 👉 Après la guerre de libération de l'Algérie et l'exode des Pieds-noirs, Lili Boniche s'installa à Paris en 1962, se reconvertit dans la restauration et la vente de matériel de bureau, tout en continuant à pratiquer la musique en privé... Mais Alger lui manque terriblement. Et cette chanson est l'une des plus belles déclarations d'amour qui puisse exister à cette ville... Il retrouve la scène et les studios au tournant des années 1980-1990. Sollicité par un journaliste, Francis Falceto, il fait une tournée dans toute l’Europe (au Barbican de Londres, à l’Olympia de Paris, en Allemagne, Belgique, Suède, Suisse, Italie, Espagne, et au Japon...) Il enregistre l’album "Alger, Alger" produit en 1996, et publié en 1999, sous la direction artistique de Bill Laswell, bassiste et producteur américain expert en "World Music"...
4) 👉 Sa disparition en Mars 2008 à l'âge de 85 ans a laissé un vide abyssal... ! On ne peut écouter « Alger, Alger » sans se laisser envahir par des vagues de frissons à faire déborder mers et océans... 😢
