    Congratulations, the AMIRA is a great choice. Wish you a lot of fun with it. Enjoy the best dynamic range and best color reporduction of all cameras, no matter what companies call it in their tech doc.

    I also did get an Amira last year, adding it to my line of cameras. Shot mainly on the FS7 before, but the Amira is still a big player in the space. Outperforming the FS7 and all other cameras I've used by far. I looked at getting an Alexa Mini also, but the Amira was to me better value and it's easier to shoot with audio on the Amira. Let me know if you want to nerd out about our cameras, just PM me.

    This camera is literally my dream. As far as I see, it will remain relevant for at least another 8 to 10 years. This looks better at 1080p than most 4K footage out there.

    Congratulations mate. You are absolutely right when you say "people get caught up in resolution". Recently i purchased a canon c100 mark2, upgrade from a 5d mark3, and being the same resolution the c100m2 v 5d3 colours and dynamic range is night and day. I considered upgrading to a 4k dslr but when i looked at image quality and colours they were good but very digital and not as pleasing as true cinema cameras that were even lower res at 1080p. Thanks for the vid!

I'm currently on the Ursa G2 and considering a move myself, also considering whether to buy something with closer to 2,000 hours or if something was closer to 4,000 is the way to go. Are you shooting on vintage glass? What lenses are you pairing with yours? I've been experimenting with a lot of combos of higher end glass. I recently shot with an Angineux Optimo 30-76mm and it was off the charts gorgeous. I've owned my Amira for 2 years and you won't regret it one bit!

      I actually ended up buying a set of unrehoused Cooke Speed Panchros, I'll do a review on them a bit later. They're probably the cheapest cinema lenses you can get if you know where to look. Really bold of you to do that. You’ve done what I’ve been meaning to do, myself. Only concern I have is anamorphic. I’ve wanted to get my hands on the XT or 4:3 for a while just for that. Have you got had a chance to play around with any anamorphic options for the camera? I know it’s limited, but would be curious if it’s doable with the recent new anamorphic lens options.

    One doubt regarding the used Arri Amira. Did the runtime hours affect your choice when purchasing the Amira.

      @@Jsfilmz Despite the amount of internet trolls out there, the Alexa's colour science is still unmatched, the amount of movies shot on the Alexa Classic is overwhelming. Just look at the movie "Hugo" which was shot in HD 444. The Blackmagic cameras have been used as an A camera in 0 major films to my knowledge. The pros know the difference. That being said, I also don't believe the price is worth the extra colour precision. Then Blackmagic cameras are decent if you know how to colour grade.

  • @JitDawgBruhDang
    @JitDawgBruhDang 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I disagree with the reasoning behind buying that camera. The whole color science debate to me is whack. The Arri colors are definitely up there but are you ever using the default color straight out of camera? No! Brand loyalty is what made you buy it. The Arri logo. That camera at least in 2020 is outdated. You can even buy a LUT for the BMPCC 4K to match the Amira for $30... Lowlight on the Amira... trash. Weight... Fat af... Scratch audio... Nah fam... Value? Can’t find it

    • @dcd6115
      @dcd6115 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, to a certain degree. The Canon C500 II and the Sony FX9 with the Venice profile are definitely making the Amira seem antiquated, especially for one man shooters. The AF on the Sonys and the Canons are serious tools now. Being able to shoot wide open and maintain focus on a moving target is impossible to do with this camera unless you have a really talented AC. That all being said, the Amira still has better dynamic range, better "grain" (noise), and much better highlight rolloff. That list is getting slimmer by the year though. In the next 5 years I think we're finally going to see Arri and Red's dominance in the world of high end cinema begin to diminish.

      This comment shows that you dont understand how good the Arri image is. If you never used the camera you dont have a dog in this fight. The Prores coming off the sensor is more than a file. It captured everything that sensor is capable of. 4+stops of under and over exposure record and more. The only 1080p image completing with 4k and 6k camera image quality. You think a crappy lut is going to magically make your camera a Alexa lol. Color science isn't just about how the image looks. Its have the image behaves when graded among other things. If you are planning on grading your image to death 90% of the time this camera isn't for you. If you don't want natural skin tones get a Sony or something.
      Lastly... how is it out dated... Boy you need to use a camera other than a 1300 bm

You gave no objective proof as to the the superiority of the Arri... only feelings. You ended with saying "how is it out dated". 2020 cameras are very good in lowlight. Full frame sensor. Considering the size, the performance, and power draw, the camera should be shoot with a little more impressive specs above 2K. .
