- I'm taking you guys on a Venezuelan street food tour in the city of Merida in the Andes of Venezuelan. I tried the stuffed potato, an hallaca which is similar to a tamal except Venezuelan's only eat it during Christmas. Finally I found some of the weirdest street food I ever came across.

👍There are a few ytbe videos of venezuelan food ("receta venezolana" = venezuelan recipe) mostly in Spanish though but the images alone may help to get the idea.
For example the channels of "Sumito Stevez" who is a well known local chef or "Temperos e Sabores", more on the homemade food style.
Alejandra lost her voice because of the taste and the savouriness of the stuffed potato chop! 😂

El señor vendedor está como equivocado: la pala rellena no es sólo de Colombia, la papa rellena es de los Andes venezolanos, debería ir al Táchira y darse una vueltita para que vea, el señor debe ser colombiano porque llama "agua panela" cuando en Venezuela le decimos : papelón con limón. Y la papa rellena también es venezolana. La comida en caracas, en Táchira, en Barinas. La verdad que francamente

12:20 Eventhough most of Venezuela has a hot tropical climate, some higher parts of the Andes are suitable for wheat cultivation at a small scale.
Wheat growing mostly started during colonial times when people from northern Spain (basques mostly) settled the venezuelan andean region 🇪🇸🇻🇪🤠👍. Some remote rural areas still use old cultivation and harvesting techniques🌾🐃.
No alpacas or llamas in the venezuelan Andes either, only a very few surviving hard to find sheep, lucky if you see them but 0 🦙 though, that would be even much more difficult , not in Venezuela, not even fossils to this date, probably more llamas in a contact zoo. 😄
There is also a new local tropical wheat variety that has been developed which is more suitable for lower and hotter lands but not grown widespread to meet local demand, most wheat is imported I think from other South American countries (Brasil or Argentina most likely).
If the new local tropical wheat was cultivated in a more widespread way there wouldn't even be a need for imports.
Recent hyperinflation (leading to a greater abandonment of rural land), recent fuel sacarcity + petrodollars (= cheap imports) has taken a toll on local agriculture for decades.
Venezuela in modern times is now a high percapita consumer of wheat due to european migration after WW2. Most bakeries in Venezuela have portuguese roots, it was said 90% of bakeries were owned by the portuguese and their venezuelan descendants 🇵🇹🇻🇪🤠👍 private supermarket chains too.
There are basically two types of breads in the country, the old venezuelan andes traditional bread, which is more localised and the newer 20th. Century portuguese tradition which is more widespread throughout the country, part of the urban landscape (80-90% of Venezuela is urban).
Before 1999, I don't know about nowadays though, for example Venezuelan percapita consumption of pasta - due to italian migration influence during the mid XX C. 🇮🇹🇻🇪🤠👍, was 2nd in the world after Italy 🍝😄 even higher than in the US or the rest of Europe 😁. Good local pizzas too 🍕😋 .

That's the same thing they use in a lot of soft, chewy candy like gummy candy. (and Jello too) I tried to give some soft watermelon candies to my Arabic co-worker and she explained to me why she couldn't eat them. its not Halaal, i think thats the word. I think KFC is the only franchise that is still alive, but dont know for how long. Why would I buy a 10 dollar small burger in McDonalds when I can buy a 2 or 2.5 dollar outside and it is already "bastante", full of stuff! So much more the 10 dollar worth being sold in streets!!!

Es un tramposo con el cambio el Colombiano que te vendió las papas . Te puso el dólar a 4 cuando en realidad estaba en casi 6 bs por dólar . No le compren a ese estafador. Por otro lado , el señor que te vendió las hallacas se nota que es un hombre honesto .

@@josemontilla2958 el señor que vende las hallacas puso el cambio real , en bs 5 por un dólar ( la hallaca con ensalada y pan en bs 6 , o sea 1 dólar mas 1 Bolivar ) . Nunca ha habido dólar a bs 4 desde que se hizo la conversión a Bolivar digital . La papa rellena estaba cara y a un cambio malo para el extranjero . La hallaca si estaba al precio y al cambio real . El de la papa la puso cara y a bs 4 por dólar , si le pagaban en dólares . Tramposo al fin
